They spoiled a token... For gold. It's controller can sac it for one mana of any color, that's all it does though. I'm smelling a King Midas-themed Beast Within !

Ive also been thinking this is the result of a removal spell. Maybe see more play than Swan Song ?

Maybe we'll get something similar to Aurification ?

Could also be a creature. Sounds a lot like King Midas touching things. But a spell along the lines of Crib Swap and Beast Within does sound more workable. hmmmm...

It could have something to do with the returned, as there is an abundance of gold in the underworld. They treat it as common.

I think it may be a 1/6 whenever it deals combat damage to a creature exile it and they get a gold token or something. Or you get one if it's mana cost is high enough

I'm hoping for something like Rapid Hybridization / Beast Within (probably not U... but who knows), but producing a number of these instead of a 3/3...
How many? would be the question.... 1? 2? 3?
Perhaps a number based on it's CMC... but that would seem like too many.
Number based on power or toughness...? perhaps.
I think 1 for each color that the creature was might be interesting... Thassa, God of the Sea grants 1... Deathrite Shaman grants 2.... Chromanticore grants 5.
All speculation... so many options/possibilities.

Maybe a "golden touch" aura? Deathtouch with a downside?

likely a Beast Within effect. If not for the art, I would think it targets artifacts or maybe artifact or enchantment, but just speculating based on the art- it destroys target creature, then its controller gets a number of Gold tokens based on that creature's cmc (or maybe power or toughness).

Hopefully it's a exile effect. Otherwise destroying a Worldspine Wurm with it would be very bad
January 22, 2014 1:22 p.m.
...or good... Hit your own Worldspine Wurm with it... get 3x 5/5 Trample... shuffle it into your Library... get enough mana to cast another... giggle!

These tokens look awesome, I wonder what creates them.

That looks...I don't know how I feel about that. I was going to say good in limited, but at rare that prospect is obviously much less of one. Does black or esper really need this?

Im kinda with Spootyone. why is this black.... (i get the flavor of it) it would just be more useful elsewhere or being colorless so every deck can start answering gods/indestructible, especially with that black 7cmc that brings back any creature from any graveyard and it gains indestructible

I wish is was instead:
Touch of Midas - W
Instant - R or U
Exile target creature. It's controller puts x Gold tokens into play, where x is the exiled creature's converted mana cost.
Cross-format playable, and dope.

They wouldn't put that at W, too powerful. Like a better Path to Exile and standard doesnt need that.

I dunno if I'd say it's strictly better. Against larger creatures, or in Legacy, more mana at once is more dangerous than a new land.

I had a feeling this would be a black spell, but for the effect, it still leaves me wanting. Black already has plenty of removal. Being able to exile instead of just destroy is nice, and I like that the caster always gets the Gold regardless of whose creature gets the boot, but a rare at cmc4. I don't know how much play this will see.
I think it could find a home in a U/B/R build with Izzet shenanigans to recast sorceries to ramp mana, but yeah: Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit?

I just feel like at 4 mana there are other things the decks that can play this want to be doing. Then, again, its removal + ramp. This is a powerful combination of tempo advantage not a single person should overlook. But, again...standard? I just don't see the need in that color. And again....Limited? Fantastic, but it's a rare...

Lol that would be brilliant. Wonder if it'll be a gold card...
