How Often Will Deserts Appear After this Block?

The Amonkhet block is the first time in many years that lands with the desert subtype have appeared in this game, and it naturally explored that subtype further, so I am now wondering how often deserts shall appear after this block.
I believe that it is reasonable to presume that deserts shall not be in every set, but may appear on occasion; perhaps if there is a block on a cold and wintry plane, there may be deserts, since deserts can be cold as often as they are hot, as the main defining traits of deserts are that they are flat, open, and largely devoid of life.
What does everyone else say about this? How often shall deserts appear after this block?
You may get lucky in a core set. Otherwise I think it may go the way of the snow covered land in Cold Snap.

I'm guessing a 3-5 on the "Storm Scale", where it's a popular, functional, and rich mechanic, but it will need the right flavor fit to return. Kinda like Investigate from SOI, where it's a great mechanic but it's a bit narrow for flavor.
However, deserts benefit by being a land, which are always in sets, so it's possible that we'll see 2 and 3 Deserts in some sets without full-blown Desert themes, like we saw Curses in Amonkhet.

Lordeh, why do you believe that?
TMBRLZ, wastes are unrelated to deserts, apart from being barren and devoid of life.

I was answering your question by bringing up the relevant usefulness of Wastes.

TMBRLZ, I doubt that Wastes shall be appearing very frequently in the future, so are you saying that the same shall be true for deserts?

Precisely. Wastes were created with pretty much only one set in mind.
While the concept is more versatile, I wouldn't be surprised if the same goes for Deserts. This would be one of the few non-basic land types we've had since... idk... Gates.

Wastes are useful beyond the Return to Zendikar set. Now commander players don't have to break the bank when using a colorless general.

TMBRLZ, why do the Urza lands have their own types? I know that gates and lairs have in-game functions for their types, but do the Urza lands need to have their own types?

Couldn't say. Never noticed they did until now. Probably just a design idea at the time since they knew these lands were semi bonkers, even back then. Magic was still really growing from a rules and interactions standpoint back then as far as I can tell, so I disregard oddities like that.

Deserts really have to be kinda flavorfully related to the set though. And with Amonkhet/HOU it was set in a fully desert area it made sense. But there aren't a whole lot of deserts in Ixalan probably. Or Dominaria, where we're going after Ixalan.
