Artifact (Rare)

Convoke

As ~ enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.

Creatures of the chosen type get +2/+2.

I think it could be pretty good in certain tribal EDH builds. Vampires, Allies, even Goblins or Elves (well, maybe not elves, but you see my point).

Crap. EDIT: Creatures you control of the chosen type get +2/+2.

Hm with convoke that has massive potential if you name soldier in certain decks.

Here's one mockup

T1 plains, Soldier of the Pantheon .

T2 plains, Raise the Alarm (also been spoiled).

T3 any land play this.

I suppose that is kinda janky and i'd probably play it later when there's other creatures to defend but the amount of soldiers there is in standard atm i think this could become playable as a 1 or 2 of in certain decks. It could also work with Spirit Bonds.

I dunno. I think I'd just rather play a Spear of Heliod on turn-3 and attack for 7.

This ain't gonna be a tier 1 staple unless Khans pulls some serious tribal support, but it's not a bad card at all, I don't think.

It's silly for EDH tribal shenanigans, if nothing else.

Yeah you could always play the Spear then play that a turn or 2 after that. There's a few good soldiers/soldier spawning spells in standard atm (as well as Raise the Alarm and Ajani's Pridemate in the spoilers) hell even Brimaz and the tokens he throws out are soldiers.

Then again this may just be my urge to create a viable tribal deck atm.

This could be decent sideboard material for mono-black against the mirror. Use Pack Rat , name Rat, the Convoke makes it cost less, and it's a bit easier to get out of Bile Blight range. It's certainly not the best, but that's why I said could.

Why choose "Rat" when Pack Rat already makes all your Rats stronger? By discarding this, you get another Rat and they become stronger.

I would put this in mud and name elemental. 4/3 master tokens with master on the field, 3/2 without master. Seems really good, especially since you can afford to tap your tokens right after they enter

Or, you play this and they all get +2/+2 permanently. Again, it's an option. Hell, I'd be fine with using one card and four mana, tapping two creatures to give all my Pack Rat tokens +2/+2 and then start hurling things in the bin for more of them.

I would put this in my Marath deck. One colorless per token and they swing for three. Not to mention taping down a handful of tokens to bring it out for almost nothing.

I don't think it'll be uber competitive, but I can definitely find a place for it in that deck.

ItchiUchiha117 Making another Pack Rat always puts more power in play for you than this card. With 1 Pack Rat this puts 2 points of power into play, it's a 3/3 now. Making an extra Pack Rat adds 1 points of power to to the existing Pack Rat and also puts a 2/2 into play for 3 power.

Let's say you have 3 Pack Rat tokens on the field. Casting this makes them all 5/5s, putting 6 points of power on the field. Making a rat instead makes all your rats 4/4s, only an increase of 3 power, but you also put another 4/4 creature into play making it 7 additional power in play.

If you have 100 Pack Rats casting this puts 200 power into play, but making another rat adds 100 power to the existing rats but also also makes a new 101 power rat.

While there might be situations where it's nice to have all the power able to attack that turn, it's always less efficient than making a rat.
