On a question about the presence of hedrons on Tarkir in the Godbook Survey, one of the multiple choices was:

"Tarkir becomes Zendikar in the alternate timeline created by the events of Fate Reforged."

Obviously not true. Still, what if? That would definitely be... interesting...

wouldn't that mean Zendikar actually takes place after this block?

also, how exactly does the Godbook thing work anyway?

shinobigarth says... #7

if the next block is Zendikar, there would be 5 blocks in between the 2 Zendikars, isn't that about the span of time between the 2 Ravnicas?

blood and sweat are going to be rtz. no doubt about it.

so 7 years between the Ravnicas ('05 to '12), come this autumn will be 6 years since Zendikar, so i mean its possible definitely and given Tarkir is tying in to it with the whole Sorin looking for Ugin to help deal with the problem thing, seems like Blood and Sweat could be.

Zendarkir

I think that sarkhan took the hedron shard from the eye of Ugin back in time to save ugin and that's why there is now hedrons there

JPODS0717: I see what you did there.

What's a "Godbook"?

Zendikar had the roil (giant storm that made the mana on the plane so F***ed up), and we saw storms of dragons in past... Interesting parallel.

Rayenous says... #14

...Ummm...

I think people are overlooking one simple fact.

The Hedrons on Zendikar were made by Ugin as part of the trap to contain the Eldrazi.
As such, you should expect Hedrons to exits on Ugin's home Plane.
Since Hedrons are a powerful source of magic, Ugin would not likely leave them everywhere on the Plane... but the fact that the broken Eye of Ugin was powerful enough to contain Ugin in a Hedron based Crucible of the Spirit Dragon to heal him should not be surprising.

What he said. Still, RTZ

Kozelek says... #16

@Rayenous actually Nahiri made the hedrons with Ugin's help

January 27, 2015 12:54 p.m.

Rayenous says... #17

Yes, Nahiri made the basic stone shape... Ugin made the runes and infused them with the required power... Sorin... well Sorin Supervised!

Ugin also gleaned from Nihiri the basic of Stoneforging.

Either way, the trapping of the Eldrazi on Zendikar occurred before the events of FRF, so there would be no change to the Zendikar story line, except one thing.

It may no-longer have been Sarkhan who fought with Chandra and Jace, causing the fracturing of Eye of Ugin and releasing the Eldrazi. A slightly altered version of events may needed to unfold. - This is because Sarkhan 1- may no longer have ever existed, 2- may not have found his spark, 3- would have no reason to search other Planes for Dragons, thus never went to Zendikar, and 4- would have no reason to revere Bolas, and thus never went to the Eye of Ugin.

All true

Rayenous: According to Doug Beyer's tumblr

"but from the perspective of the rest of the Multiverse, somebody who called himself Sarkhan still showed up and participated in those Sarkhan-involving, off-Tarkir events in recent history (meeting Ajani on Jund, declaring fealty to Bolas, going to the Eye of Ugin, fighting with Chandra and Jace)"

So Sarkhan did do all of those things. The changes in Tarkir's past only change Tarkir.

January 27, 2015 2:13 p.m.

Rayenous says... #20

In that case.... why is this even a thread?

NOTHING has changed...There is a logical reason why Hedron's could/should exist on Tarkir...

The only question remaining at this time... will Sarkhan exist in the new time line?
Something I'm sure we will discover in DTK.

JWiley129 says... #21

Guys, the hedrons on Crucible of the Spirit Dragon is the healing cocoon for Ugin made by Sarkhan's hedron shard. That choice in the godbook study is to see how many people were mislead into thinking that Zendikar = Tarkir. There will be no Eldrazi in DTK, and this doesn't mean that the next block takes place on Zendikar.

January 27, 2015 3:35 p.m.

Rayenous says... #22

Well... to be fair to the conspiracy theorists...

The only remaining Eldrazi on Zendikar is Ulamog.
Kozilek and Emrakul have left, with no indication as to why.

The Crucible of the Spirit Dragon was made by the Eye of Ugin... the same item which emitted enough power/energy to lure the Eldrazi into the trap on Zendikar.

It is possible that shortly after being freed from the Hedron trap, Kozilek and/or Emrakul may have sensed the powers which could now be emanating from the Crucible of the Spirit Dragon on Tarkir.

Food for thought...

Likely, bitter, toxic, rotting, misleading, false fruit of knowledge... but still, food for thought! :)

January 27, 2015 3:47 p.m.

Kozelek says... #23

Now here's what I think mite happen all the history happened the same exept it takes Ugin 1280 years to get healed and emerge from the hedron cocoon. Thoughts?

January 27, 2015 3:58 p.m.

Rayenous says... #24

That's probably about right... but Ugin saw Sarkhan create the Crucible.
So, now Ugin and Sarkhan will be besties!

I never actually thought Tarkir would be Zendikar. I just thought it would make an interesting plot twist.
