For the sake of it. I hope this pleases you guys :

  • Junk > Mid-range deck. Core Green with Black backup, small splash white. Known to play identically to Jund. Also plays Re-animator style decks on occasion.

  • Abzan > Control Deck. Core white with black backup and smaller splash green.

  • "Patriot (insert country Name Here)" > Core Blue with equal Red/White backup. Mid-range or Control deck that normally wishes to grind out a win using effective counter-spells and burn disruption to wear down the opponent then either combo finish or man-land to death the opponent.

  • Jeskai > Aggro to Mid-range deck focusing more on efficient creatures than spells. Core Blue with higher reliance on red then a white splash.

  • BUG > Similar to junk but more Tempo decks play this. The core is either Blue or Black with green playing support. Higher reliance on counter-spells as disruption instead of removal.

  • Sultai > Core black with green secondary, blue playing support. The idea is to recycle creatures. Huge on re animation.

  • Dega > Core white with black backup splash red. A mid-range to control deck with focus on having an answer to every threat then following with it's own unstoppable threat through super efficient creatures/spells. Wishes to grind the opponent down.

  • Mardu > Core Red with white backup black splash. A fast paced aggro deck relying on hitting you to death as fast as possible with little to no regard for it's own life total.

  • RUG > Core Blue, Green support with Red Splash. Most known for tempo or combo decks. This style normally involves using blue control then finishing with either combo or large creatures.

  • Temur > Strictly Mid-range. Core Green with Red support, Blue splash. This deck wishes to lay down smaller creatures, protect and ramp into the largest ones you can find. It plays a "Who's big guy is bigger" race.

There is a reason for this thread to be in Spec. I might be wrong about a few things but I think this will help those distinguish their deck. Identify by the play style, not the color!

Nah. The colours will catch on. People need to stop being so stubborn.

Yeah, it's just a matter of time.

It's also really hard to nail down play-style of the three color decks because the options are huge. There are the most common ones for sure, but that doesn't mean every GBx deck will play the same...for example.

this is true. I went for the most common in competitive play for reference. I figured all others would lean to one direction or the other.

Jeskai I think will play much more like storm or control. Drop an elder, play a bunch of cheap burn and draw spells, throw down an aura or two. Not very creature based, unlike Temur or Mardu.

Based on their mechanic, it seems very creature based. Of course we've got a little while.

It should be noted that there are more than two play styles for each wedge combination. I'm pretty sure the clan names will catch on.

The clan names should catch on pretty quickly.

As for their game style, I think we'll need to wait and see how it actually plays out. Mardu and Temur are pretty defined, but the other three all seem capable of emerging as the control build for the next standard. Jeskai is the most natural color scheme; Sultai has a strong controlling base from Theros/M15; and Abzan is supposedly the most controlling of the clans.

shrug It's all speculation. I tend to just fixate on something until i say it so i did my best to say it. There was such a freakout about the names i gave it some thought. I do really think the clans might end up playing a little differently than the colors normally do though.
