Have at it.

Oh, I see. The numbers will be there to say you can use any color, and the new symbol will be there specifically for colorless. Well depending on how prevalent this new mechanic is it might make some older lands much more useful.

Green_Ghost There are only 20 expeditions in Oath. So 10 filters, 5 tangos, and 5 unknown. Scar lands perhaps? I'd be okay with scar lands. Or the 5 enemy manlands. I'd rather have scar lands than those, though. Or they could do 10 filters, 10 manlands, and make every mtg player ever happy and say 'screw tangos'. No one likes tango expeditions. It's like pulling Comet Storm from MM2.
December 6, 2015 9:36 p.m.
GreenGhost says... #4
well they can't really effectively do the future sight lands now because of the filters being expeditions. That is unless they had a one of land like Cavern of Souls or something.
December 6, 2015 9:40 p.m.
GreenGhost says... #5
I'd totally be up for the fast lands from scars though.

Also, now we know that the<> symbol is not a new mechanic but an eternal form of mana. Not gonna explain cuz I'm going to sleep n- zzzzzzzzzzzz

Woah! So this means the theories that <> is replacing all things that tap for colorless is correct :o
December 6, 2015 9:50 p.m. Edited.
this also confirms that they pretty much have to reprint new rare lands that tap for colorless as long as oath is in standard. so either something new, or lots of painlands/filter reprints on the way!
also on another note... i really need a Kargan Dragonlord reprint. one of my favorite cards of all time... its bonkers. maybe a return of level up cards?
December 6, 2015 10:08 p.m.
I don't know what to think honestly with level ups it could go either way.

Wastes is an interesting concept. I don't think it will be in just this set, as the Eldrazi are reaching for the rest of the Multiverse. I mean, Emrakul's going to Innistrad, so I expect to see Wastes in future expansions past Shadow over Innistrad
December 6, 2015 10:41 p.m.
Wait Emrakul is going to inistrad?!?!? Where is your reasoning for this?
December 6, 2015 10:44 p.m.
The_Redpill says... #14
Expedition manlands? Inkmoth Nexus...
I just drooled all over myself...
December 6, 2015 10:46 p.m.
The_Redpill says... #15
Well I'm just assuming that Emrakul is going there because Shadow over Innistrad is the next set and we still haven't seen Emrakul
December 6, 2015 10:47 p.m.
Grantley91 says... #16
And then the name Shadow would make sense since having Emrakul over Innistrad would produce one big shadow...

LiveForChaos Oh I know, that is just my speculation and is what makes the most sense to me
December 6, 2015 10:51 p.m.
The_Redpill says... #18
Oh, and I didn't see that there were only two sets in the BFZ block, so I may be wrong
December 6, 2015 10:54 p.m.
ooh connections... but for real i dont think they wouldve gone that deep with those hint drops

I think that Kozilek will be in SOI as distortion is his forte.
December 7, 2015 5:39 a.m.
Grantley91 says... #21
Kozilek has already been "spoiled" for Oath though.
December 7, 2015 6:06 a.m.
bennybubbles says... #22
That doesn't mean that it won't be in SOI though.

New double lands

Also, unconfirmed, but this....
Mina and Denn, Wildborn 2RGLegendary Creature - Elf AllyYou may play an additional land during each of your turns.RG, Return a land you control to its owner's hand; Target creature gains trample until end of turn.4/4Flavor text roughly translates to: Mina and Denn are twins and the last of the Mul Daya tribe.
Apparently was leaked in Russian....

God damn it, Wizards. Why are you forcing me to brew up more EDH decks? I'm tortured enough the way it is... :P

I would like to think (and hope) that the waste type is a fixed and better-implimented form of "snow land". Snow lands were horrible. A lot of decent cards were gimped by having to deal with a disproportionate snow-land hate. As a result, nobody liked them. Not many even tried them....and at the time they were thought of by many to be a non-basic land type before the errata so you couldn't even run enough of the to make the difference they were meant to. Kozilek has <><> in his mana cost. If they arent classified as basic lands or not written into the rules in some way to exclude them from the 4 copies rule they will be utter trash. Forget about it at all if your 2hg team wants to run OotGW eldrazi together.
December 7, 2015 9:15 a.m.
So waste land (< >) is basically a way of saying "specifically colourless" whereas is a way of saying any colour can be used. So in essence it's made colourless a 6th colour, sort of.
December 7, 2015 9:17 a.m.
If they run a good base like they did with Mystic Gate here in most color combos, Waste's should not be a big deal for the most part.
Kozilek will be played lol
December 7, 2015 9:30 a.m. Edited.
Yea... We figured it out last night because they'll have filters and pains in standard so that should be more than enough for a Kozilek or two. And if not u can just play a couple wastes or mirror pools.
Koz will be a great finisher for control decks... Esper Koz meta incoming

Correst me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe filter lands are standard legal. That's an expedition, not a normal foil. These are NOT standard legal.
December 7, 2015 9:43 a.m.
Right but it'd make sense for them to print them in the actual set AND as expeditions because of the <> mana.
December 7, 2015 9:45 a.m.
wwhitegoldd There has been no full set list for Oath.... More then probable they will be included in the set.
December 7, 2015 9:46 a.m.
....not really. That's not a logical progression of thought. Doesn't make any sense at all.
It could happen but it would be very unusual for promo cards to also be set cards.
There are plenty of lands that tap for colourless. We don't NEED filters. Why are we making a big deal about this?
December 7, 2015 9:47 a.m.
Ashockfan Yeah I built my current Standard U/B control in preparation of Kozilek. He will certainly be playable, and he will be played alot. Most top tier control shells will have him as a 1 or 2of
December 7, 2015 9:48 a.m.
ChiefBell Seems strange they would have a land that produces Wastes, when Wastes are entering Standard, thats not Standard playable...
Thats where my thought process comes on Mystic Gate being part of Oath Core, along with other lands of the sort. Fetches go out, Filter/Wastes come in.
December 7, 2015 9:59 a.m.
Schuesseled says... #36
@ashock
As long as oath is in standard then wastes is legal in any numbers. So no they won't need to do that.
December 7, 2015 10:18 a.m.
Tectonic Edge produces colourless which can be written as wastes.
Ghost Quarter does too.
so does Inkmoth Nexus
and Blinkmoth Nexus
and Urza's Tower
and Urza's Mine

Oops. Didn't find it was posted already. x3 My bad.
December 7, 2015 12:37 p.m.
Yeah if Oath brings a few more landfall buff's that R/G landfall is gonna be serious. (Praying for Oracle of Mul Daya or even a Courser of Kruphix reprint of some form :P, I know, never happen)
Suddenly super happy I have 9 copies of Undergrowth Champion lol

Here's my predictions:
They will make the rule where a basic land without land types will produce <> and there will be cards that have some effect of the sort "target land loses all basic land types". Maybe even a mechanic about it, although I doubt it. I think it would fit flavorfully, but perhaps mechanically it still needs a little tweaking. I'd love to see something like:
Wasteland 2.0
T: Add <> to your mana pool.
T, sacrifice ~: Target land loses all basic land types.
Would be a cool interaction with color screwing people, since eternal formats play with duals mostly.
December 7, 2015 1:17 p.m.
Grantley91 says... #44
The Wastes is a basic land type though according to the spoilers.
December 7, 2015 1:29 p.m.
@Grantley91 Really and what type would that be???? LOL. Waste is a basic land but it has no type. Note, instead of Basic Land - Forest..... it just has Basic Land.
December 7, 2015 1:51 p.m.
It's not a type. I think it's literally just a way of writing 'only colourless'.
December 7, 2015 1:53 p.m.
Jimmy_Chinchila says... #47
Since Prairie Stream and the other battle lands were printed in the set and as an Expedition, I think we can assume Mystic Gate will be the same, so we should get five of them. Really hoping for more man lands too.
Mina and Denn look pretty cool, great brew-fodder. Getting excited!!
December 7, 2015 2:19 p.m.
Jimmy_Chinchila says... #48
Anyone else find it odd Americans and British spell words like color/colour differently? Lol, ChiefBell just made me think of that.
December 7, 2015 2:21 p.m.
But Jimmy_Chinchila, I'm not sure that logic holds. For example: yes the battle land were printed as Expeditions and also appeared in the set, but the same cannot be said of the Expedition fetch lands or shock lands... I don't think an expedition printing guarantees a reprint in the set by any means, and I think the appearance of <> on the expedition Mystic Gate is just indicative of the fact that this symbol represents specifically colorless mana (and will replace the on any future printings or reprintings of cards that tap for colorless.)
December 7, 2015 2:44 p.m.
TheNextRedDude says... #50
Jimmy_Chinchila Fetches and shocks were expeditions, but they weren't printed in BFZ. With two cycles of lands to complete, i think WOTC wants to at least finish the mainlands before reprinting filters.
Also, Americans hate the letter U.
Ej1997 says... #1
It would mean he takes to colorless specifically
