Gods are indestructible and require devotion seven, Archetypes look like interesting finishers, Tribute is Browbeat in creature form, and Inspiration is an untapping mechanic. Think we'll see more Hidden Strings type cards?

The new bob wanna be looks better than the average bob wanna be.

Did you see Pain Artist? It's a Dark Confidant that you have to untap to get stuff out of.

Now it makes sense why Springleaf Drum made it in, as an Inspired enabler. Inspired seems like a triggered untap ability.

Oh, and it looks like the Gods for BNG are Ephara (W/U), Phenax (U/B), Mogis (B/R), Xenagos (R/G), and Karametra (G/W). This means the enemy colored gods will be in Journey into Nyx.

Shall we start calling Pain Seer Bob the Bear? Bearbob? Bobbear?

Pain seer looks brute.

I knew Kruphix wouldn't be in until the last set. Even with the ability to see the future he'd see no need to interject. He'll only enter due to Xenagos' arrogance irritating him.

Archtype of Imagination is going to be ridiculously good in my Simic beat down deck.

GoldGhost012 - Bobby Bear, smarter than your average bear.

With the number of enchantments creatures and other oddities available through the inspiration mechanic cards like Tranquil Grove are going to have a field day.

Also loving the new Bob, definitely slotting into my Devotion deck.

Bobby bear feels like it can be in a tempo shell, with counter spells and bounce effects like Cyclonic Rift ,and Aqueous Form to make him unblockable and scry to keep loss at a minimum (wouldn't be end of world to keep land on top since you'll draw it and the next card), and like mentioned above he'll work good with the Springleaf Drum . Can't wait to see some more to get the brew factory started.

For those of you looking for preorders. Pain Artist sold out at $1.99 and is currently going for $2.99 on SCG.

Just saying, it seems unlikely that pain seer is going to actually be a good card, probably just another dollar rare. It's a house against control (esp. postboard against the mirror) but sucks against everything else.

I like how the minor-god devotion works in a way that you can still have enough devotion even by just running mono-colored.

Pain Seer already up to 4.99 on SCG , and had 32 copies left

With Pain seer spoiled, how crazy would it be to reprint Opposition ?

I have a question - what happens when both players have Archetype of Imagination on the field? I'm going to assume that the second aspect will overrule the first since you can't gain flying from the first aspect.

skanedog says... #20

The article states if you have both out then no one gets flying, that's consistent with the rules as "can't" effects always beat "can"

I've had second thoughts on Budget Bob, since it'll take two turns to draw your first card with it unless it's artificially tapped it's not worth it when other means exist.

I'm just curious as to how someone would play a minor god in mono colored decks when you have to have two colors to cast her inzane14

her casting cost is 2WU is it not?

January 13, 2014 7:06 a.m.

inzane14 says... #22

ShadowLand, splash. What I meant was she's still usable even with mostly one color of devotion such as 6 white and 1 blue. If I understood her rulings correctly, there's no minimum for each color of devotion as they act as a total.

January 13, 2014 7:27 a.m.

skanedog says... #23

The wording in the article is really bad, makes it quite unclear on a number of issues.

The card text would be better reading "if total Devotion to colour X / colour Y is 7 then blah"

As it's written it implies you need 7 of each.

YouGotFranked says... #24

ShadowLand I think what he meant is that it's still easy to reach her devotion in a monocolored deck since the minor god's devotion can be met with mana symbol of either colors.

January 13, 2014 8:45 a.m.

ShadowLand says... #25

Ah, yes, completely true. I was just thinking he meant mono as in only one source of mana from a specific color.
