Kaladesh release date: September 30th (2016).
Three-letter code: KLD
Number of cards: 264
Prerelease: September 24-25, 2016
Way too much Flying!! I didn't pull almost any, I'm losing games to Flying.

I'm sure my next prerelease will be better.

So I opened some of the following from my 3 prereleases:
Sword of Feast and Famine in my third prerelease with this I went undefeated!
1x Torrential Gearhulk as one of my foil promos.
1x Fumigate

BOO!! I got Masterpiece Hangarback Walker but Sword of Feast and Famine is much better!!
September 24, 2016 9:33 p.m.
Delta-117 I pity the poor fool that has to play against a Sword in a standard draft.

So turns out Aetherflux Reservoir is super good in two-headed giant sealed. My partner and I were able to go undefeated and straight up win two matches with it.

I've already taken decks apart. We always do a bunch of trading after prizes are handed out.
I don't usually play Standard or Modern so I tend to get some pretty good trades my way. I'll stock up on Standard stuff when I get my boxes.
September 25, 2016 12:28 a.m.
Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor it still only gains life from the player controlling it... except for longer games and thus a bit more lifegain than usual I don't see it being very good in 2HG, mind to enlighten me?

Chandrian: Is your name a reference to The King Killer Chronicles? Cause if so, I approve. Anyways in regards to your comment, while true that in only triggers off the owner, you "gain 1 life for each spell you cast this turn" so it ends up being alot in the right deck. Plus in 2HG you start with 30 life which is a huge difference maker.
We basically streamlined his deck to be the B/U splash white control/lifegain deck while my deck was a W/R aggressive vehicles deck. Alot of removal went my way allowing for him to set up his board-state with cards like Contraband Kingpin, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, Filigree Familiar, Glint-Nest Crane and Aethersquall Ancient.
Once the Aethersquall Ancient hit the board with Aetherflux Reservoir it was generally game over as he would just bounce the board and replay all his cheap creatures to gain about 10 life a turn while I replayed Depala, Pilot Exemplar or Veteran Motorist to continue the beat down with my vehicles that didn't get bounced. He could also piggy-back onto my big vehicles with Rush of Vitality. I admit I was skeptical at first myself and it could've just been that our pool was perfect for a lifegain deck, but it was remarkably consistent.

it should mention that he ran a fair amount of energy production as well to consistently activate the Aethersquall Ancient.

Yes, my name is a reference to The King Killer Chronicles, I really enjoy those books (the way it's written is on a totally different level than nearly all the books I've read, I will be very happy when the 3rd book comes out).
That looks indeed like a very nice strategy to go for in 2HG. Glad you managed to make good use of it (also forgot about the 30 starting life total).

I didn't get a good pool to build from, today.
Got the Blue Gearhulk and some good Blue and White spells.
Also got Saheeli Rai. She doesn't last for long if you don't have a lot of Creatures to protect her. The Scries are useful.
I made a Blue White deck with a splash of Red.
Two of my Creatures could get Menace if I tapped for Red. I had one Gremlin as well.
All my matches went long, because my deck had a bit of Control.
I used Energy Counters a bit, as well. You can probably tell already that it didn't have a clear focus.
Someone clever suggested that we use the Yellow Pokemon Energy cards with the Yellow lightning on them, to put our Energy Counters on.
Tied the first match 1-1, went 0-1 my other two matches.
I got to return a Counter spell with my Gearhulk, and that helped me win that game. The Gearhulks have proven to be good in Limited.
I did win an extra booster when the shop owner did a treasure hunt with them. He likes to have fun.
Between matches I went around the shop and picked up all the Thopters that people had thrown away. My house is buzzing with them.
Someone offered to trade a Red die with me, because that's my favourite Magic colour and I hadn't opened one. Some Magic players are very nice.
When we got home we opened extra packs we had been given. My partner got a Nissa, which he was excited about.
We bought two prerelease kits which we are going to play with tomorrow night.
Prerelease was good from the point of view that we got a LOT of cards that we need to build our Standard decks.
I got the Chandra Planeswalker deck as well, because it has a lot of singles I need and was a cheaper way of getting them.
Holy hell is Chandra expensive at the moment.

Anyone else think that Weaponcraft Enthusiast looks suspiciously like a Protoss Zealot from the Starcraft series? I think we have a blizzard fan in the art department.
September 25, 2016 3:35 p.m.
Ended up going 3-3 with an aggroy green/red deck. Made a few mistakes that without I could've potentially went 5-1. I did manage to pull Chandra, Torch of Defiance which did A LOT of work. Now that it's over though I want rid of her, I've got no real use for her now and I'd rather get her value while she's worth something.

Just missed out on top 8 yesterday; even going 3-2, but losing out in tiebreakers.
Made top 8 today, and from my winning packs I managed to snag a foil Saheeli Rai, which I will flip as soon as I can as I don't see her price going up

Played ina 2HG prerelease. I built a low curve mono-black with an artifact focus, my fiance went white/blue fliers. So much fun. Consul's Flagship did great work for us, and the Harvester's Caravan is an auto-include. went 2-1, and was completely mana screwed in the round we lost.

Went 4-1 yesterday and finished 4th with a U/G energy deck. At one point I had about 14 energy and dropped an Architect of the Untamed and a Cultivator of Blades the same turn...the game ended shortly after that. My only match loss came due to a mull to 4 in game one where I only saw 1 land and the second game my opponent dropped an AEther Vial turn one and I got land screwed a second time.
September 26, 2016 11:45 a.m.
Oh yeah, in terms of cards obtained from pre release that I NEEDED, I only got:
- Scrapheap Scrounger, as previously mentioned
- Revolutionary Rebuff, but only ONE
- Harsh Scrutiny... AGAIN only one.
Though I was mostly after mythics (the three Gearhulks in grixis colours and Saheeli Rai), but I'm still after Incendiary Sabotage and Filigree Familiar (neither of which anyone there pulled), and the aforementioned cards in the list above. :L
Still, it's better than last pre release, where I saw nothing I wanted... :(
September 26, 2016 1:53 p.m.
My partner and I bought a prerelease pack each and played a game of Sealed at home.
I had a lot of strong UW cards for my deck, so it won fairly easily.
I had Dovin Baan in there, and even had his Emblem, but he never fell into my hand in any of the games.
That took our Planeswalker count to 4.
Two Saheeli and one Dovin for me, one Nissa for him.
September 27, 2016 12:23 a.m.
After trades and pulls I got some pretty good cards. I ended up with 2 copies of Chandra, Torch of Defiance, promo Pia Nalaar, like 5 of the lands with 2 being promo, a few relevant vehicles including Fleetwheel Cruiser and the dwarf lady, and I think the last notable one was a normal Torrential Gearhulk. I ended up winning the midnight, lost most of my 2HG matches, and dropped during the 6 o'clock one.

I now really want to see some sort of energy theft card in Aether Revolt. Like:
Take Back The Power
Sorcery
Remove all from target player. You get that many .
Or something like that.
September 27, 2016 9:48 a.m.
man, energy theft sounds almost like a given now that you mention it.
September 27, 2016 10:04 a.m.
Zaueski you are a lucky bugger getting TWO Chandras.
A playset cost me plenty for my Standard brew.
Luckily my partner and I cracked most of the other cards we needed for our brews. Apart from the Chandras, they are two of the cheapest decks we have put together.

I only attended one prerelease. I opened garbage + blue gearhulk in my sealed pool, but still managed to go 3-1 which awarded me 4 additional packs. Those prize packs are what allowed me to break even with the flagship and white gearhulk barely making the event worthwhile cost-wise.
September 27, 2016 10:12 a.m.
@Argeaux well I only opened one. The other one cost me an Original Flooded Strand and a Spellskite in trade lmao. I still need two more for my current brew but other than those two I have almost all the cards for it.

I skipped the prereleases and spent the money sniping heaps of playsets of cards that will (hopefully) increase in value. This speculative trading was actually more fun that my last prerelease, so go figure lol.
Remember- Collected Company was $1.50 when it first dropped a year ago...just sayin'

Hey, while this may be the wrong thread to talk about this (I can't find some sort of semi-official custom mechanic thread), I've been designing a mechanicfor a custom set as a sort of hybrid between Bolster and Fabricate.
If this IS the wrong thread, please tell me where I should be going. Thanks!
September 28, 2016 9:44 a.m.
AwezomePozzum, perhaps the kitchen table? I'd be interested to see it.

AwezomePozzum says... #31
Where do I find the kitchen table, Bovine073?
Anyway, the mechanic is a fabricate style, but instead if servos VS counters on the creature with the mechanic, it is "Create # 1/2 Flying Bird Soldier tokens" VS "Choose up to # target creatures you control. Put a +1/+1 counter on each of them". (NOTE: It is intentional that you can choose the creature with the mechanic as one of the creatures that recieve counters. NOTE 2: It does not use the target wordingwhich means it goes around shroudbut I'm considering changing it to target).

I'm having trouble fining it, do you have a link? If so please give it to me.

AwezomePozzum, on second thought, I think the custom cards forum is far better for this kind of thing.

Bovine073 The link is borked. Did you hyperlink it or just type it?
Anyways, trying it now.

I did it. Want to talk about it?
Also, Can I have some assistance for taking PNG files in my computer and putting them into my posts? I am kind of inexperienced in that regard.

I cracked a foil Chandra tonight out of a Kaladesh Bundle.
So now that means my partner and I have opened all the Kaladesh Planeswalkers.
Him: Nissa.
Me: 2x Saheeli, Dovin, a foil Chandra.
September 30, 2016 4:22 p.m.
Ugh no fair Argeaux! I hope I have that kind of luck tonight when I open my box. Unfortunately I can't outright buy my deck for the first FNM because poor college student, but I'm hoping to get really close to it so I can start posting results.
September 30, 2016 4:29 p.m.
Great luck Argeaux!! You Aussies get all the luck!!
When you gonna fix that General Tazri deck? ;)
September 30, 2016 5:29 p.m. Edited.
iAzire I've tried quite a few different things with General Taz, but I think that tribes can't work in my local EDH meta, unless they are ultra aggressive, like Goblins.
I haven't looked at the deck for a while. I'll take another shot at it this week.

So I need to apologize now... I complained about you being lucky with the foil Chandra, and then I went and pulled Mox Opal tonight from a pack xD
October 1, 2016 4:08 a.m.
Nice crack, Zaueski!
I was hoping for an Invention but I love Chandra, so was very happy with cracking her. Especially a foil version.
We are lucky bastards.

The midnight pre release at the other store (which I didn't go to) pulled a Chrome Mox, and the store itself pulled a Sword of Feast and Famine after the event (he just picked two random kits and pulled one in the last pack XD). One of the peeps in the pre release pulled a Chandra (he came 5th).
I placed fourth overall, and my prize pulls were:
And my rares from my pre release pool were (other than the two I mentioned above):
Ended up in WB (Dynavolt being utter trash for pre release, having practically terrible red, blue and green pools), and won round 1 (2-0), lost round 2 (1-2, made a mistake game 3, played one too many creatures so didn't have mana up for lifelink), won round 3 with ease as I was against a noob, and won round 4 (2-1) not as easily, lost game 1, then had to proper fight for wins for the others.
