Sorin

Seems interesting. I like the first ability. I've only seen this through MagicSpoiler so I don't know if it is authentic yet.

Clearer image.

That's a pretty powerful Sorin. Much better than Sorin Markov and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad in my opinion.

Considering that Sorin worked with Ugin (Eye of Ugin , Ghostfire ) I guess it shouldn't have been that surprising for him to pop up.

Can someone post his abilities? I'm at work, and can't view the images above :-(

Sorin, Solemn Visitor 2WB

Planeswalker -- Sorin

+1: Until your next turn, creatures you control get +1/+0 and gain lifelink.

-2: Put a 2/2 black Vampire creature token with flying onto the battlefield.

-6: You get an emblem with "At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, that player sacrifices a creature."

Loyalty:4

Hope that helps.

ninja'ed :/

August 31, 2014 5:29 p.m.

Man, Sorin is the coolest. You know the story is getting good when he shows up.

darthfrog says... #11

Thanks guys.

Seems nice. His token is really nice, especially for a 4 cmc walker.

Also there's Bitter Revelation and Ugin's Nexus

Spootyone says... #13

Nice. I could see him as sideboard tech in mardu for the mirror match. Drop him and swing and you're almost guaranteed the win at that point

JWiley129 says... #14

My Mardu Rush deck is looking better and better :D

ChiefBell says... #15

The artwork is beautiful. He's well designed. Easily playable in constructed. Am very happy. Bit weaker than sorin loi in my opinion because he can't just produce token chump blockers every turn as a + ability. Regardless I love him.

August 31, 2014 5:47 p.m.

TheRedDude says... #16

note that he says until your next turn not until eot, so blockers have lifelink too.

August 31, 2014 5:50 p.m.

Spootyone says... #17

Am I the only one who missed his+1 is until YOUR next turn? Not EoT. Next turn. That's a big difference.

August 31, 2014 5:51 p.m.

Spootyone says... #18

ninja'd...

August 31, 2014 5:53 p.m.

Just to hypothesize: what if sorin isn't showing up? What if he did something on Tarkir, and the time travel element throws sarkhan back to that event?

August 31, 2014 7:25 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #20

Time travel doesn't come into play until the second block.

August 31, 2014 7:26 p.m.

Doesn't mean he can't be in the first block. It's time travel, after all.

August 31, 2014 7:27 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #22

Fucking time travel always screwing everything up.

I'm currently masturbating to Teysa to try (unsuccessfully) quell my orzhov-boner.

GoldGhost012 says... #24

Jesus, everyone seems to be masturbating lately.

JWiley129 says... #25

GoldGhost012 - Well between Onslaught fetches, Sarkhan & Sorin, and all the Wedgy goodness, what did you expect?

August 31, 2014 8:31 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #26

Honestly, I have no idea. Parades in the streets, raves, parties.

Dalektable says... #27

Sorin is my favorite planeswalker, his lore is just so interesting. Definitely approve of this guy.

ive predicted this moment, right now a storm is in my area, and any minute the mtg gods should revel in glory, bestowing OP fertility upon the land

Jay says... #29

MTG players don't party. They masturbate.

August 31, 2014 8:39 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #30

That's right, because all of their lust goes towards cards and their art instead of actual people. Especially vampires. How could I forget.

August 31, 2014 8:41 p.m.

vampirelazarus If he's in the first set and clearly still /doing things/ on the plane how does it matter at all if the events he is carrying out are in the past?

Which it very likely isn't because the worldbuilding panel they outright stated Sorin was also on the plane same time as Sarkhah, looking Ugin, he's upset because he realizes Ugin is dead and thus the multiverse's best hope of stopping the Eldrazi is dead with him. If he was "in the past" it wouldn't add anything to the story because he's still there when the dragons are extinct and Ugin in dead, it's all just pointlessly confusing

August 31, 2014 8:52 p.m.

talking about the actual card, pretty good, he's not a badass finisher like new Sarkhan is (seriously, every ability that guy has is something I want to do turn 5 and later in my mono-red aggro deck) but new Sorin's definitely a real threat in an orzhov weenie strategy or even maybe an Abzan-based defensive deck.

Like, he doesn't /win/ the game like Sarkhan does but he makes it REAL HARD for you to lose the game tho.

August 31, 2014 8:56 p.m.

Yeah, but it's time travel, so....

August 31, 2014 9:26 p.m.

Hickorysbane says... #34

GoldGhost012 you're assuming that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.

August 31, 2014 9:47 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #35

Venser's dead, stop quoting Doctor Who.

August 31, 2014 9:49 p.m.

vampirelazarus yeah I get it's time travel but why does it matter that Sorin isn't in present Tarkir,

and actually, why would they even do that? "Hey this guy is here, except not actually, everything he's shown to be doing is in the past so it doesn't directly affect current events at all! Why did we include this character again?"

August 31, 2014 9:57 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #37

Because Sorin + Ugin = Zendikar = Eldrazi.

"MTG players don't party. They masturbate."

Oh contrare, mon ami.

August 31, 2014 10 p.m.

I'm quitting this game until they bring back dinosaurs, skeletons, or skeleton dinosaurs

August 31, 2014 10:03 p.m.

Have fun!

Also, maybe he time travels back in time to find Ugin in the back-in-time era to bring him to the future to fight the eldrazi.

About time for a new sorin! Very similar to Loi but I like his last ability a lot. First 2 abilities basically switched between the walkers.

September 1, 2014 1:22 a.m.

Man WB aggro might just be awesome next standard season.
