Modern Masters 2017 Speculation/Wishlist

The release of Modern Masters 2017 is not very far away from now, so I wish to begin speculation for the cards that shall be in that set.
Given that Dark Confidant and Shadowmage Infiltrator, two cards designed by players who won events, have been reprinted in the previous two Modern Masters sets, many players, myself included, are expecting Snapcaster Mage, another card design by a played who won an event, to be reprinted in this set. I also shall agree with the majority of players in hoping for a reprint of Liliana of the Veil, who has become very expensive. Although players hope for it every time that a new nonstandard set is announced, and it have never yet been reprinted, I shall hope for a reprint of Damnation in this set, because it badly needs it, due to its price.
I myself shall also hope for a reprint of Phyrexian Obliterator, because I believe that that card is currently more expensive than it should be.
A reprint of Chromatic Lantern would be nice, despite it having recently been reprinted, because its recent reprint did lower its price, but only for a short duration, and the card then increased in price again. On that subject, it also would be nice to have a reprint of Gilded Lotus for the same reason.
There are many lands that I would like to see reprinted in this set, most notably the filter lands from Shadowmoor and Eventide, because they have become very expensive, but WotC seems to dislike reprinting good dual lands in anything other than standard-legal sets. In a similar idea, the shocklands and the fetchlands could use another reprint to keep their prices lower, although those are equally-unlikely. The lands that are most likely to be reprinted (among the lands that I consider to be "good" dual lands) are the Innistrad "check lands" (Clifftop Retreat, Isolated Chapel, and so forth), because they have never been reprinted (outside of the chapel in the Modern Event Deck), and, thus, are more expensive than they should be. However I fear that WotC will instead reprint the painlands again, or even reprint the "lifelands" from the Tarkir block, since the past several masters sets were not very impressive in terms of lands.
There are many more cards that I would like to see reprinted, and I shall mention them in future posts, so that I do not write one insanely long post.
What does everyone else here say on this subject? What cards would you like to see reprinted in this set?
If the Zendikar fetch lands don't get reprinted, I'm pretty sure a lot of people are going to be pretty pissed off. I think some of the notable reprints will be: Snapcaster Mage (Mythic), Liliana of the Veil (Mythic), Engineered Explosives, Linvala, Keeper of Silence (Mythic), Voice of Resurgence, Noble Heirarch, Abrupt Decay, Goblin Guide, The zen fetches and maybe Cavern of Souls.

I'd be pretty surprised (and crazy excited) if they reprinted LotV, Damnation AND Obliterator in the same set but hey, we can hope!
Everyone needs more fetches and I think Goblin Guide, Tar Pit and Colonnade are good shouts too.
January 27, 2017 6:08 p.m.
Fetches would probably be done in a block set, it would still be a bit of a barrier for those who can't MSRP the packs/boxes of MM

There is no way we will see KTK life lands. Unlike EMA, the Modern Masters series has restrictions on when sets cards can be reprinted from, and it is currently up to Dragon's Maze.

I'm hoping for Through the Breach and Primetime, as well as Emrakul.

mymanpotsandpans don't remind me....I got a foil comet storm in my mm2 box. :'(
I wouldn't be unhappy to see spellskite printed again also.
January 28, 2017 12:14 p.m.
I would like to see Noble Hierarch, and Cavern of Souls mainly.

Obvious reprints of both Gitaxian Probe and Golgari Grave-Troll as they've become so popular in modern recently... oh wait.
I would love to see Damnation reprinted, and Steam Vents would be great (not getting hopes up on Scalding Tarn.
I think if they were to reprint Gilded Lotus/Chromatic Lantern, it would have been in Eternal Masters. They're more commander cards than modern cards.
Definitely need a Cavern of Souls reprint.

00xtremeninja, I agree with that, because that card has become ridiculously expensive, recently.
Atony1400, if this set shall include cards from sets as recent as Dragon's Maze, I would like to see a reprint of Ral Zarek; I know that he is not terribly expensive, currently, but he is still an awesome card, and I believe that he deserves a reprint.
On that subject, another reprint of Elspeth, Knight-Errant would be nice, because she is still expensive, despite her numerous printings.
February 8, 2017 8:24 p.m.
I wouldn't like to see Ral Zarek, partially because it is one of the only cards that is holding the sets value above worthless. lol

I would like to see both Reliquary Tower and Reflecting Pool reprinted, again, since I believe that both of them are more expensive than they should be. Two obscure lands that I also believe deserve reprints are Miren, the Moaning Well and Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, because they both have very useful abilities.

I remember when reflecting pool fell to like 4 bucks when it got reprinted in conspiracy. Funny to see it is crawling back up again

00xtremeninja, that is not the first time that a card's value has decreased after a reprint, and then increased again, with another prominent example being Chromatic Lantern, which I mentioned above. What causes that to happen? Extreme demand for the card?

Oh I know pool has been up and down in it's life time. I still remember my good friend traded two pools to a kid at our LGS (during Shadowmoor standard) for a Tropical Island. Kid was actually the one who said, I will give you a Trop Island for those two Reflecting Pools. sheesh.
I think with lantern, maybe more people are realizing how awesome it is. I know it is played in Modern, but EDH is where it is an all star. A mana rock that also makes your lands tap for any color? What's not to love about it? I am happy I bought a RTR playset years ago when they were $2 a piece.
February 12, 2017 11:03 p.m.
Also because of the fact that it was only reprinted in 1/5 of the new commander 2016 decks I think might be a partial reason.

I think that Vengevine will see a reprint. Wizards might downshift it to rare.
February 13, 2017 8:47 p.m.
I actually want one of those, but I never bought it as I find it slightly costly.

Delta-117, in which deck was it printed, and why does only one deck have it? Given that those are four-colored decks, all of them very much need that card.
mymanpotsandpans, to me, Vengevine never felt like it should have been a mythic rare; it should have been a regular rare, so I would be perfectly content with it being reprinted as such.
When do previews for this set officially begin? It release is not terribly far away (only a month, approximately).

If we don't get Liliana, I think people are going to be angry. Her price is getting out of control; if she gets passed on then expect her price to be launched into orbit.
Damnation is another one that has been passed over a few times too many.
I think that we'll get a reprint of Archangel of Thune. She's a good value pick that would be a load of fun to draft. She's sitting in the $20+ range, and she'd be a solid choice. I don't think we'll see Avacyn. I just don't see them printing her again.
February 14, 2017 6:52 a.m.
I hope Archangel of Thune gets a reprint for sure as I was wanting to get one in Edh for Atraxa, Praetors' Voice.
But yeah when do spoilers begin anyways is it 1-2 weeks or so?

DemonDragonJ Vengevine sits in an awkward place in terms of power level inside of a draft. It provides a fast decently efficient clock that most more specialized rares in the set reasonably could not compete with. Also unlike most creatures with a form of self reanimation it can block, such as its like brother Bloodghast. Considering that MM3 SHOULD (Don't bitch out on us wizards) have better than average removal like PATH TO EXILE the relative power wont be as great compared to an average standard set to draft. Maybe wizards will incorporate dredge/self-mill as mechanics in this set and Vengevine will be a draft all-star. But yeah out side of draft in other formats Vengevine is a utility enabler with cards like Fauna Shaman and Survival of the Fittest, and nobody likes utility cards at mythic.

I wouldn't mind a Griselbrand reprint. Not sure about the chances of that happening though, considering the demand of other cards.

I still am displeased that the MSRP of a single booster pack of this set shall be $10, again, as was the case with Modern Masters 2015. I know that the Masters sets contain a greater number of valuable cards than do most sets, but that is still a ridiculous price, considering that the chances of opening a card that is worth more than the price of the booster pack is very minuscule.
Since I am discussing that subject, the purpose of the Modern Masters sets is to make the modern format more affordable for new players (and, by extension, Eternal Masters is supposed to make eternal formats more affordable to new players), so I am wondering: how well have they accomplished that goal? Have the Masters sets made the formats more affordable?

I would definitely like to see a reprint of Countersquall in this set, because that card is more expensive than a counterspell should be, in my mind, and a reprint of Voidslime would be nice, as well, but I imagine that that is unlikely, given that Disallow was recently printed in Aether Revolt.

To answer your question, DemonDragonJ, I think some cards have been lowered in price (some significant, others not so much) while others have remained about the same. Cards such as Noble Hierarch and Mox Opal don't seem to have changed in price much whereas cards like Burgeoning(I know this is EMA :P), Remand, Serum Visions, and maybe even Tarmogoyf who I believe was sitting around $200 when it got a reprint.
That said, it has made (un)surprisingly little impact that I can see to card prices other than driving fringe cards to dirt cheap.
Anwayyyyy back on topic. As others have said, I would love to see the Zendikar man-lands reprinted and of course LOTV. Not snaps though because I already have my playset >:D jk. Maybe Stony Silence and Restoration Angel so we can have some decent filler rares and not just piles of garbage?

DemonDragonJ Whether we like it or not this is a specialty set that that gives stores a chance to make a good profit. I don't think we should be too upset with the price per pack with mm2015 but more so with the card selection. The first modern masters certainly could justify a 10 dollar price tag. I hope wizards learned from mm15 and will bring back a better card choice selection this time around.
Just go to TCG player right now Cataclysm Games has 116 boxes for preorder at 186 per box. 7.75 a pack considering the cost of previous ones right now, jump on it.
Also just imagine modern right now if we didn't have any modern master sets and where prices may be now. Not even for the chase mythics but staples in general.
February 17, 2017 2:59 p.m.
How about Glimpse the Unthinkable way to expensive right now
February 19, 2017 10:10 p.m.
Oh wow I thought this would have been posted already
So it looks like we have the new art for Snapcaster Mage as well as Domri Rade and Griselbrand. There also appears to be an angel but I can't think of what it could be off the top of my head.
Thoughts?

Stoic Angel . Domri Rade And Stoic Angel are garbage reprints, i'm super off of mm3 already.

Time Warp very much needs a reprint, because it is now worth $20, and I wish to have a copy for every EDH deck of mine that contains the color blue.
Is it possible to merge this thread with the "Modern Masters 2017 spoilers" thread? There is no need to have two separate threads for discussing this set.

I'm pretty sure that Snapcaster and Liliana will be reprinted, if not it'll be a huge surprise. Damnation would be great.
I don't think there will be any reprints of lands if they're using them for draft mana fixing. They'd have to be uncommon/common. Painlands would be nice at uncommon, but they probably wouldn't do that. I'd like it if they kept the EV high with cards that can't easily reprint, like lands.
Actually, we might get the Zendikar block manlands which would be great. They're sorely in need of a reprint and they wouldn't need the full cycle, would be an excuse to draft those colors and are exciting to open (well, for two of them)
Personal wishlist would be Thalia 1.0 (so I can collect more), Blood Moon, Karn Liberated (again), Celestial Colonnade, Creeping Tar Pit, Geist of Saint Traft (I know they're cheap!) and Ancestral Visions.
