Whelp I'm a bit dissapointed. I'll be canceling my preorder unfortunately and just buy the few singles I want.
May 8, 2015 11:24 a.m.
There's still value in the set but damn is it disappointing that at least Serum Visions isn't in it. I'm sticking with my two pre-orders.
May 8, 2015 11:26 a.m.
I'm out. The decider is the lack of value in the commons and uncommons beside a select few.
May 8, 2015 11:32 a.m.
Okay, been a way from MTG from a little time, so.....
The list that guy leaked, is that confirmed fake or true?
And, no Goblin Guide?

I count 28 "cheap" rares on my initial glance, so plus or minus a few. I think that's pretty bad compared to MM1. There are also 10 $20+ rares in the set while MM1 had half that. If you thought MM1 was a lottery ticket...
May 8, 2015 11:33 a.m.
NorthernRaven - He got quite a bit right, but he has a HUGE miss in no Goblin Guide reprint.

Anyone else notice that Daybreak Coronet has no other good auras to put on your creatures? The first spoiler released was just to troll lol.
May 8, 2015 11:42 a.m.
yeah, this could almost crash the price of Daybreak Coronet since all the auras in Limited are removal aside from Coronet and the rare Splinter Twin.
May 8, 2015 11:46 a.m.
There should have been at least Slippery Bogle to go with the Daybreak Coronet.
May 8, 2015 11:46 a.m.
wait, I lied, Goblin War Paint -> Daybreak Coronet is quite a beating.

It's too bad that they didn't reprint Serum Visions. I was looking forward to picking up a set of them....
May 8, 2015 12:41 p.m.
So...all I need from this set are the Thrull tokens. If I hadn't acquired some of the cards beforehand (ex. Bitterblossom, Puppeteer Clique), there would've been more. Oh well, onto Origins!
As a whole, from an EDH perspective, it's not bad. Elesh Norn, Tezzy, Eldrazi, Karn...lots of money. I can see why Modern players are upset though. Oh well, you can't win them all. I'd say Serum Visions is the August promo, and IoK cold be reprinted in Zendikar 2 alongside the enemy fetches. Really, the only loss in the long run would be Goblin Guide. Just my guess.
May 8, 2015 12:43 p.m.
So after a cursory glance at all the cards in MM15, I think that White is the best color and the artifacts are insane. Also, the five color deck seems real and based in red with Dragonsoul Knight, Tribal Flames, Viashino Slaughtermaster, Worldheart Phoenix and artifacts like Wayfarer's Bauble, Sphere of the Suns, Alloy Myr, and Skyreach Manta help fix all the manas.
Color me intrigued.
May 8, 2015 12:44 p.m.
I have a theory:
WOTC isn't stupid. I'm sure they recognize the desire people have to reprint Goblin Guide. Now, this would've been a perfect spot for it and Inquisition of Kozilek...Unless, of course they are to be reprinted in a set further down the line.
Perhaps Origins or BfZ are the current resting home for the inquisition and guide? This wouldn't be the first time this kind of thing happened. After all, they need to save some money/hyped cards for the other new sets coming out.

Yes!!! Inkmoth Nexus mid is now 26.00. Maybe Goblin Guide will follow suit.

Puppeteer Clique??? Where you guys hiding the good stuff?
May 8, 2015 1:07 p.m.
GeminiSpartanX says... #25
Some of the value of my collection will decrease thanks to the Leyline of Sanctity and Wilt-Leaf Liege reprints among others, but I'm glad that Noble Hierarch and Fulminator Mage are seeing a reprint. However, seeing the full spoiler has convinced me not to buy any boxes and just stick with buying singles.
May 8, 2015 1:08 p.m.
IndepenentMeta says... #26
Lol shit if I had the money I'd take 6 boxes of that shit really quick. It's the best modern monster set I've ever seen

Serum Visions are like 5-8 dollars just buy them guys...
May 8, 2015 1:11 p.m.

This months promo is that cool looking path to exile card supposedly from the future
May 8, 2015 1:12 p.m.
IndepenentMeta says... #30
It's a staple man get with the program...
Plus correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there only one print of the card
May 8, 2015 1:13 p.m.
The only thing I'm annoyed by right now is the singles not available for preorder. It's really getting on my nerves.
May 8, 2015 1:16 p.m.
I am correcting you because you are wrong.
Also commons should be printed in such high numbers they should never surpass like $3-$4. $8 for a card that was circulated widely at the time is ridiculous. It's not that it's a staple on its own; it's that its an old and reprint neglected staple.
May 8, 2015 1:16 p.m.
Yeah IndepenentMeta theres is exactly one print of Serum Visions which is the only reason they are as expensive as they are. A COMMON at that price is absurd and that should really be fixed, as of only a year ago they were like 2 dollars and they're not seeing any more play now than they were before.
May 8, 2015 1:17 p.m.
Fifth Dawn, Promo, and unplayable Promo.
The other annoying thing is that it's not that widely played.
May 8, 2015 1:19 p.m.
IndepenentMeta says... #36
Wait who's right here is there only one print or three?
May 8, 2015 1:23 p.m.
My bad ChiefBell, you're right there is the promo. But that is still not nearly enough, its unfortunately the fact that its a card from a time when MTG nearly died. The original Mirrodin block was long enough ago and had such a bad enough backdrop that staple/goodstuffs from it starts getting expensive if its never been printed elsewhere en masse.
May 8, 2015 1:23 p.m.
There's 2 printings I know of:
Fifth Dawn and an Arena Promo. I do not know of a third. So, unless I am proven wrong, everyone was wrong.
May 8, 2015 1:25 p.m.

I bought my supply squads for 5 bucks it's a yuioh card. I bought my glad beast laquari for 6 bucks in rare. Another yugioh card. And I bought my Bloodsoaked Champion at 5 bucks, and my foil Mardu Strike Leader for 5 bucks. I don't see why it's sooo bad to give some players a little bit of extra change..
May 8, 2015 1:26 p.m.
What are you even saying? We are arguing for a reprint so it is cheaper - so that you get extra change.
May 8, 2015 1:27 p.m.
Sure, I KIND OF get what you're saying Meta...? Five dollars for a card in the TCG world is actually not unreasonable in and of itself, but it sure as hell is for a common. I mean we're talking about if something like Anticipates were 7 dollars USD a pop. Thats how stupid it is, because if you were to open a box of Fifth Dawn you would open the same-ish amount of Serum Visions in there as you would Anticipates in DTK.

IndepenentMeta says... #43
I don't mind spending here and there. 2 bucks for a Serum Visions seems like too little.
May 8, 2015 1:33 p.m.
ChiefBell: Fine, I scoop. So, there are 3 prints of Serum Visions out there. My guess is that it will be the August FNM promo. I don't play Modern, but it's just my guess.
May 8, 2015 1:36 p.m.
Its not when a wopping 3 Tier 1 decks play it Meta. Scapeshift, Twin, Storm. And Scapeshift even then is really Tier 1.5, anything else that plays it that I can think of its either totally fringe or just playing Tier 2 or lower. 2 dollars USD seems like a fitting price point in my opinion.
May 8, 2015 1:38 p.m.
IndepenentMeta says... #46
Lol you guys are always over doing stuff. Like omg it's way beyond my reach if I could do it on a slang wage you guys can do it with a regular pay day easy. 20 bucks down get your playset. Until 50 bucks down and you get your single. Kinda budgetish but still spending in a sense
May 8, 2015 1:40 p.m.
IndepenentMeta says... #47
Yeah that's kinda true iLikeDirt if it ain't doing too much for the tier stuff it shouldn't cost 5 bucks. I wouldn't mind picking up my set for 8 dollars anyways. Idk what I'm trying to argue lol
May 8, 2015 1:43 p.m.
You have to evaluate the cost of cards versus their rarity. I don't look at Serum Visions and go 'eh it's ok being $7 because I bought Tarmogoyf for $200'. That's ridiculous. You HAVE to factor in access, print runs, efficacy, and usage. Serum visions is a common - there are a fair number of prints around, it has been printed twice in legal sets, it's not game breaking, and it's not used that widely. It's just not worth the price point when you look at the bigger picture.
May 8, 2015 1:44 p.m.
No one is saying its not affordable Meta. Let me put it this way, sure you could maybe afford to buy that awesome video game you want at $28. But the game is going on 11 years old now, is almost certainly more than just second-hand and the number of consoles that actually can use it are very limited in the broad scope of things. Theres just so much working against it that the price point doesn't make any sense outside of availability, which Wizards could and should fix. It is far from being a broken card, its even kind only slightly okay. The only reason we play it is because they took Ponder away and then they took Preordain too.

I was really hoping for Serum Visions :(
@ Hummingbird (too lazy to spell your name) I've been looking forward to the Remands too. I need to pick up like eight right now, hah.
