I was wondering what other people think about the new lilliana, I personally like her a lot. More specifically I was wondering what people thought of her potential in a deck like the modern podless pod. Could she see play in it? If so, how much does she increase the power of the deck?
Sorry if this is the the wrong forum. I wasn't sure if this was a thread for the modern forum or this one, because I'm curious about her in standard too and she is still a spoiler.
She's a decent card but I don't like her in modern. Not in existing shells anyway. She could go in a creature heavy deck. Current BG/x decks don't want reanimation that much. Though a more creature heavy deck like a Collected Company shell might appreciate getting back combo pieces. It certainly makes a her threat - turns her from a value machine into a 'kill this or die next turn' card.

would reanimating a Tarmogoyf or something similar not be quite good, seems decent to me. On a side note while thinking of Tarmogoyf, when shes in the graveyard does she count as a creature, planeswalker or both?

I believe flip cards only count as their first side, not their flip side.
Reanimating a goyf is fine but when you're only playing 10-14 creatures it's not a huge part of your deck.

She could make it into a company build, the main downside I'm seeing, is that she can only be used once each turn, whereas the deck aims to go infinite by saccing creatures. On the other hand, she's like a Liliana of the Veil which can be Coco'd into, which is pretty sweet. Her ult relies on other cards to be effective; in most cases, this isn't ideal, but in the case of collected company, it could give you fresh finks or redcap, when you don't have the entire combo assembled, or if they've already persisted. Has some pretty good potential, I'd say.

fair enough that makes sense, I still think if they do see modern play there will be a lot of judge calls in he early days. Also as with all the new flip Planeswalkers (assuming all the leaks are valid) they are all reanimatable (definitely a real word) with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death

There are many company builds, and for abzan specifically there is also the infinite gain life/ping you build, then there's just the pure value build

Just pointing out that she's not even close to liliana of the veil in terms of power. Not even close.

Yeah, Liliana of the Veil is on a completely different level of power. I don't think that the new Lili has much of a place in Modern, MAYBE as a one-of in Melira Podless Pod.
Also, liliana, Heretical Healer.

I've been playing her as a one-of in podless pod and personally I think she's good. I like the double discard when I can reanimate the combo piece I ditched for free next turn while taking cards out of my opponent's hand. I'm still play testing, but one is just fine imo. Only downside is it doesn't get legendaries. (Melira, anafenza KTS)

You're in the right forum.
I like the idea of her in Standard, not so much in Modern. However, just the idea. I'm not sure how practical she actually is.
