Do you guys think we get more man-lands or battle lands in the next set?

JWiley129 says... #2

it's confirmed we're getting the rest of the enemy man-lands. I doubt we'll get new battle-lands.

October 29, 2015 10:55 p.m.

man lands yes. We'll get the , , and manlands.

I'd be astounded if we see more tango lands. The mana fixing in standard is already obscene. We're seeing 4-5c decks winning tournaments. The last time we saw mana fixing this good all ten shocks and all ten checks were legal together, and that only managed to created 3c decks.

October 29, 2015 10:57 p.m.

If I had to wager a guess as to what the new manlands will do, I'd say the land will likely be a 3/1 for that loots when it deals damage to a player, the will probably be a 3/4 deathtouch for , and the will be a 2/2 double strike for

EmblemMan says... #5

I think we will get battle lands we wont have fetches and honestly the battle lands suck without fetches and if you disagree thats just incorrect mana will be so much worse and everything will revert to the 2 color decks that are supported with FRF and DTK

cdbowlin says... #6

those would be great man-lands. I hate battle lands honestly lol

golffore297 says... #7

There's a very sketchy photo of the manland running around that has it as a 4/2 with first strike that activates for

@EmblemMan: don't the KTK fetches count?

October 29, 2015 11:20 p.m.

EmblemMan says... #9

K34 if im not mistaken when oath comes out ktk rotates

October 29, 2015 11:25 p.m.

golffore297 says... #10

Khans will rotate once the first set of the next block is released. Standard will then be DTK, Origins, BFZ, Oath, and that set.

October 29, 2015 11:26 p.m.

jchudz says... #11

I still don't get how people are still getting confused about rotation... maybe people will stop being confused when the spring rotation comes around.

You're all welcome. Just bookmark it for pete's sake.

October 29, 2015 11:43 p.m.

EmblemMan says... #13

well then im wrong i apologize and the reason its confusing is because theres still a 3 set block in standard so I thought that one set would rotate by itself

We know we finish the manland cycle in oath, I hope/expect that we won't get more battlelands yet (the colors in standard would be way, way too good), and I don't think adding another cycle of rare dual lands is necessary for standard right now. I could see a cycle of rare mono-color lands similar to but not exactly Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Emeria, The Sky Ruin

October 30, 2015 3:01 a.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #15

I'm expecting us to finish the Tango land cycle and the manland half-cycle. I suspect that that's all the rare land we'll see. Mana fixing will be amazing in standard for 2 months or so, and then when the new block comes in, things will settle back down.

The bigger question for me, in terms of lands, is what the five other non-obvious Expeditions will be. Really hoping for the Future-sight five, but that's probably just dreams.

Boros manland

There is already a spoiler for the Boros land.

October 30, 2015 4:36 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #17

Named_Tawyny That actually sounds really realistc. as soon as the fetches rotate, the manabase will be "okay", but not "awesome".

For lands I hope for the future sight as well. I still need a horizon canopy.

October 30, 2015 4:36 a.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #18

It'll actually be really interesting to see what happens with the Oath Expeditions. Will the market remember what happened with the Battle Expeditions, and thus start at more realistic prices, or will they be vastly overpriced at release?

Actually, speaking of Horizon Canopy I can't believe how lucky I got. I traded for one at GP Toronto in a dump of my standard cards, and it's since shot up in price massively. =)

EpicFreddi says... #19

Named_Tawyny I know what you mean with the canopy. I bought my Grove of the Burnwillows for 10$ each. :D

People are saying that 4-5 color will be winning tournaments if we get more battle lands. Has nobody been watching coverage? Standard is covered in "Dark Jeskai" and 4-5 color Bring to Light and 4-color rally.

Sure the battle lands will help but you can't run a mana base of all battle lands as the good thing about them is the ability to enter untapped. you can't just go 12 fetches, 14 battle lands go regardless of how good they are.

October 30, 2015 10:29 a.m.

I think they will be forced to release the next cycle of battlelands. Its too late to pull them from THE NEXT SET, even if it will improve the fixing even more. We'll obviously see the rest of the manlands.I'm wondering about the expeditions. We know we will see the 5 battle lands, but what else? Possible options:

  • Filter lands (not likely)

  • Future Sight cycle (Horizon Canopy, ect)

  • Manlands

Another possibility could be original duels! It would be really cool if they abolished the reserved list and gave us Volcanic Island and stuff. It would be really cool for hyping Oath of the Gatewatch.

October 30, 2015 10:44 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #22

greenkingwashere it would rain blood if they were to reprint original duals (or any cards from the reserved list) IN FOIL.That'd be easily a 1000$ card.

October 30, 2015 10:48 a.m.

Rayenous says... #23

I'm hoping for (but doubt) for the Expeditions to be:
5x Remaining Tango Lands
10x Filter Land Cycle
Urza's Mine
Urza's Power Plant
Urza's Tower
Inkmoth Nexus
Blinkmoth Nexus

A guy can dream, can't he?

CuteSnail says... #24

We'll get guildgates and painlands.

October 30, 2015 11:10 a.m. Edited.

Boza says... #25

Guys, I heard from a reliable source what the expeditions will be. It is a card you have been clamoring to get reprinted and we have not seen for the past few standard sets (at least):

OGW expeditions will be 20 Evolving Wilds, all foil with different art.

October 30, 2015 11:17 a.m.

kameenook says... #26

I would love expedition Evolving Wilds, hopefully some love for Terramorphic Expanse too though.

October 30, 2015 12:46 p.m.

Indignation Cliff is definitely a fake. Just look at the name. It doesn't make sense. Two nouns makes no sense. "Indignant Cliff" would work, but not "indignation"

DemonDragonJ says... #28

We know for a fact that there shall be "man-lands" for the remaining enemy-colored combinations, but I shall again say that it is very likely that there shall be five enemy-colored "battle lands," since WotC (usually) prints dual lands in ten-card cycles, and all the best dual lands have been in ten-card cycles. If the shocklands, the filter lands, and the "checklands" all have ten-card cycles, I am certain that there shall be ten cards in the battle land cycle, as well.

October 30, 2015 8:05 p.m.

DemonDragonJ we've seen a second printing of the enemy pain lands without any allied ones. No way in hell will they print the enemy fetches while the allied ones are in play. The shocklands were necessary because of the 10 guild nature of ravnica.

October 30, 2015 9:16 p.m.

off topic why do people whine so damn much about the battlelands. They're perfectly servicable lands. Better than servicable given that despite their kind of steep stipulation for entering untapped they are dual-type lands.

It's like it's some kind of MtG uncanny valley where the closer one gets to an all-star format staple the more vehemently people whine about it.

Back on topic, Serendipitous_Hummingbird Dragonskull Summit,

also the name may be a placeholder or misrembered, this looks like it could be a mockup.

October 31, 2015 12:07 p.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #31

I think that people who whine about the tango-lands just haven't played with them, BlastercoolWeird. They do exactly what they're supposed to do - they're fetchable duals that have the ability to enter untapped.

I think it mostly just comes down to people comparing things to other things, and people wanting cards that do everything, instead of just most things.

Boza, that Indignation Cliff is totes fake. Copyright 2015 was for FRF, DTK, ORI, and BFZ, not for a card that isn't coming out until 2016...

November 3, 2015 12:40 a.m.

This was a complaint also leveled against a very early spoiler of Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip for having wrong copyright info.

That spoiler turned out to be fully accurate, and I suspect that this is probably a mockup of the card, mechanically there's nothing to indicate if this card is fake.

clayperce says... #34

BlastercoolWeird, that's really interesting. I never thought about the "Well sure it's a Photoshop card ... but it's a WOTC Photoshop card!" option.

Boza, I may owe you a beverage or something come January!
