Ob Nixilis, Unshackled Read this card, like seriously. Evolving Wilds is not why they printed this.

Meh. 50/50 it means something. They could just be trolling us since we all like to think things like "ob was on zendikar...fetches were on zendikar" and "that ability would hose the power level of them for standard..."
@ InconspicuousPotato I think the idea is it would depower fetches against the already common MBD decks kicking around. Seems strange to give MBD more tools...but with a few of the low cost cards rotating out it could become even more controlling with Ob at the 6 mana slot.

They've already stated numerous times not until 2015 at LEAST. Why do these threads keep happening, are people just that hopeful?

worth pointing out that new Ob Nixilis was designed by Brad Muir specifically to hose fetches for EDH (and I guess modern?), because he was sick of having to wait to do things while his opponents search out lands and spend forever shuffling their decks.
Also I find it hard to believe one six-mana black card is enough to cut down the power of Fetches.
Also ALSO, Fetches aren't actually too strong for standard, their strength comes from a bunch of other things; being a shuffle effect for library manipulation a la Brainstorm , landfall, The Goyf, Grim Lavamancer . In standard they're just duals that have the benefit of slightly thinning your deck of lands. The problem with fetches if that demand is /ludicrously/ high and would likely result in speculators and hardcore players hoarding boxes of khans to get themselves the fetchlands.

DRS & Courser both love fetches and are standard legal at the moment...
August 29, 2014 1:27 p.m.
DRS won't be by the time Khans us standard, if it even gas fetches. I hope it does happen, but Ob is not the reason it will happen.

Well fuck, looks like I'm not dying happily.

This site is powered by these threads.
If we don't get at least two every three days, the servers will explode.
Exploding servers is bad.
Make more fetch threads.

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled was pretty obviously printed with EDH in mind way before it was ever meant to balance a hypothetical Standard that contained fetches. It's not going to happen. At least not until Return to Zendikar. I'm beginning to feel ChiefBell and GoldGhost012s pain... Really who cares. Just run basics like a man.

also Courser isn't really THAT good with fetches. like, sure you get ONE more life than otherwise playing any other land. Woo? like, not actually that big of a deal.
August 29, 2014 2:55 p.m.
6 mana in black is not ever going to be a thing in Standard, not with Crypt Ghast , not with nothing. Unless they make a Black Cultivate , which would be stupid, he isn't going to see play, even if fetches are reprinted, if your hardcasting him turn 6, you already lost.

GoldGhost012 says... #22
The whole reason Courser is played in Modern Jund is because of the extra life off fetches. It basically turns a fetches + shock into a fetches + ABUR dual.
August 29, 2014 2:57 p.m.
Dude Evolving Wilds op, plz nerf...
On a more logical note:
It was a guest designed card, meaning it likely has no correlation to a reprint of anything, especially fetches.

Also, being able to shuffle your deck on command makes Courser of Kruphix more likely to flip a land off the top. And he has the benefit of revealing a dead draw before you draw it, so shuffling it away becomes pretty good.

GoldGhost012 oh I see, so it mitigates the life loss from the cycle of lands that will be leaving as fetches would be hypothetically rotating in.
Honestly I intensely want fetches back too, even if it ruins standard somehow just so people will shut the hell up about them and about Return to Zendikar.

"Just run basics like a man" is my new favorite quote DarkHero
August 29, 2014 4:11 p.m.
WOW! Look at this:
"Khans" and "Tarkir" is 11 letters. There has been 19 standard legal sets after Zendikar. 19-11=8. Zendikar is 8 letters! We'll see reprints of fetches in Khans! :D
JOKING!

Going deeper, 8 is 23. The 2 block paradigm was just revealed, Un-set 3 confirmed as well.

BlastercoolWeird it's not the life gain, it's the fact that if u don't like what's on ur library u can shuffle it for something else.

BlastercoolWeird says... #35
okay, cool, it helps you have a few less bad draws, and what, that card's supposed to be a sign from the heavens that fetches are confirmed?
It's only one card that benefits fetches thus far, and we only have one that really hoses fetches.
We have about as much evidence for or against fetches as we do for dinosaurs being in "Dewey" and/or "Louie."
August 30, 2014 11:02 a.m.
TheAnnihilator says... #36
Lol, BlastercoolWeird. What if there ARE dinosaurs in Dewey and Louie? Would you be able to say that you called it?

Well yeah, if I keep saying there'll be dinosaurs eventually I'll be right.

You were right! Sweet! 25 dollar lands in booster packs=amazing, and now ob nixilis kills fetch land players!

No good player will crack a fetch when their opponent has Ob Nixilis, Unshackled unless they really need the mana and are comfortably ahead on the life totals.
August 31, 2014 8:27 a.m.
They're not reprinting the fetches that were previously in modern, these ones are completely different - they're the other 5 from onslaught. Wizards threw a curveball with this. However it does mean that the other 5 are likely to come in the next set.
August 31, 2014 10:26 a.m.
Great call by the OP on Ob Nixilis, Unshackled
Up 60% since your post
InconspicuousPotato says... #2
Why exactly would they want to make a card completely bonkers by reprinting fetches?
