MaRo's article got spoiled early, so we have some SPICY Previews with "new" mechanics!

TL;DR: Menace is replacing Intimidate & Landwalk, Prowess is now evergreen primary in Blue secondary in Red and maybe tertiary in White, and Protection is now deciduous used only as necessary.

Lol that's why I didnt even bother thinking that serum visions would be here

Phaetion says... #2

Sorry guys...anything that makes people groan is something I find funny. Sadistic, I know.

But, for real, the other two options (Jace or another blue mythic) are very possible.

June 11, 2015 11:04 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #3

Phaetion - There are usually 3 mythics in each color for a large set.

June 11, 2015 11:14 p.m.

Phaetion says... #4

Which means at least one of the three has Scry.

I would be happy if every copy of Stoke the Flames really was used to help stoke the flames.

What I'm saying is I hate that card. (Oh here you go Abzan have a Rhino that's amazing and hard to kill. Here you go Mardu, have a seemingly sweet demon that dies to Stoke, Plummit, and everything else that could kill the rhino and that takes other creatures to be worth the 4 mana sink in constructed.)

Can't wait until Stoke rotates then my demon will be back! He'll help me flip liliana unless they print another Nest Invader or Sakura-Tribe Elder in which case i'll be playing Golgari.

My friend just pointed out something... Kaladesh is essentially the steampunk plane. We haven't really seen any steampunk cards in Magic... well, except perhaps one.

I can easily see Boggart Brute being an absolutely great card for limited. Goblin Heelcutter levels of good maybe, or perhaps a slight step below.

Love the Thief for control

June 13, 2015 3:23 p.m.

don't know if anyone has already said this, but serum visions is confirmed to NOT be in origins. We've just gone through a set with scry, a modern masters, AND a set now that scry is evergreen.

Sigh. A duel deck printing should bring it down to about 9 each. This is just getting ridiculous. Perhaps a new multiplayer draft format (like conspiracy. There was a lot of value in conspiracy) with visions.

June 13, 2015 3:51 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #10

Serendipitous_Hummingbird - Yes we've been over it, but aside from Wizards saying so, it wasn't going to be in Origins anyways.

Serum is tied flavorfully to Mirrodin, and none of the 5 planeswalkers are either from Mirrodin or planeswalked first to Mirrodin. So there was 0% chance Serum Visions would've been reprinted.

June 13, 2015 3:56 p.m.

Any chance at a Oppressive Rays reprint?

June 13, 2015 3:58 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #12

IndepenentMeta - I think you might be the only person who cares about that card, but there could be a chance. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

June 13, 2015 4:04 p.m.

I might be actually lol but it's cause it brings some good stuff onto the board.

June 13, 2015 4:39 p.m.

@kengiczar Problem is that when Stoke the Flames rotates out, so does Butcher of the Horde if that is the demon you are speaking of. Next rotation , Khans of Takir(single set) will also rotate out along with Theros block and M15. Fate Reforged, Dragons of Tarkir. Magic Orgins and Battle for Zendikar will be the the only ones in.

June 13, 2015 6:46 p.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #15

@CaptainCaveman:

Fate Reforged rotates with Khans.

Neither rotates out until Spring 2016

June 13, 2015 6:50 p.m.

@Named_Tawyny so nothing rotates out with Zendi release ?

June 13, 2015 7:07 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #17

CaptainCaveman - Theros block and M15 will rotate out when Battle for Zendikar is released. Just bookmark What's in Standard and you'll never forget

June 13, 2015 7:25 p.m.

@JWiley129 thanks, I was under ther impression that KTK also rotated out along with Theros block and M15 when Battle for Zendi released on Oct.2 So kengiczar gets his wish of a Stoke the Flames free environment where his Butcher of the Horde can murder more freely. Grats!

You guys seen this yet?

June 13, 2015 8:42 p.m.

bsian says... #20

6tennis, there was a thread on it earlier, very likely fake because the artist's name is mispelled (misspelled? ironic I'm probably misspelling mispell).

June 13, 2015 8:44 p.m.

6tennis says... #22

Didn't see that. Nice!

Anyhoo, the Chandra walker was confirmed not fake just recently. Red just got a whole lot sweeter.

June 13, 2015 8:49 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #23

6tennis - source for the fact Chandra isn't fake? Just because the art matches up doesn't make the card legit.

June 13, 2015 8:50 p.m.

That land card looks like its gonna break den protector...

June 13, 2015 8:54 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #25

Good thing it's fake IndepenentMeta. Read the other comments before making statements such as that.

June 13, 2015 8:55 p.m.

6tennis says... #26

JWiley129 The card came before the art, to my knowledge.

Making a STAX EDH for the spoiler of chandra coming out

June 13, 2015 10:17 p.m.

Lol why do you guys always suggest on what I should do. I suggest you guys stop doing that. I read all the it's fake comments. It's on the title of the page... Had it been real thou... It would break Den Protector

June 13, 2015 10:37 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #29

You have proven time and time again that you don't know what "broken" cards are. That fake land would not have broken Den Protector because there can only be 1 in play at a time and you are limited to 4 in your deck. Plus in order to "go off" you're paying and a land drop to get a single card back from your yard only to pay again. It's about as useful as the Den Protector loop you can do with one in the graveyard in response to your on field one being killed. It amounts to a 5 man do-nothing. I hope this illustrates why Den Protector isn't broken, but per usual you will probably ignore my comment and assume I'm attacking you and get all fussy.

June 13, 2015 10:44 p.m.

Honestly do you guys really think its only bout you guys point of view or something? Time n time again u have proven that u don't kno what broken really looks like. It's not until your in the predicament I was talking bout that you realize or the thought crosses your mind... "maybe this is too broken" I have friends in real life that say the same things as you guys, I was watching one of my friends play right n he said some interaction between two cards I can't remember wasn't broken then wen he was in the match up he was there mopping around. Saying it was too broken... Did he admit I was right hell no lol none of you guys do that. But just saying his face in shock was good enough for me.

As far as the combo goes yes 5 mana might be a lot of mana but where there is cards in mtg that can allow u to produce that much mana easy. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a good example. Produces mana with three cards have 5 devotion up you can pay your taxes then get something off like a counter spell. After that drop a land pick up Den Protector then recycle and reuse. Deathmist trigger n if there's 2 deathmist on the grave 2x trigger cause their not legendary... Simple stuff like that....

You guys miss a lot of key interactions it's not only about one card you have to factor it's what cards can make the board impossible for my oppoenent to bear...

You guys are getting off track from the forum again...

June 13, 2015 10:58 p.m.

You guys always forget to factor that I've Been playing tcg's competitive for 15 years now. I've gone to reginals and saved myself spots at the top tables due the fact that I know what I'm ding and what I'm talking bout every time I say something. If experience has ever been a key factor for tcg's I believe you are under selling my knowledge to a whole new low.... It's offensive... I was well respected in the game of yugioh before this whole little trend started and sometimes I really do wish I can go back to being taken as one of the best players on this site. Just stop under selling my opinion and listen for a change you might learn something

June 13, 2015 11 p.m.

Runlue I know sorry this happens anytime I try to put my opinion in anything

This is a spoiler thread, not an arguing thread.

And besides, we've seen what a "broken card" argument leads to, and I personally don't want another one, especially in the spoiler thread.

June 13, 2015 11:02 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #35

Agreed. Let's keep this thread focused on spoilers please.

tooTimid says... #36

This seems legit. That would mean 4 walkers down, 1 to go. If so, Jace seems good, Nissa and Chandra seem bad. Especially Nissa... What do you think?

June 13, 2015 11:06 p.m.

Wit the two of you. What do u guys wanna talk bout?

June 13, 2015 11:06 p.m.

tooTimid I want that Jace SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad XD

Nissa sucks though. And are those even for real?

June 13, 2015 11:08 p.m.

tooTimid says... #39

Not sure, they seemed to have been leaked due to their SDCC variants. Nissa seems unplayable, but Jace seems very strong for 2 mana.

June 13, 2015 11:10 p.m.

6tennis says... #40

For 2 mana, I'm loving that Jace. Nissa seems underwhelming, especially while Nissa, Worldwaker is still legal.

June 13, 2015 11:11 p.m.

tooTimid says... #41

I assume they're real because it seems odd for someone to go through all that work to fake an SDCC version, why not just fake a regular card?

June 13, 2015 11:12 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #42

Ooh, new SDCC promos? Cool.

Actually, Nissa doesn't seem too bad. A real late-game or ramp-centric deck maybe, but in the right shell she may be very good. Especially her +1, that looks pretty sweet for a green ability. Card draw, yo.

Jace looks incredibly easy to flip, though relying on his activated ability to flip him leaves him vulnerable. Is his +1 giving a creature -2/-0? I can't quite make it out.

If that Chandra is the actual Chandra, I will be disappointed.

I wonder how Gideon looks.

June 13, 2015 11:13 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #43

Yeah, probably definitely real.

Pic for the SUPER LAZY:enter image description here

Also, anyone got spare SDCC tickets laying around? I need these foils ;)

June 13, 2015 11:14 p.m.

holy shit that jace looks great I want 4

June 13, 2015 11:15 p.m.

let's be real tho. That jace is the definition of a bolt magnet.

June 13, 2015 11:17 p.m.

tooTimid says... #46

Yeah GoldGhost012, Jace's +1 gives a creature -2/-0 until your next turn.

What I think some people aren't noticing is that Chandra only requires an attack and a red spell to flip. It's worded "If Chandra has dealt three or more damage this turn..." so you can attack, cast a spell to untap, then ping for 1 and BAM! Chandra walker.

June 13, 2015 11:17 p.m.

JDMCRIB says... #47

Jace is fantastic. Being cheap, easy to flip, card advantage, and his -3 is Snapcaster Mage effectively are all strong. His +1 is a little weak if I'm reading it correctly (1 creature gets -2/-0 until your next turn), but certainly not bad, and his ultimate is very nice as well.

Just thinking, but does the new Jace have potential in Delver in Modern? Even a Delve list with Tasigur, the Golden Fang and friends?

June 13, 2015 11:18 p.m.

tooTimid says... #48

Also I'd be much more on board with Nissa if she cost more mana and was slightly bulkier. A 3 mana 2/2 that doesn't do anything until turn 7 at earliest? That's not playable.

June 13, 2015 11:19 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #49

Well the real issue is being able to get her for an attack. A 2/2 for with no evasion is really... not good.

June 13, 2015 11:19 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #50

Wait, tooTimid, our photos are from different sources it looks like, so probably real cards.
