Is Blue Devotion Dead Now?

With the spoiling of Deicide, it looks like MUD and other Blue Devotion variants will all be going down. Bile Blight and Drown in Sorrow only weakened MUD, but a two-drop, instant speed removal for the best card in Blue Devotion decks seem like it'll end MUD time at the top. Thoughts?

I unfortunately can't post images, but it should be here: http://mythicspoiler.com/newspoilers.html

Oh, duh. I was looking for a black card.
Yeah, that's pretty good. I don't think that it'll make Master of Waves any worse though. MUD may struggle a tad, but Master's still plenty powerful enough to hold his own.
IMO, of course.

MUD is certainly going to be seeing fewer decks in standard play, but I don't see it dying out. This really can't do anything against non enchantment versions of U devo (yes, it can be made).
But, if you believe that this is the end of the line, can't the same thing be said about other devotion builds?

I play U/w devotion and MUD and with the prevalence of Black/control decks in the format, Thassa, God of the Sea was the only thing keeping my head above water. Now that Thassa, God of the Sea can go relatively uncontested so early in the game, I see myself struggling a lot unless they print something just as format changing.
Also, the cost isn't too restrictive, so I can see MBD splashing white for Deicide (though not really for anything else; not enough to where it's Orzhov midrange).
The deck has won me an FNM (quite hard to do considering my local store gets 175+ people per FNM) and a top 64 in an SCG Open, but now I'm seriously contemplating taking the deck apart. Thoughts?

Looks like I'll have to make the full swap to R/W Burn.

Heck, I would splash that card on flavor alone...
If you're confident in your archetype, I wouldn't change it until you are 100% positive that it is dead / dying, or until Sam Black stops playing it.

MUD now dies every time to Esper/Azorius. The only thing Esper control loses to in MUD is god-like opening hands and Thassa.

Maybe go back to the drawing board with it. one option: why not just throw a few copies into U/w and just plan out the necessary adjustments for side boarding in case you see your opponent threatening to play it? in my opinion, if one card can take down an entire deck, than it's not a deck worth playing.
April 17, 2014 12:51 a.m.
But the only reasons why MUD is worth playing are Master of Waves (dies/fails horrifically to board-wipes) and Thassa (now gets killed-dead by Deicide instead of being an iffy D-Sphere target).

@GPaps22-Blue Devotion is the only deck that runs a 4-of God, which is the most powerful God so far, and is really only contested by Athreos, God of Passage .
MUD relies on Master of Waves and Thassa, God of the Sea to tie a bunch of what-were standard unplayables together. Master of Waves is easily answered, and now for 2-Mana and white deck (and any deck that splashes white) can take out the lifeblood of MUD while seeing other cards of the deck and getting information of whats going on in the hand.
Mono Black Devotion doesn't even run Erebos, God of the Dead main board, and there are only 1-2 side boarded. Erebos isn't a core part of the MBD (Thoughtseize , Hero's Downfall , etc.)
Any other gods that see play in decks really aren't vital and are more 1-2 of main boarded, and the deck can still win with ease without them.

I'm just looking forward to casting this and saying "where is your god now?"

MUD isn't dead. It might have to change, but it's not dead. Maybe it could get some overall stronger enablers so it's not reliant on Thassa and Master. We still have half of JOU to be spoiled and some major rare/ common or uncommon could put MUD back on top.

MUD is a solid deck with no real flaws to its game plan. Piloted by a great player that grabs leathal at the moment its possible and dosnt pretend its a control deck because they are tapping islands..well they are going to be happy playing MUD and doing small tweaks to it till they grow tired of playing it. This deck like most of the other Dev decks is rock solid in resilience to almost all other strategys so far trying to break it. The deck is a well oiled machine and I would play it if I had the cards for it. I think it should splash red for the flash double damage enchantment on opponents end step because of thassa's unblockable activated ability. It seems the best suited of all to really use that card efficiantly beside R/W Burn w/ Reckoner.

It is a solid deck. That's not what we're doubting.
We're just saying that it will most likely become very weak now, because every single top tier control deck will simply destroy it even more so now.
With control getting more and more popular, MUD will have a very hard time staying alive.

Slaughter games at instant speed for two! And white gets a reprint of oblivion ring and sword of kaldra. Wizards is manaist

LOL. This card is really stupid. Predicting now that the meta is going to be decks with deicide and decks that lose to deicide and that's it. Well done wizards.
April 17, 2014 5:15 a.m.
I find it really mystifying how wizards print all these cards which are powerful, but balanced due to the devotion mechanic and then also print the perfect counter to them, making them unplayable (unless of you course you like 1 card being able to exile 4 of your own).

I feel bad for all the people who are pre-ordering gods.

Which card are you talking about that will take down an entire archetype?
I didn't find any card names "Deicide" in the spoilers, nor did I find anything for 2 mana that could remotely touch MUD in the last couple days...
