Bitter Revelation has mad flavor text.

CastleSiege says... #2

And just for anyone that doesn't get the depth of it...

Sorin came to Tarkir in search of Ugin, hoping he would help defeat the Eldrazi on Zendikar. When Sorin finds out that Ugin is dead, he decides that there's little hope of saving Zendikar or any other plane that the Eldrazi decide to devour. Hence "The corpses of worlds will join you in the tomb." This also makes sense of the card's name, "Bitter Revelation," as it is a disappointing truth that was previously unknown to Sorin.

But the time travel . . . the time travel. Also, "Fate Reforged" holds some serious resurrection undertones imho.

August 31, 2014 9:02 p.m.

my only regret is the the teaser art for Fate Reforged implies this will be Ugin from the distant past, pre-murder, rather than the MUCH COOLER option that Ugin is revived as he is in the present as a GIANT, BADASS SKELETON DRAGON

But if they change the past, then Ugin could exist in the present again. That would involve them going back and stopping Bolas from allegedly killing Ugin. Would WOTC really kill Bolas off though?

I'm thinking this has more to do with Garruk killing planeswalkers and Elspeth being dead. Quite possibly something like animate dead for planeswalkers? Maybe not in Tarkir or at least not in the first two sets.

If Sarkhan travels back in time to help Ugin defeat Bolas and survive until the present day, then a lot of things won't happen!

  1. The five shards of alara would have never been rejoined in Bolas' quest for power, thus shards like Bant wouldn't have been destroyed.

  2. We'd have to revisit Zendikar, because Bolas wouldn't have forced Sarkhan to wait at the Eye of Ugin , he wouldn't have battled Jace and Chandra, and the Eldrazi wouldn't have been released because the three planeswalkers + invisible fire requirements wouldn't have been met.

  3. Since Bolas would have been dead, Tezzeret wouldn't have been on Phyrexia during the mirran/phyrexian war. The outcome might have even changed, because Tezzeret may have contributed in some way/ shape/ form.

  4. Gideon and Jace would've never gone to Ravnica for help, and the guilds may have declared war on each other since the Great Maze was never really discovered.

  5. Sorin may not have gone back to Innistrad and intervened, so the humans on the plane may be almost extinct.

  6. Many cards would need to be changed also: Ob Nixilis may be a planeswalker, depending on who sabotaged his ascension and how. Nissa wouldn't be a "worldwaker," and have stayed an elf planeswalker. The present Sarkhan would be changed, as well as the present Tezzeret, since they were both Bolas' agents. Sorin's planeswalker cards would need some adjusting also. Most importantly, Ugin will get a planeswalker card because he's technically still alive.

  7. If Sarkhan succeeds, expect a lot of revisits to planes! That's probably why they're changing the block cycles in a year!

Holy Fuck shit.....No words can describe how much that'd be cool

I imagine it's not that they defeat Bolas as much as they prevent Ugin from dying, which is a slightly different matter. But a lot of those ramifications still hold true.

Hmm..i now need to read about ugin...but sure why i didn't before but now I'm convinced

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Bolas most likely is too powerful for even Ugin, Sarkhan, and Sorin to kill. I would believe escape though.

When time is disturbed, only that plane's timeline changes. The reason it was such a big deal in Time Spiral was because the time rifts would destroy the plane, and thus the Multiverse

Why is it not conceivable.bolas gets beat for once? Ajani coukd conjure a bolas avatar to match and he was alone right?

September 8, 2014 9:18 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #16

The difference is that Bolas was beaten by Bolas. Yes Ajani summoned a Bolas token, but Bolas basically beat himself.

"Stop hitting myself. Stop hitting myself. Stop hitting myself." - Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker , fighting an avatar of his soul.

VampireArmy says... #18

But if ajani could.make a bolas token, doesn't that make him as magically strong as bolas by default?

September 8, 2014 9:22 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #19

By that logic, I'm as powerful as Emrakul, the Aeons Torn because I can spawn Eldrazi.

September 8, 2014 9:24 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #20

That's different. Technically as players we are superpowerful plansewalkers able to wield any and all mana...we don't actively exist in their world

September 8, 2014 9:26 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #21

It's just part of Ajani's powers.

"Ajani was unique among his kin, not only for his bone white fur, but also due to his unique abilities to manipulate the magics of the soul. He could see deep into other beings, and see the very essence of their spirits. He could call that essence forth and manifest it in a multitude of ways, and despite his pariah status, he was considered the best healer in his tribe."

September 8, 2014 9:29 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #22

So you're saying ajani is the second most powerful pkaneswalker due to this soul mimic ability and he's the only hope of ever defeating bolas

September 8, 2014 9:31 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #23

No, not at all. Ajani was only able to conjure such a powerful projection of Bolas's soul because he tapped into all the mana of the Maelstrom that Bolas hadn't already absorbed. While it was a paltry amount compared to what Bolas absorbed, it was enough to give him a serious power boost.

September 8, 2014 9:35 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #24

That makes a lot more sense. I hope they at least get some good hits on him. No one likes god mode characters who can't even be hurt

September 8, 2014 9:40 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #25

Yeah, well "god mode characters who can't even be hurt" is a pretty good description of Planeswalkers before the Mending.

September 8, 2014 9:45 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #26

Pretty much describes what I've been told by every hardcore bolas ever...and none gave half as good an explanation as you have so thanks for that

September 8, 2014 9:47 p.m.

OmegaAura113 says... #27

An ajani reprint would be cool, but he's gotten two new cards inThe past year. I don't think they'd reprint him a third time. Also, isn't he still in theros spreading the word on how evil the gods are.
