So, New set has been spoiled..
This excites me.
Travel back in time to a war-torn Tarkir where five clans clash with the mighty dragons of the past. The Planeswalker Sarkhan Vol has arrived just in time to save Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. The choices made now will decide the fate of Tarkir.
...Sooo hoping Ugin get's printed.
I wish they hadn't done Ugin's art to be so much like Bolas's. I would have like to see a more unique art direction.

True, I can see what you mean with the horns and all.
But still, Ugin, F yeah.
He's gotta be a bomb planeswalker like Bolas... I hope anyways.

Dragon/Ice type? I'll need to sideboard a playset of Rhyperior.

Don't be silly Spootyone, Ugin's clearly a Dragon/Ghost type.
September 6, 2014 12:36 a.m.
So Ugin = Giratina? lol
So, will we see a Ugin card? Nicol Bolas of yesteryear?
September 6, 2014 12:51 a.m.
Come on guys. Aegislash is banned. Pull it together.
September 6, 2014 12:58 a.m.
Which is exactly why I don't play the formats anymore; I like my shiny Aegislash and I WILL USE HIM. And Greninja. Because Greninja.
September 6, 2014 1:01 a.m.
I don't play formats because everything I like is RU or less. cries over Sceptile
Aaaaaanybut... I'm pretty excited for a time travel set. Will we see some kind of blue planeswalker to facilitate this? Or was it just Ugin's Nexus shenanigans. Extra turns sound time travelly.
September 6, 2014 1:04 a.m.
Ugin's Nexus is as good a guess as is possible right now. It's either that or something we don't know about yet.

Since we are travelling back in time, is it possible we might see different khans of the clans? I know that they said that only the first set would be about wedges, but it's not like they can't include other legendary creatures.

Some cards (Mindswipe , Lens of Clarity ) mention Arel the Whisperer. Dude's always talking about ice. Could be a blue walker, but then again look what we got out of "Thrasios, triton hero" (Nullify , Vaporkin ) in Theros.

hoping for a legendary dragon creature for Ugin, GIMME MORE COMMANDERS!

maiden77 you are the only person who doesn't want Ugin as a planeswalker. And to the others who don't think the artwork is very original, it shouldn't be. Ugin and Bolas are the last two Elder Dragons, therefore should look similar. However if you look at Ugin's horns they are more angular than Bolas's, he is missing the gem between Bolas's horns, and his wings have a more full and rounded appearance.

oh snap, do you think that it will be before The Mending???
September 6, 2014 9:47 a.m.
swkelly89 That is a very good question. If you remember Bolas was reborn just before the Mending. Ugin is stated to have been alive when he, Sorin, and the Lithomancer sealed the Eldrazi long ago. It was unclear how long Bolas was dead, This means that Ugin's death was either fairly recent, since the Mending, or over 200 years before it as this is when Bolas was killed

@katarhero: umm....last time I checked, Ugin was not an elder dragon.....did I miss something?
September 6, 2014 10:36 a.m.
CommanderOfBolas That is actually a hefty subject of debate. The fact of him being a "spirit dragon" doesn't technically make him an Elder Dragon, but because he looks considerably like Bolas in comparison to other dragons of the game, many consider him to be one. But Ugin is a strange case because he is old enough, powerful enough, and similar enough to Bolas he could be an Elder after all. Ugin isn't like the spirit dragons of Kawigama, leading to confusion whether or not 'Spirit Dragon' refers to the fact that he is dead or not. Seeing as there is no recorded history for Ugin before the trapping of the Eldrazi and no non-Elder dragon is a planeswalker, we really don't know.
September 6, 2014 11:31 a.m.
Lhurgyof Trust me, Bolas killed Ugin. In Ugin's Nexus , Sarkhan is INSIDE UGIN'S SKELETON. Sarkhan went back in time to save Ugin, and therefore dragons, on Tarkir long ago.

I highly, highly doubt Ugin was an Elder Dragon. Elder Dragons all had 3 colors. Ugin has maybe one (red) unless he's colorless.
According to the timeline, the Eldrazi were actually first imprisoned on Zendikar before Urza and Mishra were even born. So it is a fact that Ugin was born and ascended before the Mending, more than likely making him older than Sorin, since the first imprisonment of the Eldrazi happened between 912-1382 years before Urza and Mishra were born. Now, I highly doubt that Ugin is as old as Nicol Bolas, since Bolas was born over 20,000 years before the Brothers, but that would still make him very, very old. And there was an article around Time Spiral where Ugin came out of a time rift, so I would argue that Ugin survived the Mending, and Bolas killed him before the events of Alara.

Ah, alright. I really wanted Ugin to come back, too bad.
When will someone finally just off Nicol "Mary Sue" Bolas?

Hey....Don't talk about my bitch like that. Nicol makes good sandwiches. Also, it doesn't matter that Ugin is dead because Fate reforged is a time travel set. They are going back in time to save Ugin

Not for a long time, because Bolas is one of the Multiverse's 3 biggest threats.
September 6, 2014 2:27 p.m.
Firstly Ugin is NOT an elder dragon.
That being said. I doubt we are looking at going back millennia more like a few generations or centuries at most. Ugin, with help from Sarkhan and Sorin, wins the war with the clans of Tarkir.
I'm thinking Dragons of Tarkir will be kinda a re-do of Khans with dragon warlords replacing the Khans and their empires replacing the clans. Kinda getting 'return to Tarkir' out of the way, no lines on waiting. Would also explain the large-small-large block structure
