This can be a centralised place where most of the discussion around Commander 2015 spoilers takes place.
The Wizards announcement with the release date and more details is here
So here we go:
Another year of commander precons and another year of excitement. What are you looking forward to? What do you hope for? What would you really dislike?
Looking for some sweet new simic and izzet toys. I've never bought a precon commander deck, but I'm hopeful that one of those two has enough exciting new cards that I waste $30 on it

Ya know, the Experience Counters on Kalemne are almost superfluous. A 3/3 With Double Strike and Vigilance for 2WR is amazing for equip centric decks. Now I want to build a Voltron around Kalemne...

He's certainly interesting- the experience counters don't go away if he's killed, so he'll be stronger every time you cast him. Voltron styles should love this guy.
October 15, 2015 6:41 a.m.
Its worth noting that you get experience counters, not the card, which makes it far, far better.
October 15, 2015 6:43 a.m.
Wow, thanks ChiefBell, I really did miss that. OK, so maybe the counters aren't as useless as I thought then.
October 15, 2015 6:45 a.m. Edited.
Looks like the experience counters will work with proliferate cards.
October 15, 2015 7:38 a.m.
I want the Orzhov deck to be like Soul sisters with black help. Like Deathgreeter and Blood Artist and stuff like that. And then some pay life to kill stuff cards like Kuro, Pitlord.
October 15, 2015 7:56 a.m.
And obviously it won't be as good, but it would be sick if the Golgari build was a stax deck like My Deckbox Smells of Rich Mahogany.(Nath Primer)

Do we know when the release date is for the new commander set?
October 15, 2015 8:03 a.m.
I think it's the 15th of November. Or something like that.
October 15, 2015 8:09 a.m.
The big hype for GP Atlanta is that it's also the launch weekend for C15.
As far as Kalemne, I'm hype. He seems really powerful and could be a good voltron general. Works well with Nahiri, the Lithomancer and puts in a new light. You usually don't cast big dudes in , so his triggered ability is quite unique.
October 15, 2015 8:33 a.m.
Kalemne is really powerful, but he's no Kaalia of the Vast ;P
I can think of a lot of creatures that his ability would hit. Urabrask the Hidden, Stonehewer Giant, Aurelia, the Warleader, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, and Avacyn, Angel of Hope just to name a few
Also, what would you prefer: Kalemne or Rafiq of the Many? The big difference is the support with Rafiq, but Kalemne encourages the boros large-scale attacks
October 15, 2015 8:47 a.m.
greyninja - If we're theorycrafting here, gives Rafiq ramp and control options. Also he gets good general artifact tutors like Fabricate plus enchantress effects if you want to play Eldrazi Conscription. gives Kalemne great haste options, like Anger, and you can play big Dragons to help you get experience counters. also has the giants you'd want like Cloudgoat Ranger, Thundercloud Shaman, Ivory Giant, Brion Stoutarm, Inferno Titan, and Sun Titan to name a few. Note how most of them have a CMC >= 5.

I'm sorry, but Rafiq wins, hands down. Better draw, better card selection, Berserk...
October 15, 2015 9:20 a.m.
slovakattack - The question was which do you prefer, not which one is better. Rafiq is definitely better, considering Commander's proclivity to always having perfect mana and the versatility of Bant vs Boros. However Kalemne is definitely interesting should people want to build around him.
October 15, 2015 9:23 a.m.
At last, it begins! Could be worth noting this card's similarity with the Origin's card Iroas's Champion in both function (sorta) and flavor. Perhaps this means we'd have g/b elves (Shaman of the Pack) and u/r artifacts (Reclusive Artificer)other such themes? Maybe like a hint as to what we could expect for the other generals. Who knows? Just a hunch really.

JWiley129: Fair. Honestly, I'm just super butthurt that he wasn't a proper token general. Boros already has a bunch of Voltron commanders (Aurelia, Gisela). I would have really liked something like a 3/3 with an Assemble the Legion attached, or something. A consistent way of making tokens that doesn't suck (Cough, Kemba) would have made all the difference to Boros token decks.
October 15, 2015 9:27 a.m.
I think a Boros, large creatures matter deck IS interesting. It's not know for that.
October 15, 2015 9:33 a.m.
Kalemne is also a reason to finally put Stinkdrinker Daredevil in your deck!
October 15, 2015 9:35 a.m.
EndStepTop says... #25
JWiley129 maybe? It doesn't power kalemne out a turn early, unless your running giant tribal(but real talk. Brion stoutarm, stonehewer and hamlet back goliath might make this viable.) it might be sub bar to the medallions.
October 15, 2015 10:09 a.m.
Gspot - But Stinkdrinker Daredevil will make Kalemne not cost an additional for Commander tax!
October 15, 2015 10:11 a.m.
Ah, at long last, COMMANDER SEASON.
As to this particular card? It really depends on how many cards in the deck have XP effects. With only 55 new cards across five decks, it's very likely there are no more than eleven XP cards in the boros deck. That's enough for some real cross synergy...if most of the new cards are XP cards.
I like the new mechanic in theory; experience looks like slivers minus slivers with a simple, high synergy effect. But if Commander 2015 is our only source of them, it'll be hard to put enough of them into a homebrew.
October 15, 2015 10:12 a.m.
It might be worth talking about the themes we think will be seen:
Black Green will be sacrifice and reanimation I think.
White and Black will be lifeloss and lifegain effects.
I think Red and White will be about large creatures but I'm unsure.
Red and Blue will be a spells matter deck. Prowess, flashback, scry etc.
Green and Blue will be about card draw and +1/+1 counters. I think.

Hopefully they don't make experience counters all have the same trigger.
I'm guessing that the counters will probably come from sacrificing creatures, although that may be done too often for the effect to be powerful.
could be fun if it was on casting instants/sorceries.
will probaly trigger off of lifegain or something.
edit: took to long writing this - ninja'd

I wanna see:
2UR
2/2
"Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, gain an experience counter. Instant and sorcery spells you control cost 1 colorless less to cast."
October 15, 2015 10:35 a.m.
jchudz - They likely won't do triggers off the same things.
As far as Kalemne, they could have easily caused her (yes Kalemne is a she, look closely at the art) to trigger off of attacks like Battalion. But instead they went with "Creatures w/ CMC >=5" theme. Makes me consider Giant tribal for the deck.
The color color combinations are probably what people are describing, since they are the usual suspects. likes to sacrifice things. likes to cast Instants/Sorceries. likes to gain life. And likes to ramp/draw cards.
I'm excited to see what else is coming down the pike for C15!

it could totally use artifacts as large creatures, Duplicant, Wurmcoil Engine, Platinum Angel.
for nonartifacts, Luminate Primordial and Molten Primordial are pretty sweet in casual EDH. and as mentioned above elesh, aurelia, and those cards that are all good.
I think G/U being strictly card draw and +1/+1 counters is kind of overused. I don't know what else it would be but I'd like it to be more than that, I want somethign in the colors to do that isn't counters.
I'm also pretty hopeful that R/U is artifacts, or at least an artifact subtheme. the colors need an artifact commander.

I know like everyone already screamed this to the heavens, but enemy fetch lands would be great.
October 15, 2015 12:28 p.m.
Kalemne is ok. I half-expected a combat-based Boros general, but the fact that she works with creatures CMC 5+ makes me wonder how they will make her work. I already got the deck anyway, so I may as well try her out.
Also, "Wade into Battle" sounds like a combat based deck.
October 15, 2015 12:54 p.m.
I've been thinking on Kalemne and I make the argument that she is one of, if not the best, general for Sunforger. It turns her into a 2-3 turn clock with the ability to cast spells. That is something Tajic, Blade of the Legion can't boast.
I'm building the deck right now, and I'm stumped on that CMC 5+ creatures to run to rake up those experience counters.

Duplicant, Aurelia, the Warleader, Avacyn, Angel of Hope are a good starting point. Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is pretty sweet.
October 15, 2015 1:37 p.m.
Phaetion - There are some listed above, but here are a few: Aurelia, the Warleader, Sun Titan, Inferno Titan, Thundercloud Shaman, Cloudgoat Ranger, Hellkite Charger, Stormbreath Dragon, Thundermaw Hellkite, Agrus Kos, and some more to consider.
October 15, 2015 1:38 p.m.
I completed the deck (without a Stoneforge Mystic...please reprint this, WOTC), and I forgot about Duplicant, so I'll add that in as soon as I find room.
I thought about some of those. Some made it, others didn't.

So, first commander is a dud to my Johnny-style max-synergy senses, but I'm super hoping we get a Boros control commander (or anything non-combat), an Orzhov enchantress commander, an Izzet artificer commander, a Golgari reanimate commander, and a simic tokens commander.
October 15, 2015 1:55 p.m.
asasinater13 says... #43
simic tokens would be super fun, something clone/copy based would be so great.

Hmm. I was expecting to be the worst of the 5, but this guy kind of makes me feel like they are trying to make aggro a bit more viable in EDH. We'll see how that works out, though.
At the very least I would buy his deck for a good building challenge.

RedUndead40 says... #45
Okay so I'm thinking mainly a voltron theme but with good utility ETB effects on your CMC 5+ creatures. Godo, Bandit Warlord would go great here since Kalemne has vigilance. Conquering Manticore, Thundermaw Hellkite, Karmic Guide, Duplicant, Zealous Conscripts, Sun Titan, Inferno Titan.... lots of good options for this guy
And I'm betting they might throw in Aurelia, the Warleader as the reprint commander

Subbing for the hype. First commander looks decent, not too exciting to build but still powerful enough to see play.

I love commanders that like to do everything themselves. He seems very win more in Duel because if you are dropping 5cmc creatures chances are you are already winning.
Still a lot of fun to smash with and fits really well in Naya. Might even run more reanimation to make his counters more relevant if he is only in the 99.
October 15, 2015 2:57 p.m.
I can never remember how cmc works. Does she give an exp counter the 2nd time you cast her from the command zone?
