Inquisition of Kozilek in BfZ?

Do you think Inquisition of Kozilek will get a reprint in BfZ? It's a Modern staple, after all. Besides, Thoughtseize is going out.

Boza says... #2

Quite unlikely, since Kozilek is not on Zendikar right now. He is roaming the Blind Eternities along with Emrakul.

Make it a functional reprint -- Inquisition of Ulamog! (sarcasm)

Ulamog seems more of a "punch first, ask questions while punching" kind of guy...not so much an "inquiring" mind. :P

August 25, 2015 11:23 a.m.

Then call it "Interrogation of Ulamog!" XD

Maringam says... #7

Nah, they don't reprint cards we want. (Fetchlands, Serum Visions, -sob-)

August 25, 2015 12:27 p.m.

Maringam says... #8

Instead, we get...

Call of the Herd. Shit!

abenz419 says... #9

hahaha... yeah they never reprint cards we want. That's why there's no fetches in Khans, no Serum Visions reprint not (even as an FNM promo), no shocks in RTR, and why modern masters sets don't actually exist. They hate everyone who plays Magic: the Gathering and never reprint useful cards. Stupid Wizards of the Coast, never gives us anything we want.... ever.

August 25, 2015 1:33 p.m.

Right, Maringam... Cuz that's JUST what Modern Junk/Jund needs... another flashback value spell like Lingering Souls.

August 25, 2015 1:35 p.m.

Maringam says... #11

Shush shhhhh Don't tell them that it's legal!

August 25, 2015 1:42 p.m.

Oh crap, I didn't know that Call of the Herd was already legal... Why doesn't it see any play?

ChiefBell says... #14

Because lingering souls is specifically included to halt liliana. At least it was initially.

August 25, 2015 2:13 p.m.

But is CotH actually playable? As a control player, I know the the main threat any BGx deck has against me (excpet Lili, of course) is Lingering Souls, so CotH doesn't seem like a bad card to me.

After some research, it seems that Pod made CotH pretty bad, but now that the format has shifted, is Call still a bad... well, call for the format?

August 25, 2015 2:25 p.m.

Maybe this is best discussed in another forum.

aside from the obvious cost and color, the biggest difference between the two is that Lingering Souls provides a way to go a little wider (albeit with 1/1's) than most decks are prepared to handle with their 1-for-1 removal. 1x Lingering Souls requires that your opponent answers four creatures, whereas 1x Call of the Herd requires you to answer only two creatures. Plus, add that to the fact that Lingering Souls produces fliers and it really puts it over the top compared to Call of the Herd because they aren't chump blocked as easily. Without even looking at CMC's Lingering Souls is just clearly a better option, so when you factor cost's in then it becomes even more obvious. Having a flashback cost of only 2 really makes Lingering Souls that much better as you'll (more often than not) actually be able to cast multiple spells in a single turn, or at worst have mana open to react or respond to whatever your opponent does on their turn

Where are we finding that Call of the Herd is reprinted? I can't find it in all the usual places i check.

August 25, 2015 4:31 p.m.

Lifa It hasn't really been reprinted, it was a joke. but the card is still actually modern legal, which I didn't know.

August 25, 2015 5:43 p.m.

Wait, no. Nevermind. Let's spread the rumor... Maybe we can make it to mythicspoiler.com!

Right? No? Ok...

Jokes on elephants aside ... :P

Ok, I get that it wouldn't be flavorful, but maybe will all the Eldrazi Titans come back on Zendikar in a second moment? Speaking merely about flavor, it could be that in the second-third block of Zendikar Ulamog's friends come back to "help" their little brother. :P

In that case we could see IoK, or other cards.

August 25, 2015 5:52 p.m.

@TheLivingCME Eldrazi don't strike me as the family-matters type. =P

@TheAnnihilator But don't you see all the motherly love on Emrakul's face? :(

August 25, 2015 6:13 p.m.

@TheLivingCME You mean that's her face? And she's a she? Unless a father can have "motherly love"...

August 25, 2015 6:21 p.m.

TheLivingCME says... #25

@TheAnnihilator After all, Emrakul was thought to be Emeria, wasn't it?

August 25, 2015 6:34 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #26

Emrakul --> Emeria

Ulamog --> Ula

Kozilek --> Cosi

August 25, 2015 6:42 p.m.

TheLivingCME says... #27

Exactly. In fact, there are some cards (like Hand of Emrakul) that point out Zendikar's people believed that they were gods.

P.S.: The "Kamsa" in that text is the Kor name for "Emeria".

Boza i keep seeing that people are saying him and emrakul arent on zendikar. are there any sources that show this?

August 25, 2015 8:04 p.m.

swkelly89, Ulamog is the only titan that has been mentioned by name to be on zendikar recently. In fact, i don't remember anything that would imply he's not the only one.
