So apparently Modern Event Decks are a new product WotC is doing. Personally, I like the idea, but of course not the price tag. Ouch! What're your thoughts on it?
It just wasn't what I was expecting for a product. I was expecting somewhere around $40-$50 considering that most of the time when they say "playable" they mean barely fringe.

There's a thread on this already in the S&R forum, which is where this is getting moved. Check the other thread.

The event decks are usually ok and contain a fair proportion of staple cards that will help your collection at the very least. Do you remember the Golgari one had Thragtusk , Strangleroot Geist , Disciple of Bolas , Dreg Mangler and some others that are actually useful cards to own.

Yeah sorry Epoch, I didn't see it when I posted. I'm really burned out tonight, I really should stop posting.

To respond to the discussion, though, the decks won't sell unless they have at least a few format staples. When you consider some of the Standard event decks had fetches, it doesn't seem unreasonable that these ones might have a fetch or a few shocks, plus the creatures and C/U instants/sorceries.

I mean, there won't be any Tarmogoyf or Dark Confidant in them with an MSRP of $75.
Although my LGS thinks they'll have to sell at retail for $150

I can see twin. The full combo itself is only around $50. Throw in some digging, some Dispel , a splash of expensive non-basics, and you have yourself a nifty little $75.

It'd be interesting if the decks were homebrew-esque. Innovation in the event decks is a good way to push some new ideas into the format and give people something other than a prepackaged winning deck.
Plus, if the decks were good enough, it would be a great way to dodge the expectations people already have of the established decks. If you market a prepackaged Tron deck, for example, people already have specific demands regarding what those decks should contain and what they should do.

I think it is an awesome product. I bet we will see some fetchlands. I will probably pick this up. It even comes with sleeves.

People are saying "decks" like this is going to be a set of event decks. But everything in the description is singular. It sounds like it might just be a single event deck, which doesn't make much sense if they're trying to get more people to play Modern. It wouldn't be much fun to have a bunch of people new to the format playing mirror decks.
I doubt we'll see any fetches. One fetch is practically useless, and if this deck has multiple fetches and has other good cards it'll be selling for $200+ immediately (unless you're lucky enough to get a preorder through your LGS for MSRP).
I'm still hoping that the fetches will be reprinted after M15, as soon as the Shocks rotate out.

There's no way they'll be straight up reprinted so soon after Zendikar. A new fetch-like cycle is possible, but we won't see them reprinted for years.

Last year Mark Rosewater said fetches will be appearing again very soon. I'm assuming it'll be after the shocks have rotated out since they haven't announced another Modern Masters set.
I don't think the age of Zendikar really matters. Zendikar was released almost two years before Modern became a format, so most people who didn't play Legacy just traded them away.

It's not that pricy! Not for a playable modern deck.
