Not just a whimsical speculation thing anymore, apparently. We're getting them, behold a grainy photo from PAX of Allied Fetch Land, Flooded Strand

We'll just have to see what happens

In a perfect world we wouldn't have to contend with neckbeards trying to show off how cool they are to their grandmothers

i thought it went
alpha had the really rounded ones black bordered
beta had the normal current day ones blackborderedd
unlimited same as beta but white bordered and larger text
revised same as beta but white bordered with smaller text
based on looking at the dual lands, no idea about anything else in the first sets though.

Plus the C13 thing will forever leave a bad taste in my mouth because I got all excited to go get one and start getting in to commander and then boom no more Mind Seize

Got my foil Wooded Foothills and I'm just gonna hope it goes up.

I meant the slight imitation raise with art between black border and the rest of the card. Alpha actual corners i like but won't use in decks since it makes my deck feel off. OCD behavior.

Spootyone says... #7

ryuzaki32667: You know what? You're absolutely right. At least with the corners. I have a Beta Giant Spider and I just held it up to my modern-day cards. Totes the same.

I'm actually kind of excited about this for EDH as well. I have a competitive Sigarda deck and I've been holding off on getting fetches for it simply because I was anticipating the onslaught fetch reprint. Glad I did! Hopefully the price for these goes down to ~15. That would make investing in them much more reasonable.

I agree C13, Modern Masters, and FTV were nightmares to get. I don't understand why people want a modern masters II, it made prices go higher on a lot of cards and they wanted fetches in it, it just seemed players that had the cards were afraid of price drops. I believe any reprints that are not unreasonable should be printed in standard , not constantly , but where prices won't come down that much on original print, in turn help players get into all formats. The cards that are already out of reach in price can be in special prints. Though fetches needed to be reprinted especially Ally to make modern more interesting.

does it make you cringe when some ones basic lands don't match in their deck lol

ryuzaki32667 says... #12

MMA was a shorter print run, I imagine if there is a MMA2 it would have a similar print run to conspiracy to where they print it until they run out of ink

August 31, 2014 3:13 a.m.

@ryuzaki32667: Highly, highly unlikely. The whole point of MMA was to print a limited release to pique interest in Modern and, I suspect, to compromise with those already invested in the format so they didn't feel cheated out of their money.

Windswept Heath and Polluted Delta hella bad ass.

I've been waiting on Polluted Delta to become modern legal for a while. :)

Hate the old Windswept Heath artwork, love the new.

I literally cannot believe they're reprinting them. How many times did they blatantly say they wouldn't this set? It almost feels like a last minute addition to the set, but at the same time it doesn't (think Ob Nyxilis).

Whatever. I'm friggin happy and I don't even care that I've been wrong for the last 6 months.

It's a damn good thing I didn't see this before I fell asleep.

August 31, 2014 8:05 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #19

They're not reprinting them, they're the other fetchlands that modern never had. I actually predicted this - they wouldn't reprint the fetchlands in modern, but they would print the ones that we've been missing.

August 31, 2014 8:06 a.m.

Dalektable says... #20

Sick! On ally fetches in modern is awesome, hopefully this will drive down the price like what happened with shocklands. I'm very excited, if these stay anywhere in the twenty dollars or less range (Here's hoping!) then I am incredibly happy. Good fixing for both my standard and modern decks.

Also, Maro has stated that they would only thus far be printing dual lands in ten cycles, so we'll probably the the Zendikar fetches in one of the later two sets :)

August 31, 2014 8:24 a.m.

Well, looks like I'm going to spending money on Khans.

August 31, 2014 8:31 a.m.

SimicPower says... #22

@trentfaris242: According to Mark Rosewater the fetches might have been the first cards in the set.

Well, usually when a new core set comes out I get at least two boxes, looks like I'll be getting at least 3.

Jaxis says... #25

@jr92_2000 if the block format follows what we saw in Alara block, there shouldn't be a reason to see the Zendikar fetchlands reprinted. Maybe if they revisit the plane in a future block we will.

Also, as long as the set is in print, the price of packs won't go up. As soon as its out of print though, expect them to go for a premium. And the Onslaught prints are probably already more than $40-per.

trentfaris242 says... #26

@ChiefBell It's hard to tell if your comment was directed at me or not. I didn't mention anything about Modern. Just that these are, indeed, fetch land reprints.

@SimicPower So, essentially, WotC is liar liar pants on fire?

August 31, 2014 2:21 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #27

I just meant in general that they threw us the curveball that I thought they would. We'd get fetchlands - but we'd get the OTHER fetchlands.

August 31, 2014 3:12 p.m.

sk00kes says... #28

The Zendikar fetches will fall in price, and will likely be reprinted in another block. Take a deck like Splinter Twin for example. If you want to run this deck from the ground up you are still wanting to pick up Scalding Tarn . But now instead of jamming Misty Rainforest you can run Polluted Delta instead, because after getting a couple Steam Vents the deck is hungry for blue for Cryptic Command .

Prices were way too inflated, the price may seem to tank, but over $100 was always stupid.

RTR Block Shocklands floated above 15 when they were new. Why wouldn't these new fetches be the same or more...

This will help out Modern quite a bit. Now if they ease up just a bit on the limiting of any future Modern Master sets, that would be very helpful.

trentfaris242 says... #29

This was a good move by WotC. These cards aren't reserved, so if you thought you're sitting on a gold mine by having them before and are now upset, think again. This opened the door up for TONS of people to jump into the Modern format without having to drop $300 on a few essential lands.

August 31, 2014 5:01 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #30

Yeah, now it's going to be more like dropping $120 on essential lands.

August 31, 2014 5:03 p.m.

darthfrog says... #31

I like that this also helps legacy players. Polluted Deltas were up to $100 each. The onslaught ones have already tanked to $60 and the new ones are $25. This was a great move by WotC.

Anyone who is worried about their cards value, my question is, do you play or do you try to make a profit? I have my playset of Onslaught Polluted Deltas and I can't wait to take them out of my Reanimator deck to play with them in standard. It was cool that they had reached $100, but it's not like I was going to sell them. If it's good for the guys who don't have these cards, then it's good for the game.

Now if they can just get rid of their stupid reserved list and reprint the original duals in some sort of Legacy Masters, that would be a rocking good time for all!!

August 31, 2014 5:13 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #32

WotC will never, can never, and should never get rid of the reserved list. They would be sued out of existence even if they tried. Plus, it's good for the game. Gives the collectors things to collect rather than just picking up good cards (cough cough fetches) and clinching their butts hoping they don't reprint them.

August 31, 2014 7:09 p.m.

Joking101 says... #33

Can this not turn into a debate about the reserve list? We all know the solution is to just functionally reprint every card on it in modern and then not ban any of them cause fuck the meta.

August 31, 2014 7:22 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #34

@Joking101 I feel as though you don't understand what the reserve list is.

"Reserved cards will never be printed again in a functionally identical form." - Official WotC statement

To reprint the reserved cards, they will always be strictly worse.

August 31, 2014 7:27 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #35

Joking101 - Except the reserved list STOPS them from making functional reprints of any card on the reserved list. So yeah, still relevant.

But I agree with the sentiment, let this thread be about Fetches! Not about the reserved list.

August 31, 2014 7:27 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #36

I mean, what else do you want to discuss? Everything that could be discussed has already been discussed in about a thousand "maybe fetches are coming back?" threads haha

August 31, 2014 7:39 p.m.

Casino647 says... #37

Keep in mind that the shards (Esper, Naya, Grixis, Bant, and Jund) all have two fetches right now in standard so their mana base is actually BETER than the wedges (even with painlands). The only thing is they can't play any three colour cards, but that doesn't really matter much

August 31, 2014 10:12 p.m.

Joking101 says... #38

Obviously my sarcasm was not implied heavily enough. I have amended my previous post. It is visible below:
