WotC has gone to town with the new way Red draws cards. I present Act on Impulse

At worst it's a draw 0, but at best it's a Draw 3. How about that?

Except you have to play those 3 cards that turn instead of having them in hand....not really a good card.

Best flavor text of the set lol

I would absolutely prefer this to cost 2 and exile 2 cards. Would be much more in tune with the general red gameplan.

That art is amazing

I think this could work in a rdw. I think the cost of three is fair to essentially choose one your top 3 cards in your library to cast.

Like the flavor, like the art, but like NobodyPicksBulbasaur said, i'd much rather pay 2 for 2. Imagine hitting something like one land, a Lightning Strike , and a Chandra's Phoenix . I'd need 8 mana to cast all of that. That's rough.

This is actually not a bad card for RDW, Boss Sligh or even Red variant burn decks. It's a 3-drop which isn't bad but it isn't great. Low curve red decks could have a field day with this.

I just love that this mechanic exists.

My question is whether this card could make it into Modern U/R Storm. In that deck it's basically a Draw 3 for 3, which Storm could definitely use. I just don't know what it could replace.

I love this new slice of the pie. We'll get a broken version at some point.

The broken version so far is either Chandra, Pyromaster or Prophetic Flamespeaker .

Just found a replacement for Desperate Ravings in my storm deck.

I'll chip in by agreeing that I too like how WotC is making Red more diverse in terms of mechanics. And I'd say this card is solid. Don't look at it as attempting to cast (or draw) three cards. Look at it as digging deep to find what you need (which red doesn't do. Ever, really, aside from Magma Jet )

I agree with the comment above, this card feels like it's meant to let RDW dig for a key answer/threat. Best played on turn 4 or later before your land drop. Also priced fairly for it's power level at uncommon, would be great if it cost RR and was a rare though.

Unforgivn_II and Kingzerker are you limiting that to standard?

Pretty much. EDH has a ton of expensive cards, so you could always whiff. I'm not experienced enough with Legacy or Modern to think of new decks, but someone above mentioned Modern Storm, which I think seems like a possible application
