No, it hasn't been spoiled. I wanna discuss what we think or hope we'll see in the last Core set in the history of Magic.
Will they reprint Lightning Bolt ? Birds of Paradise ? Day of Judgment ? Will we see a full set of dual lands? Will there be loads of dragons in the wake of Khans block? Will it even be called Magic 2016? Will they reprint Grizzly Bears ???

I say landfall could come back. It fits the fetches as did Zendikar.

Green - Birds of Paradise
.
It's been too long, and it deserves to be reprinted... though it could technically be printed in any set. (Crosses fingers for set after Fate Reforged.) - Every Standard Cycle should have at least 1-drop green mana dork. Elvish Mystic
and Sylvan Caryatid
will be on their way out... so maybe?
Red - Lightning Bolt
I think it would be good, but Standard would have to be in a state that is able to handle such cheap burn... Magma Jet
and Stoke the Flames
will be on their way out, so it might be possible.
Black - Dark Confidant
Black should always have an efficient card draw enabler with a drawback. Erebos, God of the Dead
and Pain Seer
will be rotating out, leaving room for something of this power level.
White - Mother of Runes
If the above cards are reprinted, White would need some removal that is on-par with the speed of those cards, and allows White to keep a solid board state. - Not sure if this is likely, as it could/would impact Modern... but I think it would be along the lines of what White would need.
Blue - Cerulean Wisps
(or other 1CMC cantrip)
Could also be Whispers of the Muse
(if they use Buyback), Visions of Beyond
, Peek
(hopefully not that simplistic)... or (Serum Visions
?... probably not with Scry rotating out.) - Perhaps 2 CMC for Think Twice
?
Blue Control or Tempo needs good/cheep card draw... with Dig Through Time
still in Standard, they may not add much to Blue's repertoire, but I hope something good.... Remand
?
For Mechanics, I'm hoping Buyback, Unearth, Rebound, Cascade, or Flashback.
I think Cascade is better suited to Block Sets than it is to Core sets... and Flashback was done recently...
So, Buyback, Unearth, or Rebound.

....Not sure what I called Mother of Runes "removal"... I think I had the idea of "protection from removal" in my head, while thinking of Lightning Bolt ...

I think you all need to think about this a little more conservatively. If they are doing the last coreset they are not going to up the complexity to 11 just for shits and giggles and they are not going to break their own rules or destroy the standard meta. It would be awesome if they printed bobs and bolts, but bob is far too complex for a coreset and they don't print 3 damage for r anymore. I even think Shock is of the table since WotC believed that morphs could go into standard. Titans would be cool and I think could work. I'd also like the original planeswalkers but we'll see.

Bob isn't that complex, especially since he would probably would be mythic, so new players wouldn't have the chance to somehow be "confused" if he is really THAT complex.

2 damage 1 drop's spot has been taken by Magma Spray . And it's a technical improvement over Shock .
Also Birds of Paradise isn't that complex and is definitely not mythic level good. he's an effective 1 drop for green ramp decks sure, but reprinting cards like these is what WotC wants to strive for. But I do agree that green should get less favors this core set. Green is getting overplayed this standard.
Mother of Runes would be cool. Gives white weenie decks a chance to hit the scene. Also provides a good 1 drop for abzan builds, which in a sense makes her more OP.

Did you read what you wrote?
Dark Confidant
= Too complex for Standard... but,
Titans would be cool, and could work!

@Rayenous: I actually didn't, but you seemingly did neither. I think Bob is to complex for a coreset, not for standard. Maybe my punctuation wasn't spot on. It was early... Dark Confidant in my opinion is more complex than any titan. People seem to expect a lot from M16, but I just don't see them going way of track with the design, which people seemed to expect.

Frost Titan
has A triggered ability that can counter both Spells and Abilities... and has a 'check' that allows a player to prevent the counter...
It (like all the titans) also has a single ability with 2 different triggers (ETB and Attack)... which has an immediate effect and an effect that applies on the opponents turn.
How, in any way is, Dark Confidant more 'complex' than that?

Can we please not ever see the titans again. Cool thanks.
Also, I'd love an entire "designer set", like a set with a card designed by game designers similar to how M15 had a few.
I'd love a set that referenced other games etc... by their designers. You could include cards like:
Story War
1UU
Instant
Counter target spell, each player shuffles their library. Then each player reveals the top card of their library. They may play the card without paying it's mana cost. If that card is a land, they may reveal the top card. Do this until each player has played anon-land card.
complex to eff but fun!
or maybe:
Legacy of Rogues
1B
Instant
Destroy target creature. That creatures controller may pay 2. If they do, that player searches their library for a creature with converted mana cost less and puts it onto the battlefield tapped.
Okay, more an additional product but hey.

@Opiumtest5 Magma Spray is in no way an improvement over Shock . Any burn that can't hit players is facing a severe drawback.

So you're saying you shouldn't T1 Swiftspear, T2 Seeker of the way, T3 spray their Rabblemaster and then swing for 6 with 3 lifelink? Such casual talk ;)
October 25, 2014 9:16 a.m.
Let's get Animar, Soul of Elements , Kaalia of the Vast and the other commanders into rotation!
See what THAT does to standard ;)

I don't actually see the problem with printing a ton of OP cards in M16As long as you keep a diversity of OP cards in M16 that wont only support a specific deck type then you will just have an extremely powerful standard, and who's to say that's a bad thing.
And if one deck started dominating and becoming unhealthy for the meta game, just ban those cards like they did with delver.
The benefits outweigh the costs for me.

Would love to see a classic like Birds of Paradise printed. But add too many more like Lightning Bolt or more and Standard will be muck pit for a while.

j-person good point. However I think with MM2 coming out, they won't reprint too many modern staple cards.

What if we take all of the really over-powered strategies in the history of MTG, such as Necropotence , affinity, and caw-blade, and take all the cards used in those strategies replaced by less powerful versions. How would you guys react if a card was printed so that it's like Arcbound Ravager , but at 3 mana instead of two, or 5 mana JTMS with the -0 being Serum Visions instead of Brainstorm ?
