How long until Zen Fetch reprints?

Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation forum

Posted on Dec. 3, 2015, 11:48 a.m. by TheAnnihilator

I'm under the impression that since we didn't see the enemy fetches printed closer to Tarkir, we won't see them for a while -- maybe until the next Modern Masters set.

I don't have a very pressing need for them -- my shop allows proxies for Modern tourneys -- but I need to get my sets of Misty Rainforest/Scalding Tarn eventually. I am willing to sink a chunk of value into them, but I'd prefer not to trade into them just before they get reprints.

Any speculation on when they might get another print run?

They will probably be reprinted in Shadows over Innistrad. Just to fuck with us.

I doubt we'll see them in modern masters 3... Neither of the sets made so far have a cycle of rare lands reprinted.

Plus they were sortof just reprinted as expeditions (I know that's a fairly limited run but its a reprint regardless).

At the very least they'll probably wait til the tango/battle/whatever lands are in zendikar right now to rotate out if they decide to reprint them in a standard set... The standard manabase is waaay too good right now and I'm not sure they want to keep it that way.

So... Not anytime soon imo.

But then again, That's JUST A THEORY!

@abenz419 Lol, I didn't expect to get an answer that exact! Looks like they won't get reprinted for a long time. In fact, it won't be until exactly 2.84637674 E88 years from now.

The next reprint will be in negative two months. They were already reprinted. Don't expect to see them again unless it's in some supplemental set, or in maybe 4-5 years from now.

i could see reprints of the Zen fetches as Khans rotates. 4-5 and even 3 color decks will be hit hard by the rotation and the converge mechanic becomes even less playable

so while i would assume it would be a 2 or so years+ from now, the tempo lands may indicate something different.

I think MM3 headlines with Lili, Snappy, cavern of souls, aether vial, and some other stuff like that. Prob Goyf again too. That will be the big timers, I think the Fetches are a better draw for a future standard. They make big $ off standard fetches.

We won't be seeing Scalding Tarn and friends until after BFZ would rotate out of Standard. So at minimum we're looking at 18 months until new fetchlands. At maximum? Probably around 2-4 years. Wizards wants Standard to constantly change, and putting fetchlands back in doesn't change the format enough. It's this same reason why I don't think we'll be seeing Flashback in SOI, but that's for another thread.

DevoidMage - If you're referring to the Expeditions, I'm not sure those actually count as "reprints". Expeditions are more so a "here's a cool thing" not a "let's reprint these badly needed cards".

Will the fetches be part of the next set of expeditions too?

JWiley129 says... #11

Didgeridooda - No, the Oath expeditions will be 20 different ones than the BFZ ones.

Cool, thanks for that. All spec so far on which, or were there any hints?

I'm just going to 2nd what DevoidMage said about them just coming with the last set. It's not the availability everyone would like to see but it was a reprint nonetheless. If they're destined to see another print then I wouldn't hold my breath, in fact I iust caved and recently picked up the Scalding Tarns I needed for my modern deck. But at the end of the day only wotc really knows for sure.

Definitely in future standard. Wizards makes more money, and it actually makes a huge difference in the price(larger print runs). I expect soon, I'm just not sure if they'll give them to us with the battle lands or not

Probably gonna be the innistrad tap lands in OGW for expeditions

Goalith says... #16

I think they would put Zen fetches next year since at worse, it would only make standard mana base really good for 6 months

Harashiohorn says... #17

Well fortunately since the fetchlands aren't plane bound, we could see them very soon indeed, Shadows at the soonest, and honestly that would make some sense since Delve, and Landfall both benefit a lot from them, also the Fetchable Tangolands are a lot worse without fetches, AND the format has a lot of multi-color viability right now, and losing the fetches really hurts that, especially with burn trying to make a comeback.

They will be put in a big fall set to make another "the most opened set ever". Modern Masters will never have a rare land cycle, because wizards can use rare land cycles to move expansion sets for months. Like, why would they give you everything you want in one product, when they can separate it into 10 products?

JuicyPVP says... #19

Also agreeing, they just were reprinted. If Wizards reprints them in a standard set now, I think people would have an overall negative effect. Not to mention Wizards doesn't actually want you to play Modern. They want you to play standard...

Negative reaction*

Eventually.

My money is on checklands for SOI. They were in the original ISD and work well with the tango lands

JuicyPVP says... #22

Agreed. Checklands seem logical.
