Official Spoiler Thread.
Have at it.
I was trying to think of where that may see play.
The deck would have to be able to produce easily.
It would also need to make good use of large beaters. (Some decks just don't use that strategy)
Then it would need to get to 5+ mana consistently
Tron came to mind
/ Control shell, using Mystic Gate and Adarkar Wastes is possible.
Mono- Eldrazi possibly... though I haven't taken a good look at the deck yet.
I am going to be looking into a truly colorless Tron list soon... I think "Waste" lands have some good possibilities with Solemn Simulacrum and Sundering Titan... this definitely has potential for a deck list like that.

Uhhhh theres already a Bx control/midrange eldrazi deck.
Any midrange deck can easily reach that anyway. Same as a siege rhino - they swing 4 on turn 5. Here you swing 5 on T5. No life-swing but moer resistant to path etc.

The black eldrazi deck could drop it turn 3 off 2x Eldrazi Temple and any land or temple, eye, land.... there are many ways for that deck to abuse something like Reality Smasher which with a T2 Thought Knot is hitting for 9 T3

I was thinking G/W/C (C=colourless) exploiting the flicker and using him as a finisher. When you are in green its easy to produce colourless mana because of the amount of scion production you have. Of course I'm tempted to splash black as well but even with the Rhino still around it feels more consistent without black.
January 7, 2016 8:30 a.m.
I wonder if Standard may try to run it in 5C-Bring to Light?
If you mana base is off, you can still hard-cast it so long as you have and production.

...Sometimes I hate my Mind...
I now can't stop thinking about trying to design a creature-heavy (i.e: Ensnaring Bridge as sideboard only) 8-Rack. - Using Kolaghan's Command and Funeral Charm to force them to discard cards at instant speed, AFTER they cast a spell and triggering this effect, but before getting to discard to this effect... often effectively emptying their hand, and countering their spell.
Probably not a great idea... but I'll have to look into it.

Oh yeah, that could definitely work! In response to my trigger, discard your last card. :)

Crimson Wisps has a functional reprint. There might be a good URx prowess deck in modern that uses rituals to abuse those red cantrips that's waiting to be discovered.

This dying and discovering an Eternal Witness to bring this (or something better) back would be quite nice.
January 7, 2016 10:51 a.m.
Just a question about the haste card up there, expedite. Could you play this, then play crush of tentacles, get the surge, and then give the 8/8 haste?

beakedbard says... #18
I thought that was ETB as well imagine if it was with the flicker Eldrazi.

Eldrazi decks in particular get a really nice boost there. Wow. You don't even need to put the revealed card on the field if you don't want to, for whatever reason.
TobyG: No. You'd have to cast Crush of Tentacles in response to Expedite, and Crush is a sorcery. So that doesn't quite work. Also what Rayenous said.
January 7, 2016 11:05 a.m. Edited.
@TobyG - The 'Expidite' needs a target at the time you cast it. As the 'Crush' token would not be on the battlefield until after it's resolved, it would not be available as a target for 'Expedite'.

Matter Reshaper is just dangerous in a cheap aggro. Rever drone is really dangerous in devoid aggro. All Eldrazi arggo players will eat the one point of damage to get a 2/1 down and swing for the fences on T2

Good thing I picked up a job at college. I might not be able to stop myself from getting a box.
January 7, 2016 11:17 a.m.
Matter Reshaper is so weird. The card seems good, they gave it to Jacob Van Lunen for Pete's sake, but I just wonder how it'll play out.
Expedite is a solid card for Limited and Constructed. Not sure if it is good or not, but solid nonetheless.
Reaver Drone does help enable Colorless aggro. A curve of Reaver Drone -> Forerunner of Slaughter -> Vile Aggregate has to be nasty.

The curve for colourless eldrazi creatures is insane! I want to make a colourless deck so bad. Here is hoping for some more colourless instants!
CMC1 - Endless one
2 - Hangarback / Eldrazi mimmic
3 - matter reshaper
4 - thought knot seer
5 - Reality smasher / thought knot seer / Kozileks channeler
6 - Oblivion Sower / Conduit of ruin / Endbringer
10 - Ullamog / Kozilek

The green enchantment is good for EDH. In other formats you don't want to spend 7 mana on something that doesn't affect the boardstate.
But in EDH this will be very nice, especially since the draw ability triggers on cast and not ETB.
January 7, 2016 11:46 a.m.
Chandrian pair this with Shrieking Drake and you'll be able to draw cards as you bounce :D

AgentGreen says... #31
The Green enchantment Chandrian will find its way in Green Ramp, they'll be able to drop it quickly and apply it.
From a story arc perspective it looks like the Gatewatch will not only drive off the Eldrazi, but bare witness in Zendikar healing itself. It just has that "victory pose" feel to it

Only the expeditions printed as non-expeditions in a standard set will be standard. The Wooded Foothills for example is an expedition land but was also printed regularly in Khans (Wooded Foothills) so you could play that expedition in standard. Things like Eye of Ugin that was most recently printed in Modern Masters 2015 would not be standard legal

, for Expedite and Defiant Strike. - 8 1CMC cards in deck that can draw you a card for each creature you control.
Adding to it, Monastery Mentor, Titan's Strength and Temur Battle Rage, for some truly strong, explosive combinations.

Hey can someone explain to me why the new Nissa is good? She's pre selling higher than any other card
January 7, 2016 1:50 p.m.
Jimmy_Chinchila - Three mana planeswalkers have always, always, been good. Liliana of the Veil, Jace Beleren, Ajani, Caller of the Pride, Domri Rade, Dack Fayden, and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver have all seen Standard play (with the exception of Dack) and some see play in older formats. Especially Dack Fayden where he shines in Vintage. That said, 3-mana for a 'walker who 1) Protects herself, 2) impacts the board, and 3) wins the game if left unchecked is good.
January 7, 2016 1:54 p.m.
@Jimmy_Chinchila - You also might want to check out ChiefBell's Third Modern Moot article where he talks some about some of the early spoiled cards that could see potential outside of Standard, Nissa being one of them.

Jimmy_Chinchila Combine her -2 with hardened scales; you just gave your critters each 2 +1 +1 counters; and she still remains on the board. Need a creature to sac for your deck; Nissa can help along with From Beyond. So many combos with Nissa it's gross
If you see Nissa on your opponent's side of the board, make it a point to get rid of her ASAP
January 7, 2016 2:10 p.m.
Wow Zendikar Resurgent...worth every bit of it's precious 7 CMC.
January 7, 2016 2:11 p.m.
Yeah, really glad I got my Nissa's for $15 when they were first spoiled. I think she is going to be a bomb.

Just a heads up, the OGW cards will most likely not have their correct rarities implemented at the time of the set's release due to a potential to have the system mainly automated in the near future. Please remember to check Gatherer for card legalities.
January 7, 2016 3:33 p.m.
I can't believe how many great cards this set has. And I say this as a Modern player. The amount of (potentially) playable stuff in OGW is already larger than in BFZ and DTK combined.
January 7, 2016 4:07 p.m.
OGW is a pretty good set I must say. BUT JUST GIVE ME SOME GODDAMN BURN WOTC
