New spoiler for Magic Origins!
What do you think his power and toughness are?
FAMOUSWATERMELON says... #4
Interesting design, but it doesn't seem all that useful to me... I mean, for five mana, you could just run a boardwipe... and the creatures have to deal damage to you for this to work, which is very risky... I'm betting on 3/4, same as Wiley.

Looks like flash is returning? Sweet.
3/4 sounds very possible.

Flash was in M15 as well, Canadion, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Yeah, seems like I would rather run a board wipe. This one requires you to be dealt damage to work, and when it does they can get their creatures back with just one killspell.

Canadion - Flash is an Evergreen mechanic, that means every set has access to it should the need arise. See Silumgar Sorcerer.
CastleSiege - I don't necessarily trust MythicSpoiler for these types of things, I'll believe it when I see a better picture of the card.
I like this guy as a Commander, or part of the 99 with someone like Roon of the Hidden Realm. Also, who wants to bet he has something to do with Chandra's spark?

It's obvious you run this in commander and find a way to flash in this with Worship!

My guess would be that he's more attached to Gideon than Chandra. We know that Gideon was a wayward youth as a child, and I believe he spent time in prison where he learned the value of justice.
May 26, 2015 10:27 p.m.
Named_Tawyny - Except Gideon Jura is Kytheon Iora from Desperate Stand from Theros. I HIGHLY doubt Gideon was in a prison.

JWiley129: Quote from GameLore:
"A troubled and angry young man, Gideon committed crimes and spent time in prison - a part of his life he rarely speaks about. Then a powerful mage took young Gideon under his wing and helped him hone his skills. Although he's has a dark side, Gideon has come down firmly on the side of honor and justice. He won't forget the trials of his past, and he now devotes himself to helping those who can't help themselves."
So no, this would probably relate more to Gideon.

It's a situational 2 for 1. 3/3 is around the point it could be Standard playable, highly dependant on the red removal available. Control could take a hit, flash him, untap and cast a removal spell to steal back initiative. Could be good in race situations as well.

Just something I noticed, and I may be totally off base as I'm no expert on text formatting, but when it says "... exile that creature until Hixus leaves the battlefield." is throwing me off. Shouldn't it read the full card name? In other words, "... exile that creature until Hixus, Prison Warden leaves the battlefield."?
May 26, 2015 11:39 p.m.
Externium - They do that from time to time. See Brimaz, King of Oreskos.
May 26, 2015 11:46 p.m.
If you have to take the damage anyway the creatures should be permanently exiled...
May 27, 2015 12:20 a.m.
I think people are missing that it can hit more than once creature. Yes it does suck that you have to take the damage, but you can potentially wipe out your opponents entire board with this. Don't know if that's really enough upside, considering the more creature you exile the more damage you have to take but I thought I'd mention it since everyone seems to refer to only exiling one creature.

This guy is neat in EDH just screams, for voltron though. He wants to be there and chill and not get killed. So his ability is just there to scare off attackers. I will say he is a 3/4, 3/5/ or 4/5.
May 27, 2015 6 a.m.
Hoping this guy is a 4/5. It can actually be good if it has a big enough body. You can flash it in before blocks and block, say, anafenza. Then after combat exile rhino. Sounds pretty good if it is a 4/5, but 3/4 would be quite weak.
May 27, 2015 6:50 a.m. Edited.
@Death_The_Kid his ability says, "if he entered the battlefield that turn".... so him just sitting on the battlefield doesn't deter any attackers. His ability only works the turn he enters the battlefield and does nothing after that.
May 27, 2015 10:02 a.m.
I think I'll stick with the Angel of the Dire Hour. Sure it costs two more mana, but it permanently exiles the attacking creatures. You don't have to take damage in order for it to work.

Just saying... I really want flash to be a main mechanic sometime in the future. It's easily my favorite one.
May 27, 2015 4:37 p.m.
TheAnnihilator flash is an evergreen mechanic, it just doesn't appear as often as flying or lifelink.
May 27, 2015 4:47 p.m.
If this is actually the way Hixus is worded, you can flash him in, put the exile triggers on the stack, then sacrifice him/destroy him/whatever. The creatures would be gone permanently. Hixus even curves off of Butcher of the Horde.
How is anyone saying this guy isn't good lol?
May 27, 2015 5:37 p.m.
SimicPower says... #26
sylvannos: I don't think so. That wording worked with Fiend Hunter and Oblivion Ring, when it was two separate triggered abilities. I think that is one of the reasons they changed it to the Banishing Light template.

I doubt that this is a fake, as if you look at the original photo, it looks near impossible to photoshop.

I could possibly see it being a 4/4 with the Cmc being a five. every time u see something under sold being a stat like 3/4 it sux it can't take down big creatures it doesn't have reach to deal with flyers I've learned a lot these past few months in magic. And yeah I doubt it will be that bad

These are my personal opinions:
BEWARE! Whoever took this photo clearly left off a part, and this makes me want to believe it's either:
A. A fake spoiler too see how many people actually talk about it and spoil it.
B. This is one of the flashy cards out of the set, and whoever spoiled this card will spoil it P/T later.
More opinions based on the card alone:
Predictions on P/T: 2/4
Is it real?: maybe
Is it worth talking about excessively until it's confirmed?: No
Do I like the card: Yes

I think it might be a badass tech one of in the modern format, seeing that this pack almost looks like it could be more modern designed. I wouldn't doubt it

The card is definitely real. Here's a promotional photo for Magic: Origins showing off Hixus as an intro pack rare, a boosterpack, and a fatpack:
As you can see, the original image I posted was taken from this image and zoomed in. The messed up bottom is really just a section of the top of the fatpack.

Dang dangity dang dang!! That looks so cool!! How dare you ignite the hype in me, CastleSiege, when it's still so far until the spoiler season!!
Also AFAIK, there's nobody here that's calling it a fake

The_Wolf_Pack put out the possibility that it could be a fake. I was merely proving it's real :P

Oh yea, guess I missed that...
THE HYPE HAS BLINDED ME!!

I'm still not all that excited. Will be hard for Wizards to top M15 for me.
JWiley129 says... #2
If this is real, it's a super interesting design. I could see him being around a 3/4, but definitely P<T.
