BS-T says... #1

So are we thinking that's it for Mythics in this set? - I make it 15 spoiled.

September 16, 2016 8:11 a.m.

_Delta_ says... #2

Yeah that's probably all of them.

September 16, 2016 8:14 a.m.

AwezomePozzum says... #3

Phaetion: GG you've won the internet.

September 16, 2016 9:39 a.m.

AwezomePozzum says... #4

BS-T: Yes, I believe so. STILL GOT THAT AETHER REVOLT THO.

September 16, 2016 9:40 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #5

Talking about trains: I want to alter my legacy eldrazi deck. I want the Mimics to look like railroads and the Reality Smasher like Thomas the Train, so I can yell "CHO CHOOO" while I hit them for 20 turn 2.

September 16, 2016 10:17 a.m.

AgentGreen says... #6

$5 tells me that someone at pre-release who uses these is going to be saying "cho-choo mofo" when they swing. At least at my LGS anyway

September 16, 2016 10:38 a.m.

AwezomePozzum says... #7

AgentGreen: CHOO CHOO

Yup, this is gonna be great.

September 16, 2016 11:06 a.m.

shinobigarth says... #8

ALL ABOAAAAAARD!

September 16, 2016 11:35 a.m.

Dangggg, alot of good uncommons and commons spoiled today

September 16, 2016 11:42 a.m.

Phaetion says... #10

Nature's Way is pretty good. Kill an opponent's creature, then grant vigilance and trample? Ouch.

September 16, 2016 11:44 a.m.

supagrex says... #11

September 16, 2016 11:59 a.m.

K34 says... #12

Dramatic reversal
Instant
Untap all nonland permanents you control.

I know I've seen similar effects before, but I can't remember if they were instants or 2 mana. This goes with Isochron Scepter and any rock that can tap for more than to create infinite mana.

September 16, 2016 12:10 p.m.

IzzetGod says... #13

K34: That's right! Having Isochron Scepter exiling Dramatic Reversal and having something like Gilded Lotus will create infinite mana!

September 16, 2016 12:15 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #14

OMG A DECENT BLUE DRAW SPELL

enter image description here

OMFG I DIDN'T THINK WIZARDS HAD THE HEART

And calm. Now that blue isn't absolute garbage, maybe more decks will pop up.

September 16, 2016 12:26 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #15

Best of the rest just came out!

September 16, 2016 12:29 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #16

The art for Dramatic reversal shows the Gatewatch forming with Ajani; Chandra giving Jace some sass in the flavor text, but it looks like Aether Revolt will pit Tezzeret and the Consulate againstthe Renegades, Ajani and the Gatewatch.

Anything that results in Tezz running back to his master; The Gatewatch would now have Bolas' full attention; and he's going to be pissed

September 16, 2016 12:30 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #17

Well yeah, the next block is on Bolas' plane so obviously it'll connect.

September 16, 2016 12:35 p.m.

I can't be the only one who wants to get that train altered to look like Blaine the Mono, can I?

.......

Yeah, that's probably just me.

September 16, 2016 12:40 p.m.

Aztraeuz says... #19

Blaine the Mono? I'm assuming a quick Google search could tell me what you are talking about, but I'm lazy, it's nap time.

I REALLY like that Dramatic Reversal. I'm already crafting ways to abuse it.

September 16, 2016 12:58 p.m.

HOPMONSTER says... #20

I'm with ya rooroothepirate! And then we need some riddles in Aether Revolt!

September 16, 2016 1:02 p.m.

Alright now that all of Kaladesh has been spoiled, shameless plug time. Here's trying to make Madcap Experiment work: Protective Eye-ware Required

September 16, 2016 1:06 p.m.

As someone who has a mild form of Magic OCD, I am more than a slight bit irritated that we didn't get a mono-white Legendary in Kaladesh. We got black (Gonti), blue (that artifact chick), green (Oviya), and red (Pia). No white. Wtf Wizards.

September 16, 2016 1:09 p.m.

Ghorrhyon says... #23

So Wizards went and printed the very Hype Train. The absolute madmen.

September 16, 2016 1:56 p.m.

chaoswalker says... #24

I think this card is everything I've ever wanted. 0.0

enter image description here

Mix it with a little bit of Dungrove Elder or just some good o'l green death touch and you're in business.

September 16, 2016 3:09 p.m.

------ says... #25

Revolutionary Rebuff, Ceremonius Rejection, Glimmer of Genius, Select for Inspection, Dramatic Reversal

Need more? Mono blue control makes a comeback.

September 16, 2016 3:33 p.m.

Bovine073 says... #26

Holy crap that's a good card in limited. First pickable by a mile!

September 16, 2016 4:06 p.m.

Araganor says... #27

Speaking of first-pickable, what about Confiscation Coup? Looks really powerful. You can steal smaller stuff and be net positive on energy, or with just 2 more energy you are already at the point of stealing Gearhulks. Also, the back side of flip cards count as 0 cmc. Imagine your opponent's face if you steal Ormendahl with this! Sadly meld cards are a combination of both cmcs, so stealing Brisela is not likely.

Also, based on the art from the new Diabolic Tutor, I get the feeling that a Red/Black Chandra may be on the way soon. Or some weird Liliandra shipping going on...

September 16, 2016 4:42 p.m.

Zaueski says... #28

Araganor:

Not quite, the rules were updated during SOI:

"Under the new rules, the converted mana cost of the back face of a DFC is based on the mana cost of the front face. (Previously, because the back faces lacked mana costs, their converted mana costs were all 0.) The one exception is if something is a copy of the back face of a DFC, its converted mana cost is 0." - Matt Tabak on the SOI Mechanics article

September 16, 2016 4:47 p.m.

Araganor says... #29

Zaueski

I was unaware of this change, thanks for the info. To be honest that makes more sense. Although, even with this rules update it would still hit Ormendahl, Profane Prince  Flip since it was originally a land.

Anyway it does seem pretty powerful in limited regardless. Standard maybe not since it is fairly slow and doesn't do much against Delirium or Emerge. I think it has potential however.

September 16, 2016 4:54 p.m.

Oooh, more one-sided Fights? Yes, please.

September 16, 2016 6:27 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #31

The new fight card is pretty sick. Not sure if any modern deck wants it, probably not but still cool.

September 16, 2016 6:41 p.m.

It's more like a worse Fall of the Hammer.

September 16, 2016 7:45 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #33

Gain Vigilance and trample, lose instant speed. Not necessarily worse, but different. Not using Fall of the Hammer to alpha strike usually.

September 16, 2016 7:58 p.m.

chaoswalker says... #34

The major difference is that it's in a color that has bigger creatures who will actually use the vigilance.

September 16, 2016 8:01 p.m.

OP_Magikarp says... #35

So at common and uncommon, red seems to have the most removal spells. And I would even put white with more removal than black. It will be interesting to see what archetypes pop up in limited and I wouldn't be surprised to see a control style deck

September 16, 2016 8:31 p.m.

APPLE01DOJ says... #36

I think the commons and uncommons are better than the rares and mythics.

September 16, 2016 11:58 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #37

its not a worse Fall of the Hammer. no instant sucks, but youre gaining trample and vigilance, so in green youre most likely killing one of their problematic creatures, if not biggest, as well as getting your fatty in for at least a little damage, and if it survives, letting it block too. with Fall, you might be able to use it as a combat trick against whoever blocks your fatty, but if that happens its still blocked which sucks for you if your fatty happens to not have trample.

CChaos says... #38

What is the general opinion on the black cards of this set?

September 17, 2016 2:42 a.m.

OP_Magikarp says... #39

Chaos from a standard point of view I see them as below par. We lost great cards such as Languish, Ultimate Price, and Read the Bones but didn't get any solid replacements. I'll be interested to see how black's role in standard shifts. As for limited, no super strong removal but the creatures are decent. So just an average color strength

September 17, 2016 7:29 a.m.

clayperce says... #40

Has anyone already pointed out how cool the art, mechanics, and flavor text of [Built to Last] and [Built to Smash] are together?
Flavor Judge says +1!

September 17, 2016 10:18 a.m. Edited.

shinobigarth says... #41

black seems to be lacking, but then Kaladesh doesnt appear to be very black centric in general so it makes sense. i can also guarantee Amonkhet will be fairly black centric.

September 17, 2016 12:09 p.m.

AwezomePozzum says... #42

shinobigarth: We'll see, but I personally hope that it is.

September 17, 2016 9:52 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #43

Amonkhet hype > Kaladesh hype

September 18, 2016 3:45 a.m.

square711 says... #44

Nah, the Kaladesh hype has died down a little because some people are underwhelmed by the mechanics, but a lot of people were really looking forward to it since Origins. Amonkhet may very well turn out to be a better set, but right now it doesn't seem so exciting.

September 18, 2016 9:16 a.m.

Atony1400 says... #45

@square711, the real value in Kaladesh is the commons and uncommons. We're getting valube reprints like Diabolic Tutor (with really nice art and flavor, might I add), and Demolish (also with new art). We're getting valuble new cards too, like Hijack, Fortuitous Find, and Propeller Pioneer. Pauper affinity may actually possible now! I don't think it could get much better than that!

September 18, 2016 10:52 a.m.

square711 says... #46

Yeah, I agree with you. Even the rares and mythics don't seem that weak IMO, and a couple may even be playable in eternal formats (I'm looking at you, Cathartic Reunion). I'm quite satisfied with Kaladesh's power level and the new mechanics. It's other players that seem unimpressed (and it may be just a vocal minority anyway).

September 18, 2016 11:54 a.m.

square711 says... #47

Wow, I just noticed Cathartic Reunion is a common. Holy crap.

September 18, 2016 11:55 a.m.

The hype train seems to be pretty strong to me. Personally, I haven't been this excited for a set since I came back to Magic during Khans of Tarkir.

September 18, 2016 12:42 p.m.

Araganor says... #49

I'm still excited to draft Kaladesh. It's a shame that the masterpiece series (and Chandra) is going to make the EV for the set tank, but it's going to be fun to play with regardless.

September 18, 2016 1:01 p.m. Edited.

Atony1400 says... #50

Good news! Kaladesh will be the first set to have all the differect basic land art'ls in the database using the "add variations" feature! Enjoy!
