Huey Dewey & Louie

The nickname for Khans Of Tarkir is Huey Dewey & Louie. As some of you know those are Donald Ducks nephews.
People have been speculating that the new block will be a wedge theme. Coincidentally, Huey Duey & Louie's outfits are Red Blue & Green. One of the wedge color combos.
Does anybody else think this might be why they chose that nickname? Does Wizards Of The Coast actually put that much effort into coming up with set nicknames?
Or am I just crazy?....

Well your observation makes me think it is slightly more likely than I thought before. I was about 75% on thinking it was going to be wedges based upon them re-printing enemy pain lands and the released art being White, Black, and Red (another of the wedges) and them choosing colors for art very carefully. I find it very easy to believe that they would put some thought into the set nick names too.

I don't think we're getting wedges in Khans block unfortunately. Wizards has a rule about how often they do a multicolor block. They broke that rule by printing Lorwyn/Shadowmoor so close to Shards, and learned that hybrid sets counted as multicolor, and Maro said that they wouldn't be breaking that rule again any time soon.
With RTR rotating out, we're losing two entire sets of duals. Even with painlands, scrylands and Mana Confluence , three color support is going to be tough. Unless Khans has trilands in addition to the allied painlands (or some other duals), I doubt three color is going to be very playable unless it's just splash of one or two of the three colors.

@smash10101: Tricolor decks just dominated the Block Pro-tour, I think the manabases will be fine.

The fact that Theros is focused on monocolor decks and the rule about multicolor sets makes me pretty sure that it won't be a wedge block, although I like enemy colored wedges just fine so I'd be down for that.

If they do a wedge theme, I can see them printing Ramaz. When Kiora was in DotP, she came out in a set not long after. Ramaz is a RUG walker that is also connected to the Bolas story line.

Ravnica (the last heavily mutlicoloured set) is rotating so making another multi colour isn't going to be a problem

I just love how Ramaz isn't even featured in the "Checking in on the Planeswalkers"-Article.
By the way, that's a bit offtopic, but what happend to Daily Mtg? Did "daily" become the new synonym for "33 days ago" over night?

TexasDice it's probably because they never gave him a card. Did you notice Sifa wasn't mentioned? Or any other planeswalker that doesn't have a card for that matter.

This is what happened to daily mtg:

As for the code names, Kamigawa was earth, wind, fire, three of the Asian elements. Shards was rock, paper, scissors, which is a game about "factons" going against "factons". In shards, however, the "factons" were the shards, not rock, paper and scissors. Zendikar was live, long, prosper, a saying from star trek. In Zendikar, "aliens" from another plane, the Eldrazi, are taking over. I don't think that's a coincidence.
Also, they didn't mention Dack, either. And he has a card!

Maybe the next one will be baby, got, back and feature creatures with high toughness. Good time to reprint Doran

@TexasDice: Three+ color decks are great with shocks, temples and Mana Confluence . They won't be so hot after RTR rotates. Painlands are much worse than shocklands in color heavy decks.

smash10101: He said block pro tour. All the lands they had were temples and Mana Confluence . Pain lands simply add another option for producing alternate colors of mana.

I don't think Khans will be Bizzaralara (ie. the wedge block, but you knew that, right?) simply because RTR was so recent and they don't do multicolour blocks that close to each other. They do one on average every three to four years. Two years is just too soon; they know from experience that players will get tired of it otherwise.

I'm with those saying that RTR is too close to print another multicolour block. While I have nothing against multicolour, I think we need a breather from it.

I think another set is will be Dragons of Tarkir because I saw an article where Wizards of the Coast trademarked it.

It's not so outlandish as to be impossible. People have been calling for a very long time for proper wedge support.
The shirt color observation is pretty clever, even if it doesn't turn out to be true. Additionally, this block is set on Sarkhan's home plane. Sarkhan originally appeared in Alara, which brought us the shards. Bringing wedges with Khans would only be fitting.
