Official Spoiler Thread.
Have at it.
I just remembered that the land lord that grants vigilance allows you to attack with animated lands before using them to cast spells MP2.
I have to say, if the cards we know about were the entire set, I would prefer it to BFZ.

Sifter of skulls looks great. Nantuko husk has a new friend! I wonder if we will get any new decent sac fodder cards though.
January 4, 2016 10:26 a.m.
I really like the possible synergy between Sifter of Skulls and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet! Sac a zombie/vampire, pump up your big vampire, and then get a scion token too! Kalitas will also make sure that Aristocrat decks won't be getting too out of control with this new Eldrazi.
January 4, 2016 10:30 a.m.
I'm liking the new counter, better version of Last Word will probably see some play
January 4, 2016 11:08 a.m.
Shall we discuss Gideon's oath into Gideon, ally of zendikar now? Seems pretty good. Not really that complicated to pull off. Doesn't really HAVE to happen in that way for either card to be good. In the same colors. Maybe there are just better three drops?

Oh my, the synergy between Oath of Gideon and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar is just oozing

AHHHHHHHHHHH!Oath of Gideon is amazing! You get 2 kor allies, and your planeswalkers come in with additional loyalty counters. You can use gideons final ability without killing him!
January 4, 2016 11:25 a.m.
The art on the new dual lands is soooooo amazing. :D
Too bad they are uncommon. And gates were common. :l

JWiley129 Yeah, which really sucks because it had potential, now I got to figure out what to do with my Deck
Crayfish These won't see play till after Khans and Fate rotate out; but everyone knew that anyway.

Now here's a good question: For a card like Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip, when it flips does Oath of Gideon give Jace, Telepath Unbound an extra loyalty counter; since it's technically enters the battlefield
January 4, 2016 11:36 a.m.
Or play Sorin then +1 him, and now they better kill him or he emblems next turn, which pretty much wins you the game (unless they are playing dash, of all things)
January 4, 2016 11:39 a.m.
IvoryFrost says... #20
AgentGreen well it says exile and then return to the battlefield, I assume that return is also the same as entering it, so yes?
January 4, 2016 11:41 a.m.
Agent green I would think yes because it says exile him then return him to the battlefield transformed.
January 4, 2016 11:41 a.m.
But I feel like the fact that these are legendary will prevent any competitive super friends build coming around
January 4, 2016 11:42 a.m.
I am starting to find that a lot of 4 drop Creatutes in Standard don't do much.
Unless they are Green.

I have a feeling that; from a storyline point of view; Chandra going to be very hard pressed to swear the Oath, because it is very unlike , let alone Chandra herself to be bounded by an oath. Wonder how the other three are going to convince her to take this oath. Also, I wonder if we're going to see a black Oath in the next set. 4 of the 5 colors doesn't make too much sense
January 4, 2016 11:56 a.m.
RedDiomedes says... #26
That is amazing! Turn 3 oath of Gideon. 2 1/1s. Turn 4 throw down Gideon. Ultimate Gideon. Attack with 0-2 2/2 depending on Gideon need for protection. Turn 5. Attack with at least 6/6 Gideon.
In regards to Chandra. My understanding is that red aligned people's and creatures believe in personal freedom. They can choose to swear oaths they believe in. They are simply unlikely to swear oaths that dominate them against their will. The difference between a Patriot serving his country faithfully and a soldier serving a dictator because of an oath of loyalty. Red often aligns with white. Borosilicate legion for example. They can be defenders of civilization.

Hazstig93 I have a theory on that (and I hope I'm wrong because that would be a stupid cliche)
WotC came out and basically said that Nissa, Gideon, Chandra, and Jace are known collectively as "The Gatewatch"; the multiverse's version of The Avengers. Well, a heroic group needs that "Thanos-like" villain, and Ob is likely going to fulfill that role. His Oath is likely going to be along the lines of destroying the Gatewatch and rule the multiverse; so if that's the case, his Oath card may be a anti-planeswalker card

Oath of Gideon is the first card aside from General Tazri that's come out of OGW that I felt warranted a spot in my 5-color Allies EDH deck. Lol
January 4, 2016 12:12 p.m.
canterlotguardian says... #29
Also RedDiomedes "Borosilicate legion"? That sounds oddly epic. Lmao
January 4, 2016 12:15 p.m.
That with reflector Mage. 3 mana to bounce a creature whenever you want

Wait didn't MaRo say there wouldn't be any white Eldrazi?
January 4, 2016 12:36 p.m.
TobyG Make it happen. Now.
Or I might. I mean, there has to be some really fun ETB effects in standard other than that and Arashin Cleric.
January 4, 2016 12:36 p.m.
Finally! I was so disappointed when I saw zero devoid/white eldrazi cards in the last set. Not only does it appear we're getting them, but this one is actually quite good!
January 4, 2016 12:45 p.m.
Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor says... #36
Well now...it makes more sense why Ulamog, Kozilek, Oblivion sower and the other top end eldrazi abilities are triggered upon casting...it's a shame cause Edrazi Displacer would've been super bonkers. Still, combining this with Eldrazi Mimic could be pretty fun.
January 4, 2016 12:59 p.m.
YAAAAASSSS!!!!!
INFINITE COMBOS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!! :DDD
WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!!!
Christmas came twice this year!
I'm ecstatic guys! SO DAMN EXCITED!

Jimmy_Chinchila says... #38
HA! in the face of everyone who said Eldrazi couldn't be white! Look at Blighted Steppe: they can consume white mana/land! They eat everything!
Sifter going straight to me Clan Nel Toth deck!
That dual land art is really nice, better than a lot of the Expedition art for sure...
Land lords looking good for Temur, got flying at 3 trample at 4 and vigilance at 5 drops. My turn 1 Lumbering Falls or Wandering Fumarole looking better already...and Rattleclaw Mystic!

I know this guy was already leaked but here's a better image
January 4, 2016 1:14 p.m.
AgentGreen - I hate to keep bringing bad news, but the cycle is confirmed to be 4 cards. Also, Red can totally take an oath of some kind. Red primarily wants freedom, and as long as it has freedom you have its attention.
January 4, 2016 1:21 p.m.
IvoryFrost says... #42
Maybe red will have upon entry deal 3 damage to target creature or player an then for her planeswalker effect...
not sure...
January 4, 2016 1:23 p.m.
RedDiomedes says... #43
I'd like to see Planeswalkers deal 1 damage to attacking creature for each loyalty counter they lose. No idea how to word that properly.
What's the 3 mana landlord that gives flying? Don't recall that one
January 4, 2016 1:31 p.m.
GoldGhost012 says... #44
It's Halimar Tidecaller, from BfZ. Slightly different from this new cycle.
January 4, 2016 1:51 p.m.
AgentGreen says... #45
JWiley129 Maybe not this set; and I understand why, (Ob would not consider The Gatewatch a threat; another villain underestimating the newly formed heroic team cliche, until it likely drives the Eldrazi off Zendikar; foiling his plan to destroy that plane)
Having said that; it looks like WoTC is leaving the door open for new planeswalkers to join up. So maybe in SOI we'll see perhaps someone like Liliana join up
January 4, 2016 2:24 p.m.
AgentGreen says... #46
Actually, now that I think about it.....I think storyline wise, we're overlooking a bigger baddie
Bolas
January 4, 2016 2:25 p.m.
canterlotguardian says... #48
That's because he isn't active in the story anymore. He was on Tarkir, but the only evidence we had of that is Crux of Fate and that one story about Sarkhan talking with Yasova.
January 4, 2016 2:42 p.m.
Note: all of the Oaths so far synergise with the relevant planeswalker's cards so long as they were printed Origins or later.
Gideon:
-Produces Kor tokens to trigger his flip.
-Makes him not die if he minuses for his emblem, and provides backup tokens.
Nissa:
-Gets you lands to flip Nissa, and mana fixes for the basic Forests which are the only lands she likes to tutor from the deck.
-Gets you creatures and lands for synergy with her latest card.
Jace:
-Fills the graveyard for flipping him or flashing things back.

None of the submitted cards have been accepted. I would appreciate it if everyone would hold off on adding cards at the moment because they would just override my own submissions when I do add them.
JWiley129 says... #1
AgentGreen - If you're looking for Processors I feel bad for you, son. OGW has 184 cards, but an Ingester ain't one.
So if I speak not in rap, BFZ was Ulamog's set and his mechanics were Ingest/Prowess. OGW is Kozilek's set and his mechanic is "colorless mana matters". That means we will see no Ingest/Process mechanics in OGW.
