Lower CMC DTK Dragons?

Some cheaper dragons is what I would like to see.
It would be great to see decks made of a mix of dragons and non-dragons and then see Crux of Fate come into play a bit more.

I would not like to see cheap dragons - I want dragons that have actually useful abilities, like the FRF dragons. You cannot cheapen the iconics. Plus, you already have Slumbering Dragon as a one mana 3/3.
That shadow dragon thingy is entirely too powerful for standard and possibly even modern.

I've been waiting for a decent replacement for Dragon Hatchling.
I'd like to run a dragon tribal deck and, while the FRF dragons help with that a bit, lower cost dragons are needed to round out the picture.

If decks were a mix of dragons and non-dragons than Crux of Fate would actually come into play less because it would then be far less reliable.

How about replace Prowess with Vigilance?
Make it a 0/1 that can get +1/0 for every R you pay.

No, I want more modern playables. That would be fringe as a replacement for lavamancer.

In regard to Shadow Dragon, it's Dash ability would be a 3 CMC bolt, and hard casting it yields you a Vaporkin with an exit the battlefield ability. I don't think that is dreadfully overpowered. It might have slightly too much synergy with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, but aside from that I feel like it would be relatively fair in modern play.

Interesting thoughts on the Shadow Dragon with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. Fits in with the ideas I am building for a R/B Dragon deck.

I guess they made it Green coz it's a mana generator, and non-flying because it's Green.
It could have had Reach, though.

Anything below 4 cmc would be welcome. There are far too many that clog up 4+ cmc slots right now for anything older than standard. I'd like a fairly competitive dragon deck for once. I think a 3 cmc dragon at least is necessary for it.

That's actually a really interesting combo.
I forgot about Brood Keeper. I've been keeping her on the back burner.
Makes auras very viable.

Brood Keeper + Riptide Chimera + Dragon Mantle
Every turn, for 
, draw a card and get a 2/2 Flying Fire-breathing dragon.

Oh man, I've been using Riptide Chimera to return Aggressive Mining to my hand.

They would need to reprint the keeper though. Otherwise the combo will rotate out and dragons will be kinda meh again.
I could see a similar card being part of dtk though, but we'll see.
