There's already a thread about one mechanic, Inspiration, but we have the 5 intro pack/prerelease rares to reveal!
Names probably aren't final:
Silent Sentinel - 4WW
Creature - Archon
Flying
Whenever ~ attacks, return target enchantment from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4/6
Mediator of the Ideal - 4UU
Creature - Sphinx
Flying
Inspiration Whenever ~ becomes untapped, reveal the top card of your library. If it's an artifact, creature, or land card, you may put it onto the battlefield with a manifestation counter on it. It's an enchantment in addition to its other types.
4/5
Devourer of Hope - 5BB
Creature - Demon
Flying
B, Sac another creature: Regenerate ~
2B, Sac two other creatures: Destroy target creature.
6/4
Firestoker Dragon - 4RR
Creature - Dragon
Flying
1R: ~ deals 1 damage to target creature. That creature can't block this combat. Activate this ability only if ~ is attacking.
5/4
Wild Nessian Devastator - 4GG
Creature - Hydra
Tribute 6 (As this creature enters the battlefield, an opponent of your choice may put 6 +1/+1 counter on it.)
When ~ enters the battlefield, if its tribute wasn't paid, you may have ~ fight another target creature.
6/6
beakedbard - I agree since in mtgsalvation the card spoiled is spanish and looks like the prerelease art. And now that WotC is now putting the intro pack rares in the prerelease packs, I think your assumption is correct.
Also, idk if any of these are Standard playable. Maybe the hydra, but the dragon and archon are a bit too expensive. But Silent Sentinel will probably be put into Aura EDH decks...probably.

I'm sure the Hydra will see some sideboard play. The Demon, Dragon and Archon would see play if they were cheaper. The Sphinx I'm not so sure about that ability looks like it can be broken but much as i enjoy the ability it will probably rarely see play. On another note pretty much all of them are epic in EDH so that's always good. God how i want to see that Sphinx broken in standard though.

Also how many Hunger Games jokes will we hear about the Tribute mechanic? I'm hedging my bets at "Over 9000"

The Hydra definitely looks nice. I like that Green get's some more removal (or you have a 12/12...).

The dragon will be an auto include in my dragon EDH with Zirilan of the Claw
The acrhon will probably be played in casual EDH aura too.
For the others, the hydra may be playable too

So with such high mana costs these are going to require serious Nykthos action, and encourage more mono-coloured devotion decks. This in turn encourages people to play out their hand as quickly as possible, in order to get devotion onto the board.
It's almost encouraging as bad play as 'Hellbent' did in Dissension.

Sphinx and hydra look okay, demon intrigues me. As someone playing big red devotion in standard this dragon is trash. I'd much rather play Chandra, Pyromaster
or Shivan Dragon
at the same cost because it has firebreathing.
All seem good in limited.

Other than the demon, none have any defense against control. The hydra will become a 12/12 and immediately meet my Doom Blade . Basically, none of these will hurt my Rakdos control too much.
January 11, 2014 10:58 a.m.
Well you won't have to because none of them are even remotely playable in standard.
January 11, 2014 11:19 a.m.
I like the tribute mechanic. I think that's going to be a lot of fun. The demon feels over-costed and unplayable - even in Limited. The sphinx looks like a major threat and breakable. Might need to side in some Polis Crusher against that.
I like the dragon a lot. It's a very straight-forward attacker. And figuring you had 6 mana available to cast it, that's plenty of mana each turn to pour into its ability to burn critters of the field. (Very good in Limited).

I quite like Firestoker Dragon. It's not as standard playable as Stormbreath Dragon
but against strategies like Selesnya or R/G monstrous it gives aggressive decks with smaller creatures a means to get past bigger and badder creatures. In Limited it's obviously a beast that allows you to make usage of all your mana whilst staying on the offensive.
I also like Nessian Devastator; I imagine he's quite a, dare I say, monster in multiplayer formats? Also dang, he is terrifying if you can find something to give him trample.
Mediator of the Real is super cool. MANFESTATION COUNTERS. FREE PERMANENTS. Ethereal Armor . Also is it just me or between Agent of the Fates and this guy is WOTC trying really hard to be like "NO YOU GUYS Hidden Strings ISN'T SO BAD"
Devourer of Hope wins for best name and favorite art out of the prerelease promos. I don't really like the sacrifice decks or 7 mana creatures so that's about all I havee to say. If my Orzhov Humans deck could effectively ramp him out I might've considered him for the removal ability
Silent Sentinel is alright. I'm not a fan of the promo art. I think it could be not half-bad depending on the density of the enchantment creatures White has access to or the strength of creature enchants that will come in Born of the Gods and Journey into Nyx.

I kind of like the Sphinx for Commander. There are so many ways to take advantage of tap untap abilities. It would be really cool to see him untap into something like Craterhoof Behemoth at during your untap step. Oddly enough...as I am writing this a huge lightning/thunder storm in brewing in my city during January, so I think that R/U god is either approving or disapproving this strategy.

Wild Nessian Devourer seems beast, especially in limited. Also as someone said above me, that green finally has a way to deal with Blood Baron of Vizkopa .
I imagine that in limited, this guy would just win you games. That you drop him down and regardless of your opponent paying tribute or not, he will just wreck the field.
January 11, 2014 1:41 p.m.
@PlainsAngels: $99 for a box preorder is pretty average. Some places will do a box for 89$ but you have to have it shipped and pay shipping charge.
100$-110$ for a box POS is MSRP, I think.

Garruk works better and only requires two cards and one color rather than three cards and three colors.

In limited they all seem pretty cool and in EDH will likely see play. In standard I think the Wild Nessian will be the only one to be playable. Now I just debated with somebody why I think this but put it brief all the creatures are rather high up on the expense and without going all Nykthos it's hard to hit them. Green on the other hand has access to ramp meaning a 6 drop in standard is pretty easy to hit. It comes in and it acts as immediate removal or you get a 12/12 (which for 6 is awesome) Yes it dies to Doom Blade (don't even pretend to say this, god damn am I sick of hearing this for every creature) however you can easily use Ranger's Guile or Mending Touch and your still keep a 12/12. Now lots of people say - but a vanilla 12/12 isn't that great. First of, Nylea, God of the Hunt gives trample. Personally I'de love to play this guy in Simic flashed in with Prophet and swing unblockable with Thassa. If by some chance you do get to have him as a 12/12 he'd be great to have Prime Speaker cast after him and would get stronger alongside Kalonian Hydra. In Gruul you can give First Strike and Trample with Legion Loyalist.
The Sphinx is the next plausible but out of them the Hydra seems like it will be the only one decent for standard. I think all will be great in limited and EDH.
All this said, until we get the full list of spoilers for Born of the Gods it's hard to know how well the cards will synergise.

My question is when will BNG be fully spoiled? I am ready to see all the cards so i can decide if i am going to buy one box of boosters and buy and trade for singles i want or just straight up buy two boxes of boosters straight up.
January 12, 2014 3:01 p.m.
Quadsimotto - Spoilers begin in earnest tomorrow, and the full set won't be spoiled until a few days before the prerelease. So you have quite a long time to wait.

A manifestation counter is a counter that lets you know that the permanent is also an enchantment due to Mediator's ability.

I would also love to know what a Manifestation Counter is.

I was going to make a thread for Devourer of Hope as well. Seems like him and Pack Rat will have fun together. I really don't like Silent Sentinal don't get me wrong the ability is epic but its just too costly without anything other than Flying and its ability i think it should at least have First Strike or Vigilance as well. Mediator of the Ideal could possibly make Ral Zarek and Hidden Strings useful as well as the fun it will have with Freed from the Real in other formats loving that Inspiration ability. Firestoker Dragon just seems fun to play with it seems very useful doesn't really fit mono-red due to its cost but its still a good card. Lastly the Hydra i love it forcing your opponent to choose between making it 12/12 for 6 or destroy pretty much any creature including Blood Baron of Vizkopa finally green has a good means of dealing with him.
I'm guessing these are going to be the intro pack rares probably wrong but wizards seem to bring out the intro pack rares before other things with spoilers.
