MaRo's article got spoiled early, so we have some SPICY Previews with "new" mechanics!
TL;DR: Menace is replacing Intimidate & Landwalk, Prowess is now evergreen primary in Blue secondary in Red and maybe tertiary in White, and Protection is now deciduous used only as necessary.

VampireArmy- Don't forget about a similarly large 4-drop black creature we had recently that dominated standard for months on end- Desecration Demon!

StuntmanTheThird I imagine scenarios where the MBD players casts the Titan and an Abzan player is forced to respond by playing their Rhino into removal instead of removing it with Charm. Situations like this make it a great tempo play. Against a deck like G/R that will typically have a creature in play it is still tough to answer because of the 5 toughness. The recursion is very narrow but that's not a drawback, just icing on the 5/5 for 4 cake. I'm a believer at the moment.

Is it just me or is Origins very steampunky? Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's kind of refreshing. I can just see MaRo sitting in meeting saying, "You know what design space we haven't explored? THOPTERZ."

So I like the Titan but the fact that it only can be recurred with an opponent removing a creature card from their graveyard makes it tough to play with in my book. If you could trigger it by interacting with your own graveyard it would be stellar, but I just feel it is too easily played around right now, unless reanimation outside of Deathmist Raptor and Den Protector becomes a thing in standard.
Also, welcome to my Mayael EDH deck Nissa's Revelation and we have thopter (artifact) chief!

Is it just me who really likes the look of magmatic insight?
U Sorcery
Discard a land card, draw 2 cards.
It feels like it has a lot of potential.

I don't think the red sorcery is that good, there is Tormenting Voice which in my oppinion is better, and it combines with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death.
July 1, 2015 11:21 a.m.
Yep... Definitely see some ppl plying mono blue thopters or ur thopters..

All the thopter cards and most at 2p. I can U/R Artifacts running Alesha. Maybe add some sac effects, could even splash black for that. Likely be popular in draft too.

Is anyone else liking a straight up mono green aggro deck with Gaea's Revenge and the new renown guy as a curve topper?
July 1, 2015 12:02 p.m.
IvoryFrost ~ cute interaction but probably too slow. Imho

Red getting Divination for one mana is pretty lawls, disregarding the discarding. It just means now when red starts to get even the hint of the flood coming in they'll just hold back a land instead of playing it out. This draw spell and that enchantment that shocks at the cost of a land and a mana will make red them some extra lands, which is a nice shift for red in standard.
Still not convinced about that Erebos titan is strong. Don't mean to say its bad, but it's no where near the power level of obliterator or Desecration Demon (during MBD's hay day) that ppl have compared it to. All of its abilities have answers that happen naturally as part of an opponent's plan. On the plus side of the ledger, it eats up a rhino in combat like a fat kid on cheesecake, and I think we can all agree that's a noble pursuit.

I'm disappointed that Herald of the Pantheon isn't an enchantment creature.

Ragon_Wolfbane says... #23
Named_Tawyny, I'm not. It just means that it can't be killed by enchantment hate.
July 1, 2015 12:38 p.m.
Ragon_Wolfbane: Not really. It also means it can't be protected by Greater Auramancy (in Modern), nor recurred with Starfield of Nyx (though I'll concede that once Starfield hits the board, casting costs will be a lot less relevant). And it being an enchantment creature would've made a lot of sense flavor-wise, too.
That said, it's still a great card that will see play in every enchantment deck ever. I'm both delighted and infuriated by how much quality stuff green is getting with this set, compared to other colors.
On an unrelated note, how long before we get a Vryn block? All that steampunk goodness DEMANDS to be made into a full block. Hopefully as soon as they're finished with BfZ.

Zendikar's Roil fits absolutely perfectly into my Nissa/Titania EDH deck.
Other than Nissa, Vastwood Seer Flip definitely the card I NEED most... still WANT Archangel of Tithes more though.

Two more lands, yet I'm not entirely sure if they're designed for Origins:

Sad thing for me and my Phenax-Sultai Mill / Assault Formation deck is, that so far there was no creatures like Dragon's Eye Savants or Disowned Ancestor. Seems like there is no support for the mechanics of this enchantment, despite it's potential.
