From Blogatog, Mark Rosewater's Tumblr:
"Ive been getting these two questions about Battle for Zendikar quite a bit, so I think its time I finally answered them.
First, yes, Battle for Zendikar will be the return of full-art lands. Ive seen them and youre all in for a real treat.
Second, Battle for Zendikar does have a cool rare cycle of dual lands, but theyre brand new designs and not the Zendikar fetch lands."

@Guftders- here's a link for convenience: LINK that Named_Tawyny is relating to. The Set after BFZ Block will be out in early/mid 2016 (spring) and that is when KTK/FRF will rotate out. You can click the link within the one provided under "Rotation Patterns" and Maro goes into a nice description of when everything rotates and how it all goes down with specific animations and charts at the bottom of the article illustrating the rotation pattern

I'm well aware of the rotation schedule (my exact words were "...the set after BFZ, as that releases as Khans/Fate Reforged rotate out" not after its released).
What I was saying was that, by putting them in the second set of BFZ block, they could shorten the amount of time all 10 fetches were together =)
Because putting them in the first set is a stupid move as it means that all ten fetches would be together for about 6 months. But yeah, as I said, completely baseless speculation, just getting my theory out there :P

I can see where the confusion occurred. "The set after BFZ..." would mean the second set to the block; which is Sweat. You're saying the set after BFZ Block which would be Tears. Am I getting this correct?
Also, I do agree with the idea of having the enemy fetches in Tears as all 10 fetches in standard would be a terrible idea.

Just finding something interesting with the 'Awaken' mechanic...
Turn a land into a 0/0 with some number of +1/+1 counters (let's say 3).
Sounds sweet... plus if you turned a ...let's say... Stirring Wildwood into a 0/0 with counters, you can still activate it, and turn it into a 6/7 (3/4 with 3x +1/+1 counters).
I'm liking the synergy... though it also makes me think that man-lands are a little less likely to be in the set.
August 18, 2015 12:28 p.m.
If I see to many people running around with animated lands I'm going to use Daghatar the Adamant to kill them all. Mwahahaha!
August 18, 2015 4:31 p.m.
9 mana to kill a awakening 3? I think worth[ ]; not worth[X]
August 18, 2015 5:16 p.m.
Darkmagi1131 says... #9
Depends on the point of view as its 9 mana to kill a 3/3 and gain a 7/7 (provided you put the counters on Daghatar the Adamant )

Triforce-Finder says... #10
well, more like turning a 4/4 into a 7/7, which is just a gain of 3 counters. I'd rather just use a 1 mana Lightning Bolt on it, or maybe Anger of the Gods/Languish if they have three or more animated lands.
August 18, 2015 6:45 p.m.
Darkmagi1131 says... #11
Languish will work but both bolt and anger rotate. That's provided bolt was in standard to begin with
August 18, 2015 6:55 p.m.
TheNextRedDude says... #12
you all are completely ignoring the fact that there are numbers higher than three.
August 18, 2015 7:06 p.m.
Triforce-Finder says... #13
Higher than three? Impossible! One, Two, Many! That's how counting works!
Joke aside, a land with 4 or more counters would be even more expensive to kill with Daghatar the Adamant alone. It might help support in the kill after dealing insufficient damage, but even then I'd rather just use an effect that destroys, exiles or bounces regardless of toughness.
Bolt will never rotate out of Modern, neither will anger. It's as if some people forget that there are other formats beside Standard. But even in Standard, you can bet that there will be a few kill spells that are cheaper than 9 mana.
August 18, 2015 7:20 p.m.
Daghatar the Adamant isn't used to remove three counters from them, it's used to make them small enough to not kill Deathmist Raptor or Avatar of the Resolute. Still, it'd only be feasible if opponents actually played these animate land type cards. If they do, I would be willing to try out a Daghatar in an Inspiring Call type deck.

Something I was wondering was if he meant just Battle for Zendikar (the set) rather than the entire block, in which case the fetches could be in next expansion to the block? If this was already discus, or I am a fool, I apologize. I certainly look forward to more full art lands (Time to buy many many fatpacks (assuming the fullart lands are in the land packs)).
August 19, 2015 4:25 p.m.
@gandalfthewizard It was already discussed and deemed unlikely. Wizards will probably not have all 10 fetches in standart at the same time. The block after BFZ block seems more likely.

I apologize if this has been posted elsewhere, but have we heard any news about spoiler dates or anything else?
August 19, 2015 7:58 p.m.
I'd assume as usual the week before prerelease will be the spoiler week.

well there was a man land in the duel deck
I guess enemy man lands will be in this set?
Do they see play in modern?
August 19, 2015 8:46 p.m.
IvoryFrost says... #23
That too but Mark did say on his Tumblr that the Dual decks held many clues of what's in BFZ
August 19, 2015 8:52 p.m.
I reckon that the new lands will be if there are X or more lands under your control this enters untapped (or has another ability such as when there are X or more lands under your control you may tap for another colour).
August 20, 2015 6:20 a.m.
Know what would be cool, but unlikely? Graft lands like Llanowar Reborn. Seems good with awaken.
August 20, 2015 9:03 a.m.
Did anyone see the Jwar Submerged leaked Photo? Not sure if it's real or not, but it's definitely a cool idea, especially since you can fetch for them in standard.

Looks fake. Or at least the set symbol makes me think that. Honestly looks like it was made on MSE.

It's fake, here's the link to the full image:

Just because it isn't a picture of the real card it is possible it's a concept picture that a designer leaked.
August 20, 2015 3:32 p.m.
This was a baseless spec by TheProxyGuy, a guy who makes card mock ups...

I am displeased by the announcement that the fetchlands shall not be reprinted in this set, but my disappointment is mild, since I rarely ever use those lands. However, I notice that Mark Rosewater was very ambiguous with his answer, because he did not specify if he meant the entire Battle for Zendikar block or only the first set of the block, so it may be possible, if unlikely, that the enemy-colored fecthlands shall reprinted in the second set.
Is it possible that the cycle of dual lands may be based off one of the dual lands from Future Sight? Since Graven Cairns was given its own cycle, I believe that it would be very awesome to see a complete cycle based off another land, most especially Nimbus Maze. How likely is that to happen?

GreenGhost says... #34
I would prefer a Horizon Canopy cycle, but that is a gift only to be gotten from magical Christmas land...

Demon, please read te before pages. I HIGHLY doubt that they will reprint them in second set. Mark rose water specifies that no, infact, there will be no fetches. "There will be no fetches in battle for zendikar". I do believe that the block is named battle for zendikar. Therefor, there are no fetches in battle for zendikar. Please stop suggesting that, it's a baseless speculation and I'm tired of people suggesting it and it making a notification on my thug pop up. Please stop. For anyone in the future.

what are the odds of Grove of the Burnwillows becoming a cycle...in standard?
August 20, 2015 10:08 p.m.
a burnwillow cycle with Tainted Remedy would be pretty fun.
Was mentioned here before by someone iirc
August 20, 2015 10:34 p.m.
WovenNebula says... #38
@trollslayer while I agree baseless speculation on fetches is becoming overly redundant and ridiculous, Rosewater usually picks what he says very carefully and does not mean fetches won't be in the block. Although they could appear elsewhere landfall would be a terrible mechanic to bring back without fetches unless they printed a good amount of creatures that brought lands into play etc..I'm not suggesting that fetches will be reprinted soon but just food for thought.
August 20, 2015 10:35 p.m.
trollslayer says... #39
Well, remember, Mark DID say that it would be new design and brand new at that. I don't really think that they would reprint a cycle of another card type, per it being brand new. Just sayin....
August 20, 2015 11:40 p.m.
Triforce-Finder says... #40
Has this come full cycle now?
I thought we established that "brand new design" could be interpreted to be just the artwork, but that it is highly unlikely. Also that he only excluded ZEN fetches, not fetches in general. Those would make sense to release together with landfall.
I don't want to stifle discussion, but well, for a second I was thinking I'm not on the last page of the thread.
August 20, 2015 11:53 p.m.
trollslayer says... #41
Well, "new design". If it was new artwork I'm pretty sure he would have said "new artwork" not new design. He would have said "new artwork" to have people be even more hyped up about for bfz because
New artwork, who didn't like it?
We would have the same thread Exept it would be "which lands are getting a reprint?"
August 21, 2015 12:18 a.m.
IvoryFrost says... #42
I have a feeling a week from today (at PAX) we'll get to see what the new lands are
and maybe a look at the full art lands.
August 22, 2015 8:23 p.m.
Triforce-Finder well seeing as the ally colored fetches were just reprinted I highly doubt that they will be reprinted anytime soon.
August 22, 2015 8:59 p.m.

unsubscribing from a discussion that just keeps repeating itself, and guys who reply to me without getting my point.
August 22, 2015 9:24 p.m.
Doesn't need to be classic fetches tho right. Maybe it's something that let's you put a land into play from library, but the cost/condition is different. Might be exiling lands from graveyard/hand/battlefield or something like that.
August 23, 2015 6:07 a.m.
What are the odds that the Eldrazi have taken over Zendikar at it's core and we thus get... an Eldrazi Manland?
Something like:
land: for 1 colorless mana
3 uncolored mana: this land becomes a 3/3 colorless Eldrazi drone with Ingest 3. It's still a land
August 23, 2015 6:09 a.m.
Ingest is always only 1 card? The drone doesnt have "ingest 1"
August 23, 2015 6:12 a.m.
Something could probably have multiple instances of Ingest, a la Maelstrom Wanderer's double Cascade. Though I think that's unlikely

Off Topic (kind of) - Will BFZ fat packs have full art basics in them?
Named_Tawyny says... #1
@Guftders, Khans/Fate doesn't rotate out until the set AFTER the set after BFZ.
