I think the black oath will be lose x life and draw x cards or opponents lose x life and gain x life

Mackman99 says... #2

So in one of the deck lists mentioned for Sphinx of the Final Word, there was one card that interested me: 3x not yet revealed Mythic Rare. It's a UR control deck. That unrevealed mythic sounds like a new Jace to me, as he is the only planeswalker not yet given a card out of the 4 (or 5) oath planeswalkers.

jchudz says... #4

the leaks are still considered "not yet revealed" so that slot is probably for the new chandra or for kozilek's return

Kryzis says... #5

We have 11 total mythics revealed right now, 2 White, 2 Blue, 1 Black, 2 Red, 2 Green, and 2 Colorless. It seems very likely with the new block and rotation sequencing coming up that wizards will want to increase the number of mythic rares in circulation, and that we will see 12 total in this set. It makes sense color wise to have 1 more black so that each color will have 2 mythic rares.

Nightdragon779 says... #6

Kryzis makes sense. Think they're gonna make an Emrakul at all? He could be a black mythic...

January 1, 2016 8:08 p.m.

What about a multicolored mythic? No option for those? I'm also not convinced we're even going to see another mythic in this set.

January 1, 2016 8:21 p.m.

Nightdragon779 says... #8

RumoCrytuf with devoid of course, but I see your point. That's too bad, I thought Emrakul would be in OGW, read the flavor text on Ugin's Insight

January 1, 2016 8:27 p.m.

Kryzis says... #9

Maybe in SOI, look up the rumors about him going into Innistrad, they're pretty great.

January 1, 2016 9:31 p.m.

NarejED says... #10

Her*. Emrakul is referred to in the lore as being female. If you're going to give it a gender type, at least use the right one.

(crickets)

I'm looking forward to seeing another Black card.

At this stage though I'm thinking about a RU build.

CChaos says... #15

I think it is too late to introduce Emrakul into the picture, especially since Kozilek just appeared. Seeing Emrakul makes sense once they finalize who the black walker will be, probably Sorin after he finds Nahiri unless they introduce a new one (Crow man who follows Liliana around, he intrigues me).

Also I hope to see a second black mythic. Seeing my favorite colour left out (1 mythic) would suck :(

January 2, 2016 8:52 a.m.

Kroto says... #20

There is never a mid block rotation. While the next block hasn't arrived there will be no rotation. With the arrival of the next block aka SOI release, ktk and frf rotate leaving us with dtk, origins, bfz and ogw.

January 2, 2016 8:53 a.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #21

That is correct. DTK and ORI will rotate sometime around the Autumn of 2016.

Stoneforge Masterwork is my new favourite card.

Put together a brew with lots of Humans and lots of Thopters.

Hell the Humans even bring Thopters with them to the party.

Shit is insane.

Kjartan says... #25

What do people think of "Jori En, Ruin Diver"? I think it has "some" potential in a modern tempo deck like Delver, where half the deck is cantrips.

If she sticks she could generade an additional card draw per round, (probably not per turn, though)

January 2, 2016 11:11 a.m.

Kroto says... #26

Play eldrazi, use herald of kozilek, play sigil of valor or masterwork for 1 or 0, ???, value

Kravian says... #27

We already have a ramp deck . . . could Oath of Nissa give that deck a superfriends boost, or even a transformation sideboard option?

I can't even standard, so I don't know if that kind of a transform would really help vs the bad matchups, I'm just curious about the potential of slotting out Newlamog and a few ramp spells for just Ugin top end and then 8 or so 3-5 cmc walkers with 4 oaths.

Also flavor-wise I wish the wording on Oath of Nissa could get you the flip-walkers, but it'd be like 2 paragraphs long if they added that in.

January 2, 2016 12:43 p.m.

You can get the flip walkers. It says "Creature, Land, or Planeswalker".

January 2, 2016 12:45 p.m.

Kravian says... #29

@Kjartan, adding non-instants/sorceries is a risk, but it also can't be ignored that she speeds up the clock by being a body. Won't replace the delve-bans, but could be good.

Stoneforge Masterwork in slivers...

hmmm

January 2, 2016 12:55 p.m.

IvoryFrost I play slivers, and I was thinking the same, but slivers is more about benefiting your whole board, not one sliver.

January 2, 2016 1:04 p.m.

Kjartan says... #35

IvoryFrost I think Spirits is the deck that can grow it the largest with less effort, but it might not want it due to its inharent clunkyless in such a streamlied deck.

January 2, 2016 1:25 p.m.

Kjartan says... #36

clunkyness*

January 2, 2016 1:25 p.m.

I'm hoping oath of Chandra ends up being Volcanic Hammer as the etb and whenever a creature attacks you or a planeswalker you control oath deals X damage to that creature. X = # of planeswalkers. Mana cost of .

January 2, 2016 1:39 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #38

I only just caught up from page 7. I haven't been on this thread in ages. I suppose I'll just comment on some cards that stand out.

As a U/R player, I am deeply upset with the manland that we got. It's arguably worse than Stirring Wildwood. It might still see play just because it's a manland, but it is probably one of the worst of the entire cycle, if not the worst (seriously, I'd rather play Lavaclaw Reaches over this, any day).

The Oaths look super playable. They replace themselves when you play them, which is all you really need.

EDH players, you got your five-color ally commander.

Embodiment of Fury looks like great deck filler.

Skinning Tendrils is awesome for control decks- see Drown in Sorrow).

Linvala seems meh. It's no Timely Reinforcements because it costs so much more, but I suppose it's playable.

Remorseless Punishment needed to cost at least less to be good. Browbeat was what that card wasn't, and Browbeat can't be played because you would always get the worst mode chosen for you.

Reflector Mage HYPEEE. It's easily standard playable due to the sheer Time Walks. I mean, Man-o'-War was really good the last time I checked.

Deepfathom Skulker + Mindmelter??? Maybe we are getting the correct U/B Eldrazi theme this time.

Eldrazi Obligator, Vile Redeemer and Flayer Drone all seem okay, at least.

Immolating glare is really good. I mean, Kill Shot is strictly worse than this, and this might even be constructed playable (a la Surge of Righteousness).

Spatial contortion is the kill spell C/x decks were looking for. Thanks, color pie.

Kroto says... #39

If Chandra's oath did x damage to attacking creatures it would be way too strong. GR oath walker ramp would flood the format. 3 walkers = practically locked boardstate. Since player burn is rather rare now that would definetly break standart and force a single competetive deck.

January 2, 2016 2:05 p.m.

jchudz says... #40

Chandra's oath wil probably etb to deal damage with the planeswalkers matter ability being Falter x creatures or something.

January 2, 2016 3:24 p.m.

Here's my General Tazri EDH, it's pretty bad right now, so I'll need some help.

Is tazri's color identity just white or WUBRG? I want to use Command Tower but I'm not sure if it can produce any color mana.

January 2, 2016 4:50 p.m.

GreenGhost says... #42

January 2, 2016 8:19 p.m.

Harashiohorn says... #49

I really like the UR manland, as its ability can be activated at any time, or in other words, you can attack, if it's unblocked switch it to a 4/1, then if they try to bolt it, make it into a 1/4 again and make their bolt a waste. Very UR

January 2, 2016 8:20 p.m.

Drakon562 says... #50

@Harashiohorn I was going to make a modern deck based around the UR manland and Legion's Initiative to make it infinitely big. I scrapped that and made this instead. [http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/izzet-lands-1/]
