Official Spoiler Thread.
Have at it.
MurderHood U scared me bro. for a second I thought you could go infinite with the goblin and Cackling Counterpart, but then I went back to read the goblin and thankfully it has the exile built in...
phew.

That would be such an awesome infinite combo. Like Splinter Twin but way cooler and a bit slower. I would totally build that deck.

Endbringer seems like it will come up short in the end. If it goes unchecked it can run away with a game but it appears to be too much of an investment for no immediate return or durability. There are many other 5, 6, and 7 drops seeing play that provide immediate returns and also must be answered after the fact. If opponents are actively trading resources or trying to break parity I think the enbringer player is at a disadvantage.
After thinking about Goblin Dark Dwellers some more I realized it's kinda like Flametongue Kavu fucked Snapcaster Mage and made a baby. 3 for 1's with K Command incoming.
December 20, 2015 12:01 p.m.
1) goblin dark dwellers into K command
2) K command makes opponent discard k command and brings back another dark dwellers
3) play second dark dwellers.
4) dwellers returns crackling doom to kill opponents rhino and gideon.
5) Laugh and walk away at your 7 for 1

Still ... targeting the goblin dwellers with Cackling Counterpart is awesome. Imagine if they try and swing for the finish. You respond with Cackling Counterpart, get two goblin dweller tokens, and do something else, like bolt something or Terminate something. You've effectively gotten 2 4/4 menaces and probably removed one of their creatures for 3 mana.

ToolmasterOfBrainerd says... #8
Or better yet, grab Kommand with the second one. Assuming Kommand is a 2-for-1, you're getting 2 4/4 menace creatures plus a kommand, so it's a 3 mana 4-for-1? Sounds good to me!

Make the rest of the deck a big grixis shell. Crackling Counterpart isn't quite as good with Snapcaster Mage, but it's worth running. I'm thinking something like this:
3 Goblin Dark-Dwellers
23 lands
I like that list a lot, actually. Very synergistic. With counterpart, I can get another ETB from PiKi, Goblin, Vendilion, or Snappy. I'm going to make this into a deck. Let's see if we can get it some attention!

Goblin dark-dwellers = new Snapcaster Mage??? Hop on the hype train boys!

Nightdragon779 says... #12
Too bad the spell goes to exile, otherwise, Cackling Counterpart + goblin dark dwellers would've been the new splinter-twin.

And Fated Infatuation for a deck stack while you're at it.

SHIT!!! GDD is an infinite with fated retribution right!!!???
December 20, 2015 8:24 p.m.
wwhitegoldd says... #15
Nvr mind. The exile Claus is on GDD not counter part.
December 20, 2015 8:25 p.m.
No, because the text of our new goblin friend says it exiles the spell he flashes back (specifically to stop that type of thing, I think)
Edit: nvm. You answered your own question :)
December 20, 2015 8:26 p.m. Edited.
I spent all night brewing a standard Dark dwellers and chandra deck. Its Grixis with a splash of white for the value train.
I would post the list but its in notepad with a lot of notes. I also have to give credit to a user named Tempura on Untap for tag-building it with me.
December 20, 2015 8:33 p.m.
Its been great in testing, will probably be tier 1.

Ashockfan if you've been playing it already I'd love your opinion on my attempt at a list Goblin Dark-Dwellers Grixis Midrange. Thanks!
December 20, 2015 8:51 p.m.
Honestly I wish that the guy "didn't" exile the spells, so we could have some tasty T5/6 modern combo or a new commander combo.
December 20, 2015 8:55 p.m.
@kengiczar no. It would be like a turn 1 or 2 kill with ramp spells and the perfect hand. lots of red rituals, dwellerd, cackle, go infinite, use the last one to return ritual into fervor and attack for lethal.
December 20, 2015 9 p.m.
@ToolmasterOfBrainerd I was messing around with them in standard, and they feel like a situationally BETTER snapcaster. its ridiculous. About your modern deck, It looks sweet, ill comment more descriptively on the deck page.
December 20, 2015 9:02 p.m.
actually, not much else to say. it looks sweet , though im not sure how you would want to change it. Definitely play baby jace tho. +1 from me

Femme_Fatale says... #24
We don't do that with Splinter Twin, Ashockfan so we wouldn't do it with Gwellers. It would pretty much be the same shell for both, but the GWellers version would probably win more often, due to having better creatures and that Cackling Counterpart also counters removal.

Shhhh! With all the hype going on about GDD being a 'budget snapcaster', the hype train is going to turn that card into a $20 standard staple before I can preorder it!
December 21, 2015 7:52 a.m.
EpicFreddi says... #26
GeminiSpartanX and then it will suck and drop down to 20 cent. :P
December 21, 2015 8:06 a.m.
Meh, it looks like a value card. I'll take one, then, if [big IF] I open some sealed, and get it, then I will sell it to the store...

BlastercoolWeird, why do you figure Endbringer will be an easy to get promo?
AFAIK, they're doing launch promos for OGW the same as they did for BFZ.
December 21, 2015 8:45 a.m.
@GeminiSpartanX nah this thread won't change anything. On release day I'm buying 20$ worth of gwellers... It'll probably be like 40 of them
December 21, 2015 8:56 a.m.
Launch promos tend to be easier to get than something like a pre-release promo or judge promo because everyone gets one. Since the supply of launch promos is much greater it's usually easier to find someone with a copy they'll part with.

- t1 Thought Scour self
- t2 Play Breaking on self,
- t3 Footsteps of the Goryo out DD, casting Entering for Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger with haste.
- t4 Archive Trap ftw?.
else Goryo's Vengeance w/snapcaster? Glimpse the Unthinkable for additional graveyard? Esper shell with Cloudshift, Unburial Rites?Living End?
Dark-Dwelling reanimator looks filled with possiblility...
December 21, 2015 9:08 a.m.
Not sure Breaking / Entering is a legal target for dwellers
December 21, 2015 9:17 a.m.
The cmc for Breaking / Entering is 8, so definitely not a legal target. Even if you just had to count the side you wanted to use, Entering would still have a cmc of 6.

708.6. Some effects perform comparisons involving one or more split cards in a zone other than the stack or involving one or more fused split spells.708.6a Anything that performs a positive comparison (such as asking if a card is red) or a relative comparison (such as asking if a cards converted mana cost is 3 or less) involving one or more split cards in any zone other than the stack or involving one or more fused split spells gets only one answer. This answer is yes if either side of each split card in the comparison would return a yes answer if compared individually.Example: Void reads, Choose a number. Destroy all artifacts and creatures with converted mana cost equal to that number. Then target player reveals his or her hand and discards all nonland cards with converted mana cost equal to the number. If a player casts Void and chooses 1, his or her opponent would discard Assault/Battery because its converted mana costs are 1 and 4. The same is true if the player chooses 4. If the player chooses 5, however, Assault/Battery would be unaffected.
December 21, 2015 9:40 a.m.
lagotripha says... #35
Boom! and since it returns a yes, I can then cast breaking or entering without paying it's mana cost, as had been covered in the epic experiment rulings!Brewing time!

wwhitegoldd says... #36
I'm still not sure that's how it works. When GDD looks at the graveyard it will see a cmc for each half but I think it can only cast the half with cmc 3 or less. My understanding is that if a split card is in any other zone than the stack it is almost two cards. So Gwellers will see both haves and then only be able to cast the half with cmc 3 or less.

wwhitegoldd says... #37
Nvr Mind. Reread the rules like 3 or 4 more times and my reasoning is not right. However, I still am not sure that's how it works and even if it did work that combo involves to many cards and doesn't even win you the game to be playable in anything.
December 21, 2015 12:31 p.m.
wwhitegoldd I'm pretty sure an Ulamog on turn 3 with haste can win you the game. XD
December 21, 2015 2:59 p.m.
lagotripha says... #39
I'm pretty sure 1/6 your deck in the yard and any gamewinning creature t3 can win you the game. Heck, you could probably build a shell with revillark/sun titan or a twisted bloom titan variant if you pushed it.
December 21, 2015 3:04 p.m.
GoblinBushwacker says... #40
Runlue Footsteps of the Goryo doesn't give haste..
December 21, 2015 3:47 p.m.
GoblinBushwacker says... #42
Yeah lol, was actually just responding to my own comment saying i was wrong as i noticed yours. I'm am also like 99% sure that you can't use the new goblin to cast Entering. And even if you could, the combo would still be pretty bad as wwhitegold said
December 21, 2015 3:52 p.m.
Oh I figured that there is a big chance it doesn't work, but if it does for some odd reason, holy poop it looks like a fun combo!
I mean, sure it takes a LOT, but it's so janked up it's awesome!
December 21, 2015 3:58 p.m.
elpokitolama says... #44
It does for the very same reason why you can choose to play Entering if you cascaded into it with a card whose CMC is higher than 2. ;)

Here's my shot at the dark dwellers reanimator- tends to ulamog or sundering titan turn 3-4, and have a second turn five/six. Considering an artifact twist, but we'll see. Dark-dwellers Reanimator. would appreciate thoughts.

Here's my GDD budget grixis control, need some help.
December 22, 2015 7:02 a.m.
LiveForChaos you can't cast Blood then Flesh unless you have two copies in hand. The spells resolve in the order of Flesh then Blood if you fuse them.
MurderHood says... #1
Hey how good do you think using Goblin Dark-Dwellers to flashback Cackling Counterpart multiple times and cast the last spell (I.e. Serum Visions, Kolaghan's Command, Lightning Bolt, Thoughtseize, Go for the Throat, Etc, Etc.) and then have 1-2 evasive bodies?
