Confirmation here

What do you think will be reprinted, excluding the obvious Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Etched Champion?

I'm speculating that Birthing Pod, Phyrexian Obliterator, Vendilion Clique and Cryptic Command will be seeing reprints, along with Zendikar fetches.

Auras? Curses then! Put them all at uncommon as they arent good but they are fun

Rayenous says... #2

Nope... no Curses.

They are from the Innistrad block, and there won't be any cards from that block.

December 11, 2014 4:22 p.m.

tyforthevenom says... #3

They're also from commander sets

December 11, 2014 4:33 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #4

tyforthevenom - except MM2015 will only include cards from Mirrodin to New Phyrexia, and nothing from supplemental products. So the Commander curses and the Innistrad curses can't be in MM2015 for a variety of reasons.

Duck_of_doom thanks for linking that video. Really really good points there. I hope they listen. At 10$ a pack I don't see why it's a limited run. guess we'll wait and see

Duck_of_doom Thanks for the link.

I think his video is definitely relevant before Modern Masters 2 drops. He's not the most eloquent speaker, and he doesn't have the most organized message, but he does have real concern for the community and for the health of the game.

We should try to send this to MaRo and the other guys on tumblr and twitter, just so that he sees it and that he can start counting the people who want to say the same. I'll be doing this on twitter since I don't have a tumblr account. I'm aware that MaRo probably doesn't have the authority at Wizards to determine the size and MSRP of a product, but he's basically the most important person the community looks to - the community's intermediary to everyone else who makes decisions at Wizards.

On a different (yet related) note... I would like to see Wizards do more reprints of copycat cards.

Type 1:Llanowar Elves has been printed about 18 times, Fyndhorn Elves twice. Armageddon printed 13 times Ravages of War twice...

Type 2: (In my opinion a cooler option)Take something like Prodigal Sorcerer 12 times, Zuran Spellcaster twice, and look at Rootwater Hunter printed once... If Wizards had made Elvish Mystic "Elf-Shaman" instead of "Elf-Druid" think of how many more card reprints could build into whole new deck interactions like a deck built around Elvish Mystic & say maybe Thornbite Staff. Possible decks built around Elvish Mystic "Elf-Wizard" and Sage of Fables ? Fugheddaboudit

December 13, 2014 4:31 a.m.

Oh and BTW Mons's Goblin Raiders is still just "Creature-Goblin" after 8 printings... how big a deal is it if it gets reprinted as "Goblin-Warrior", "Goblin-Soldier" or possibly even "Goblin-Mercenary" (hello Cateran Persuader). "Goblin-Rebel"?, Huh???

December 13, 2014 4:48 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #12

ParadoxProphet I'm pretty sure that Wizards can't change a card unless the rules have been changed since then, or new keywords have been invented. A creature type doesn't sound like it would infringe any rules, so there is no reason to errata it.

December 13, 2014 7:12 a.m.

Llanowar Elves went through most of it's printings as just "Elves", it didn't become "Elf Druid" until it got the Kev Walker artwork. Most of the original Legend cards just have errata naming their creature types, Baron Sengir anyone? Trust me, Wizards have changed plenty of cards creature types in the more recent printings.

Anyone think the will reprint the Titans?

I just need Karn Liberated for my tron deck.

Also does anyone think they will reprint the Urza Lands?

December 28, 2014 10:28 a.m.

JPODS0717 says... #25

I'm hoping to see reprints of some lands.. MM1 didn't do so well on that case. Wishful thinking would be zendikar fetches, mostly because I know they wont reprint those. Shock lands were already printed twice, and they're pretty low as is. The filter lands, however, would be awesome to see reprints of. Each one is 20-30$, and that could easily cut the price in half. If they do reprint zendikar fetches, it would make sense though because they are great for sealed and draft (I know I contradicted myself, I'm very split on what will happen).

Here's what I was referencing, for those who do not know what I was talking about.

FILTER LANDS: Mystic Gate, Sunken Ruins, Graven Cairns, Wooded Bastion, Fire-Lit Thicket, Fetid Heath, Cascade Bluffs, Twilight Mire, Rugged Prairie, and Flooded Grove.

SHOCK LANDS: Hallowed Fountain, Blood Crypt, Temple Garden, Steam Vents, Overgrown Tomb, Breeding Pool, Watery Grave, Stomping Ground, Godless Shrine and Sacred Foundry.

ZENDIKAR FETCH LANDS: Marsh Flats, Scalding Tarn, Verdant Catacombs, Arid Mesa and Misty Rainforest.

@ParadoxProphet I think Mons's Goblin Raiders would be erratad as 'goblin raider'

December 29, 2014 3:13 a.m.

Maybe, maybe not awesomeguy37. Of the 24 cards I can find with the word "Raider" in the name most are "Warriors" (I can't seem to find a creature that is a "Raider"). What I'm trying to say is that recently WotC has been real good about assigning both a race and a class/occupation to it's "intelligent lifeforms". There's still plenty of Horrors, and Beasts that don't need a "Job" (although Barbarian Outcast did get errataed from "Barbarian-Beast" to "Human-Barbarian-Beast" on the Gatherer so I guess he got in touch with his feelings) but a set like Modern Masters just seems like a place where they can update old cards and possibly create interest in some of the forgotten, unappreciated oldies (and if they do, a card like Manta Riders could possibly see play again in Modern where ,seriously, it's not legal)

i wanna see Sundering Titan alongside the 5 coloured titans (then it would actually be a full cycle coz colourless is never represented)

Fleetwood-Mat says... #29

JPODS0717 I think you can expect to see the ZEN fetches reprinted in the 3rd expansion in Kahns block. There is nothing in Standard right now that makes the fetches better than any other non-basics in standard. They will not print it in the 2nd set in the block because this block is supposed to go: big-small-big as far as set sizes go, and there are 5 to print, so they need to print them in a big set. Also, if they do it in the 3rd set in the block, they will be standard for the shortest amount of time possible, as all the fetches will rotate out of standard at the same time. A good example is how they did it with the shock lands. Another reason they will do this is because the original printings of all the fetches were found in 2 different blocks, while the shocks have always been found in the same block. They needed to have the Onslaught ones done first because they needed them to get into modern, but I can bet you the plan from the start was to have every fetch reprinted in the same standard block.

JPODS0717 says... #30

Except that khans of tarkir and dragons of tarkir are rotating months apart from each other, due to the adjusting of the standard format. Although I see your point, because they wont reprint shocklands I think ever again.

January 5, 2015 2:55 p.m.

Fleetwood-Mat says... #31

Just beware of people who are putting all their ZEN fetches for trade. Before Kahns was announced, I was already suspicious of a looming reprinting of fetches, so I held off on getting any fetches at all. Now I'm glad I waited, and I have little doubt that there will be a full reprint of the ZEN fetches.

Even if you want the original printings of the cards, you will be able to get them at a better price after they get reprinted.

January 5, 2015 3:15 p.m.

I second the filterlands hope of a reprint. Also some other single-set cards like Through the Breach and Goryo's Vengeance would help certain modern archtypes gain more popularity.

January 5, 2015 3:16 p.m.

I still think WotC AND Players could benefit from reprinted "Dupes" in a set like this...

For example...

Armageddon goes for about $3-$500 on Ebay based on condition on the low end vs set collectability on the high end. Ravages of War is in the middle (around $100-$300 regardless of set or condition). WotC doesn't see any profit created by its limited availability and players have to pay out the balls to get the rarer cards . By reprinting cards that don't affect the Standard format & the control they have to limit Vintage formats, WotC can increase the demand and sales for "Modern Masters 6.2". Once Ravages of War is reprinted in set "MM6.2" everyone starts buying the bejeezus out of the set to get a copy... It's still a card that is limited to the formats WotC deems it's legal in, but it's doesn't affect the set collectability that pushes card prices up for hardcare collectors.

Baltec says... #34

But neither Armageddon nor Ravages of War are modern legal.

unban all the cards then reprint every card that's not modern legal into modern masters to enable those cards into modern
