I just remembered that Modern Masters 2015 came out around May last year which isn't actually far away. Should we expect a Modern Masters 2016 Edition some time soon?

Actually I heard rumors of a "legacy masters". It came form the same guy that called the Twin and Bloom ban. But, of course, it's just a rumor. If MM16 will be a thing i just hope they reprint 2 things: Blood Moon and Painters Servent.

"Eternal Masters" from reddit, from someone that also said Twin was going to be banned because it beats the cards Wotc was trying to sell.
People blew it off, until it happened. Now everyone is speculative towards Wotc, their intentions, and which 3rd party groups they are working with to control the secondary market.
These leaks are also still persistent, from who I am to calling "Batman" as a vigilante inside Wotc in order to give us the players, the same info that the major stores are getting so they can control events, and plan further ahead than us, and the profit from the market more easily.
I know that it's a really large leap, but after all these incidents, it makes sense. It's not even conspiracy really, it's just good business for Wotc and whoever else is involved to try and increase profits.

Also, there is no reason for Wizards to print an "Eternal Masters" since they no longer support Legacy or Vintage. And if they were to continue supporting these formats, Wizards would have to abolish the reserved list. It's literally impossible for those formats to grow since cards like the ABUR duals are REQUIRED but cannot be reprinted due to them being on the reserved list.

I wouldn't say that ABUR are "REQUIRED" to play the format.

If you want to be competitive at more than kitchen table levels, then hell yeah, they're required. @Baltec

Elves is not as competitive without the cradles and duals. Burn was never competitive. The other decks are still quite expensive.

Thanks for all the interesting discussion, had a feeling it might have been bi-yearly

For elves you'll end up with a 2000$ deck... 4 gaea's cradle plus some of the duals is too expensive. 8-rack works with mono black but is not really competitive

I shall agree with CastleSiege and say that the third Modern Masters set shall not be released until 2017, so it is far too early to speculate about it, at the present time.
The idea of an "eternal masters" would be beyond awesome, for me, so I shall hope that it shall become a reality. Could we start speculating about what cards might be in such a set, or is there no point in doing so, until WotC actually confirms that they shall be making such a set?

@CastleSiege, pleasantly wrong, right? I didn't believe it either.

Yup. So that confirms EVERYTHING. For sure.
Eternal Masters announcement confirms Wotc in bed or making deals with Channel Fireball, SCG, and/or whoever else.

Here is an easy link to the official article.
As expected, they are NOT going to allow the format to be as healthy as it could be by adamantly refusing to reprint the essential cards on the Restricted List.
Jerks!
Even if I had the cards to play high-level Legacy and Vintage, I would have only one other person to play with. The real problem is that we need far more of these cards than even exist. It is not just the high prices but the simple fact that worldwide, the supply is insufficient for most places to develop healthy Vintage and Legacy.
Beyond that, I expect that we will see even more price gouging from the suppliers for another ridiculous limited product. For last year's Modern Masters scam, my shop owner was required to fork over more than M.S.R.P. cash paid in full in advance to get his allocated boxes, gouging which he had to pass on to his shop's customers. Needless to say, it was rubbish to pay the equivalent of over $12 for a pack and then crack open Inexorable Tide.

Well the next step AFTER Eternal Masters is to split Legacy up into two formats.
One will use the reserved list and will not be supported by Wotc (Again), and the other will not use the reserved list and will be supported.
However, it would make more sense to make the split before the arrival Eternal Masters.

Yes, such a split makes perfect sense. Just have Legacy Light with the Reserved List banned in Legacy Light. Then, they could print genuine snow-covered dual lands in this year's Commander product...L.O.L.

Making an essential uncommon utility card like Force of Will a mythic is absolutely asinine.

Quoting Maro:
"We've also decided that there are certain things we specifically do not want to be mythic rares. The largest category is utility cards, what I'll define as cards that fill a universal function. Some examples of this category would be cycles of dual lands and cards like Mutavault or Char."
So I guess I am wrong about Force of Will being a utility card. It seems to me like a utility card, but I guess that I am wrong. Being that they refuse to be liars about never ever reprinting anything from the Reserved List, I have to presume that they would never ever be liars about mythic frequency and utility cards, so I must be wrong.
I guess it just makes perfect sense to make the absolutely essential card for blue to be mythic instead of uncommon in a price-gouging limited product. It is clear to me that those wonders at Wizards really want a huge number of players to be able to play and enjoy Legacy.

Modern Masters is a bi-yearly set, the first of which released in 2013. The next Modern Masters should be released in the summer of 2017.
