Angelic Field Marshal and Feldon of the Third Path
I like the new mechanic.

Really cool recursion in red!! Something of which we Jaya Ballard, Task Mage players were sorely needful.

I like the new mechanic, maybe it's finally time for tucking to not get rid of commanders? Cause tucking is too inexpensive on cards honestly. And taking control/morphing down/Humility effects are plenty for stupid commanders.
As for the new red guy, mono red reanimation/blink sounds awesome.
October 24, 2014 2:02 p.m.
Blinking wouldn't do anything since Feldon creates tokens, but on the flip side, you can keep on reanimating the same creature over and over again. As pointed out in the threads, Bearer of the Heavens looks really sweet in this position
October 24, 2014 2:05 p.m.
I'm digging Feldon a lot, the Angelic Field Marshal is definitely interesting as well, but seeing Commanders is always more fun.
October 24, 2014 2:09 p.m.
Angel looks really good. Very strong.
Red card looks a bit weird but probably really, really strong in practice.
October 24, 2014 2:10 p.m.
If you can clone the copy, that copy will be permanent. But I don't think red has any of those types of cards besides the ones that also say to sac/exile it end of turn

The flavor on Feldon hits you right in the feels.
Cool stuff.
October 24, 2014 2:20 p.m.
ChiefBell, 3 mana for a hasty Wurmcoil Engine that grants 2 tokens when it leaves every turn is pretty badass.
Not to mention any of the big boys like Scuttling Doom Engine , Arcbound Overseer , Blightsteel Colossus , Darksteel Colossus , Duplicant , Kuldotha Forgemaster , Platinum Emperion (instant speed life prevention for 3? hahah), Soul of New Phyrexia (8 mana instant indestructible is costly, but not impossible in mono-red edh), Steel Hellkite , Stuffy Doll (instant block for the win)
Idk man, this definitely has potential(: Plus red has a LOT of hate cards for edh.

Remember that it makes artifact creatures, but the ability to make the token doesn't require that the creature in the graveyard be an artifact.
October 24, 2014 2:23 p.m.
Worldgorger Dragon in with Feldon after the blockers have been declared, save everything of yours (or even a board wipe).
And there are several that allow you dole out damage.
October 24, 2014 2:26 p.m.
I can get behind Feldon. Mono-Red reanimator sounds PRETTY cool. Plus he allows for Goblin Welder shenanigans, which I think everyone can get behind.
The angel is pretty powerful too, especially at 4 mana. Imagine T3 Angelic Field Marshal, T4 Iroas, God of Victory , T5 ???? T6 Profit?

To me the red legend reads: "yes, we are aware sucks in commander, here's a dude that can make big red a thing in commander of you build around it."
Pretty awesome interactions with Faithless Looting and Sneak Attack .
October 24, 2014 3:06 p.m.
By the way, so far 3 of the 5 Legendary creatures in C14 use tokens in some way. Stitcher Geralf makes X/X blue zombies, Ghoulcaller Gisa makes X 2/2 black zombies, and Feldon makes token Phyrexian Metamorph s. I wonder if the and Legendaries will make use of tokens as well....

JWiley129 I was actually discussing that with a friend. I wonder if Luminarch Ascension with legs would be acceptable.
Jesus
2WW
Human monk
2W, T: put a 4/4 angel with flying into the battlefield.
2/4

I really like the suggestion of Worldgorger Dragon lol
so much fun to be had
October 24, 2014 3:27 p.m.
btw, I can't stop brewing with Feldon already. Goblin Welder is obvious, but what about Purphoros, God of the Forge ? Sundial of the Infinite ? Mesmeric Orb to fill your yard? The possibilities are ENDLESS!

Hmm...maybe somebody has already said this, but...Feldon and the Shattergang Brothers are totally drinking buddies.
October 24, 2014 3:29 p.m.
JakeHarlow - "I use Feldon to clone Archetype of Aggression , and then sac it to Shattergang Brothers for X." Seems decent. I was also thinking of other Red based reanimator decks like Sedris, the Traitor King or to bring back your commander for cheap like Thraximundar .
October 24, 2014 3:32 p.m.
Ohthenoises: The Jesus character has to have a casting cost (5WW) and a P/T of 7/7. I know, high CMC, but it has to fit the flavor. Just saying.
But I am really digging the Feldon legend. That has soooooooo (yes it needed that many "o's" many uses for me as a casual Commander player. I love me some artifacts, and some artifact creatures, so he hits me right in the face. This guy is gonna rock. Add him to my Purphoros, God of the Forge and Krenko, Mob Boss EDH deck, and people and really gonna hate me.
October 24, 2014 3:34 p.m.
Woot.... Next deck is going to be a mono-red commander deck! :D
October 24, 2014 3:38 p.m.
Avacyn, Angel of Hope +Bearer of the Heavens +Feldon of the Third Path.... i like it
October 24, 2014 3:51 p.m.
Might Feldon be good in 1v1 Commander? He seems easily broken.
October 24, 2014 3:54 p.m.
Goody - I don't play French rules very often, but he is missing the key piece to be infinitely abusable, and that is Entomb . I can't think of a better way to put a big beefer into your 'yard than that. Either way though, I could see him just doing disgusting things in 1v1. Especially if you somehow manage to get Emrakul, the Aeons Torn into your 'yard and make a token copy. That's what I like to call VALUE.

JWiley129 Gamble and Faithless Looting could do a good job of that setup. Also, Wheel of Fate /Wheel of Fortune /Reforge the Soul could do well.
October 24, 2014 4:13 p.m.
just read the lore on Feldon. man, pulls at your heart strings and makes his card so much more flavorful

CastleSiege says... #32
Unless I'm missing something completely, Feldon doesn't seem to synergize well with his cane (Feldon's Cane ) since you want your creatures in your graveyard. If we're getting the owner of one artifact as a creature, maybe we'll get another. I wouldn't mind seeing Tormod in the black deck and finally finding out who he is.

Something tells me that it would be more likely that Yawgmoth would get a spot in B.
October 24, 2014 4:30 p.m.
Ohthenoises - Except Yawgmoth wasn't a planeswalker and the deck already has Ghoulcaller Gisa .
October 24, 2014 4:32 p.m.
CastleSiege says... #35
You seem to be implying that each deck will only have one legendary creature. Each of the Commander 2013 decks had multiple legendary creatures in them so I don't see why Commander 2014 would be any different.

I absolutely love the new mechanic it has so much potential and the new commander looks great. I can't wait to see the rest spoilers. :3
October 24, 2014 4:37 p.m.
CastleSiege - At the ComicCon panel, it was said that each deck would have 1 planeswalker you can use as a commander and 1 legendary from Magic's past. This implies that there is only 1 new legend in each deck. I'm not discounting an old mono-colored legend from appearing in each deck, but I am saying that Yawgmoth won't be in the deck. It might be the same with Urza as Yawgmoth, they were too strong in the lore to ever be printable as cards.
October 24, 2014 4:39 p.m.
CastleSiege says... #38
Also JWiley129, no one suggested anything about planeswalkers. We're stating that it's possible for Tormod or Yawgmoth to appear as legendary creatures in the black deck. Though, Tormod has practically no lore whatsoever and is merely wishful thinking on my part.
October 24, 2014 4:40 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #39
There will be 3 total for each deck if previous releases are any indication. In this case 1 walker and 2 legends.
IIRC they never mentioned if Yawgmoth was or was not a planeswalker. He had near godlike powers and he was nigh immortal. Dunno!

Could you link me to a source with the statement about legendary creature's from Magic's past? I wasn't aware of that.
October 24, 2014 4:41 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #41
JWiley129 I never saw that comicon panel. If that's true that's fine but I guess we're going to find out.
October 24, 2014 4:42 p.m.
CastleSiege says... #42
If it is true, having one legendary creature from Magic's past doesn't mean that we won't get entirely new legendary creatures.
October 24, 2014 4:43 p.m.
CastleSiege & Ohthenoises - If we look at C13 we saw 2 new shard legendaries and a reprint of a favorite legend from that shard. E.g. Oloro, Ageless Ascetic , Sydri, Galvanic Genius , & Sharuum the Hegemon . I see no reason for this pattern to end. 3 possible commanders allows for each deck to have some level of replayability, with the Planesewalker as the face of each deck.
And you can look here for a collection of the info from C14. You can also go listen to the Comic-Con panel and fast forward to the part concerning C14.

Taken from the article "A Love Letter for Vorthos"
Once we knew we'd be avoiding characters who are already busy elsewhere in the Magic storyline, Ethan and I saw an opportunity to play into the set's theme of nostalgia and create Planeswalker cards for characters who have never had them before. The creative team loved the idea. We settled in on five Planeswalker characters that played well with the deck themes design had already handed off. Three are characters you'll recognize from Magic's past, one is a character you know but maybe not by name, and one is a brand-new character but from a plane you've seen before.
That last bit I put in italics is exciting :D

'm wondering if it's the unnamed walker that helped Ugin and Sorin put the eldrazi away.

I was actually thinking it might be the Lithomancer as well. But then I thought that it seems like we're getting closer and closer to a "Return to Zendikar" block and that the Lithomancer may turn up around that time.

The angel that grants vigilance is yet another potential nod to Serra as the white Plansewalker.
