Fate Reforged and Dragons of Tarkir - Money

With the huge reprints of Fetches in Khans, what will wizards do to make us stop buying boxes of Khans and buy boxes of the next two sets? I personally think they'll choose from the other Row of fetches, Full Art lands, and/or Filterlands. If you look at the price of these modern decks, good ones usually range around 300-500 and about 200 of its cost is usually the lands. To negate this, could wizards reprint these Modern Lands in Standard once again?(Obviously full art lands aren't Modern lands, but they can be pricey and make it worth it to buy some packs) Aside from just lands and money, they have to make this stuff do something in standard. What do you guys think wizards will do to make us buy those packs!?!
Black Lotus... Duh :P
I could see Wizards printing some new lands. There has to be something to fuel these great three color Khans. Maybe some filterlands, or something completely new!

Completing the Nimbus Maze cycle would be pretty dope.

Some lands that we haven't seen before. I don't know - something exciting and fresh.
November 28, 2014 8:23 p.m.
Like some cool "Tool" lands sorta like Desolate Lighthouse
November 28, 2014 8:26 p.m.
Some full art basics would be cool too. And they usually reprint a couple modern staples.

The last utility lands in standard was Innistrad so more would be cool.

I want a cycle completion of River of Tears, Nimbus Maze, and Horizon Canopy.
They did it with Graven Cairns so I want the others.

you forgot about Grove of the Burnwillows Ohthenoises.

miracleHat I just want a 5 land cycle for each one. Imagine a Horizon Canopy in / or /.
Thanks for adding grove, I always forget about that one.

That would make my day! I would love a / version of Grove of the Burnwillows as well. Scratch that Lets just say that everybody wants every futuresight land (save Zoetic Cavern) cycle to be completed.

I am still surprised Serum Visions was never in Theros block. I am guessing wizards will just print new hype planeswalkers in the next few sets to convince people the buy them. People will buy any set.

you bring up a good point, ive never thought of it like that. if the first set is super awesome, they kinda have to put something awesome in the rest of the block so that we actually buy it.
November 29, 2014 12:57 a.m.
We can't have full art basics. Because Wizards hates us.

I'd personally love to see more valuable cards for older formats like modern and legacy. Cracking playable cards is super awesome.

Please, Serum Visions! Though that card's flavor is firmly Mirran, so no luck there. But I'd certainly like Sleight of Hand or some cool goodies like Electrolyze. If Bolas shows up in the next two blocks, maybe we will get our Morgue Toad!! But seriously, I'd like to see a couple old friends return. With the time travel element, might we start to see neat things like Rift Bolt and such? Anyhow, I'm excited. Let's hope the other cycle of fetches might come (though I expect they'll see a reprint when we return to Zendikar down the road when Sorin's new A-Team takes on the Eldrazi).

We could get full art Tarmogoyf. That would help the set sell.

I'd say Bob, but he's being brought down terribly by Treasure Cruise. A common is making a card go down from $85. He's already dropped $5.

One thing I've noticed (prolly you all too) is that Fate Reforged comes out at the end of January, and Dragons of Tarkir comes out at the end of March. If that's correct, then KTK would have had four months to itself, while FRF would only have two months before Dragons. So there won't really be much of a Fate Reforged Standard season, you know?
Because of that scheduling, and some other remarks I've seen here and there, I figure FRF will be a small set with a couple chase mythics like an Ugin planeswalker and a good proto-Khan or two, and definitely no new lands.
I think if there are any awesome lands coming down, they'll be in Dragons, which will be a big, serious set with about the same amount of important cards as KTK.

Hmm. Could be. FRF will have some good cards, but I'm skeptical about it rocking the format.

They already said its large-small-large block structure.

i wouldn't be surprised if they just reprint the second half of the pain lands first and then if we are lucky the second half of the fetches to balance the mana base for the block.
November 30, 2014 2:24 a.m.
I would be very surprised if they included dual lands in FRF. I could see a utility land or two but not much more than that. The rest of the pain lands seem destined for M16.

Tri- lands would be nice. Meaning same as the old school duel lands but with 3 land types instead of 2.

@jpgcoleman I can't tell if you're being serious or not.

Caravaneer546 says... #34
CrazyLittleGuy I hope not. Otherwise packs from the set would be selling for hundreds of dollars right out of the gate.

Caravaneer546 says... #36
jandrobard Probably not, as there are pain lands already, and that cycle would push them out entirely.
November 30, 2014 7:34 p.m.
jandrobard says... #37
@Caravaneer546 The point is to create a standard where you can run any combination of colors without mana screwing very cheaply land-wise. And if Wizards creates sub-modern with the new card frame, I'll have plenty of cool land options
November 30, 2014 7:41 p.m.
Caravaneer546 says... #38
@jandrobard Well we have scry lands, pain lands, fetches, Refuges, some utilities, and wedge lands.
November 30, 2014 7:44 p.m.
I always wanted to see reverse Scars lands. Something like "Simic Dual land enters tapped unless you control two or more other lands"
Or they could just make the enemy color Scars lands. But I think that would probably be something for Dragons of Tarkir.
BlackyMTG says... #2
Forgot to mention they could also just print Format Staples like Mana Leak, Serum Visions, and other weird stuff. :/
