Official Spoiler Thread.
Have at it.
lol. Many of the cards in this set are actually pretty good.

All I know is most of those Support cards are about to make Inspired look like the cousin of Annihilator.

I was a little disappointed that ingest wasn't going to be brought back
But with all the new ways to feed the exile pile ingest isn't really needed anymore. Lots of ways to hurt your opponent and feed the exile pile

Kryzis, I added the first half yesterday and will be working on the second half today. It'll take me about 8-10 hours, plus however long it'll take for them to get accepted.

...so I took a quick look at Walls with 6 toughness, and nothing compares to "Wall of Resurgence".
Comparisons:
Fortified Rampart (Currently in Standard) - Add to the CMC and get a 3/3
Guardians of Meletis (currently in Standard) - Same CMC, but get a 3/3
Wall of Tanglecord - Add 1 CMC, lose the Reach option, get a 3/3
Hover Barrier - Same CMC, lose Flying, get a 3/3
Shield Sphere - not sure how to even...
Walking Wall - 1 less CMC, and get a 3/3 instead of having to pay to be able to attack for 3.
It's not often Walls are played in Standard, but this might just make the cut... Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper deck?... Assault Formation deck?

Oath of the Gatewatch is now confirmed as the best set in a while... It's like the complete opposite of BfZ. There's so many cards here that look like they were designed to be played in modern, maybe not (yet) in Tier 1 decks but still... And the set itself looks hellah crazy in limited.
To sum it up: good job WotC.

Grasp of darkness anyone? Compare to Flatten and Throttle, this card should definitely see play.
Natural state is good and the ogre free equip looks really fun.
January 8, 2016 2:53 p.m.
IMO, this is the best set since Khans, and Khans was the best set since Innistrad. So yeah, I'm very impressed.
I'm also relieved, to be honest.
January 8, 2016 2:58 p.m.
There are some pretty sweet commons and uncommons in the set, I'm happy about that. I can see this set being really fun in the limited environment. Pretty stoked for prerelease

On Wall of Resurgence(WoR), do you think it could be played in Modern? It is aggressively costed and gives you two creatures for the price of one, both of which pass the vanilla test and together blow it out of the water.

BFZ was a letdown; but when you combine it with what we see here it's actually very decent.
As a U/B devoid player I'm eager to inject these cards into my deck. Really hoping to score some Corrupted Crossroads
January 8, 2016 3:54 p.m.
When BFZ was spoiled I felt a bit confused as to how to assemble a decent Standard deck.
With OGW spoiled I've already put a deck together that I'm happy with.
Looking forward more to this pre-release than I was for BFZ.
It wasn't all bad, but this looks better.
An Artifact themed deck looks viable.
General Tazri has also inspired me to get off my bum and build my first EDH deck.

I was hoping that Inquisition of Kozilek would get a reprint. I'm sorta disappointed.

someguy5587 says... #18
i see that inquisition has now doubled in price (up to 30) for the tcgplayer mid...damn you non-reprint
January 8, 2016 5:06 p.m.
CanadianShinobi says... #19
It would be nice if Wizards offered more reprints in their Standard sets since it would help the other formats and bring in a larger player base.

someguy5587 says... #20
agreed, i suppose we did just have Thoughtseize in standard but for flavor alone Inquisition of Kozilek seemed like an auto include.

Darkmagi1131 says... #21
But they did give us Transgress the Mind which isn't as good but still flavorful. It does have epic art though.

It's not even like IoK would be too good. It doesn't hit Siege Rhino, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, Wingmate Roc, Utter End, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, and a ton of other stuff
January 8, 2016 5:38 p.m.
If they reprinted Inquisition of Kozilek I feel a lot of people would be pissed off.
A lot of players at my LGS are consistently mentioning how thankful they are that Thoughtseize finally left Standard (my Manager especially).
If they brought back the second worst one mana hand ripper almost immediately afterwards I feel like a lot of people would feel annoyed.

Well now I'm confident in buying a fat pack :)
I've seen good reviews from random websites to YouTube channels.

Two things. One, the new Jace is gross. Not as gross as Anakin Jace in origins, but still, at least to me, he's bleh. Second, why do people hate having a symbol for colorless mana. Or colorless basics? It isn't that bad. I know it will make colorless EDH decks easier for people with less money for Vesuvas and Ancient Tombs. My one complaint is them releasing it mid block, it is kind of strange.
January 8, 2016 6:07 p.m.
@Tacticsninja16782, there was an article on magic's website where they talk about that. They wanted to showcase creatures that required specifically colorless mana in Oath, (which means introducing a symbol to differentiate between colorless mana and generic mana), but they felt that making the change to the colorless symbol in the first set would take away from what was supposed to be showcased in the second set. It kind of takes away from what makes Oath unique as a set, if they were to introduce the new symbol before Oath was even spoiled. There's more to it than that but that was a part of it, and I wish I had more time to link the article but at least you have a starting point to look as it was fairly recent (maybe today I found the link in another thread) and should be easy to find.
January 8, 2016 6:32 p.m.
Unspoiled new Jace? What? Do you mean the Oaths? They wouldn't DARE release the last 2 planeswalkers we already saw in Origins, would they? Then again, they are 4/5 for how many of those guys came to Zendikar so......

Reason for no IoK reprint.

New jace art, sorry for not clarifying. I was referring to the art, not a card, and I see the confusion. And abenz419, thanks! I was wondering why they did that, and that makes a lot of sense. I'm not against the wastes, I was just curious.
January 8, 2016 7:30 p.m.
what the heck was that chatter about a new jace a little above this post? Kinda freakin me out.

Minelia5 I was complaining about the art for jace in this set, (not as a walker, but just in the set art stuff, you know what I mean) And I forgot to specify that I was not talking about some new card
January 8, 2016 11:04 p.m.
oh ok :D you were scaring me...I thought blue might become the best color in standard...noticably.
January 8, 2016 11:40 p.m.
I'm just excited to have gotten some decent vampires from this set so I can make a proper tribal deck for standard. I can't wait to see what plays better: Drana Vampire Allies or Kalitas Zombie/Vampire hybrid. I'm trying to plan long term for SoI too since both of those tribes should be even better then! Here's to hoping for a new Olivia to join the legendary vampire team!

Femme_Fatale correct me if im wrong but at this point in time, Warden of Geometries isnt in the list !

I've added them, they still have to be accepted first namezlezz.

I still don't think Nissa is very good. I'll include my reasons for this in a spoiler tag so that it doesn't clog up the page as much. I am also quoting a long post from JWiley129, so...

So Slip Through Time anyone? Exactly what R/U/x prowess needed an unblockable 1 cmc that draws as well I would of added it to mine without the draw but with the draw its just perfect.
January 9, 2016 7:31 a.m.
Nightdragon779 says... #43
Without the draw Distortion Strike or Artful Dodge would've worked too.

Unless you're talking about standard, then in that case, yes.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does "x" mean in context of; say, R/U/x
January 9, 2016 10:46 a.m.
I understand what you are saying about Nissa not beating terrific, but the correct shell, she could be great.
January 9, 2016 10:46 a.m.
RedDiomedes says... #49
I think the small X means it's a 3rd any colour splash. Very few cards specifically chosen to shore up a weakness.
January 9, 2016 11:04 a.m.
AgentGreen says... #50
I think with cards like Corrupted Crossroads that 3rd splash would be really easy to inject.
Really can't wait to make big changes to my ingest control deck; which is likely going to lose alot of ingest
