Origins Speculation Thread

Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation forum

I was wondering about some points:

  1. The five homeplanes wil be associated to the M15's Souls. Look that Nissa is from Zendikar(Soul of Zendikar in green), Gideon was confirmed to be from Theros(Soul of Theros in White). We have old speculation saying that Jace born in Ravnica and Lilliana in Innistrad(Soul of Ravnica in Blue and Soul of Innistrad in Black). Thinking that way, Chandra can be from Shandalar.

  2. All five legendary walkers will be 3cmc or less(they'll be just skinny kids before asceding, make sense a lower cost). This way they'll have more chance to fit in competitive formats like Standard and Modern. The another reason it's the Tiny Leaders thing. Wizards like to estimulate these formats, and will be cool to have five new commanders/walkers in both normal EDH and Tiny. Seems fair to me.

  3. Origins its about Planeswalkers as Tarkir is about Dragons? We use to have in a set 15 mythics, being; 5 Legends; 5 Planeswalkers; and five another cards for each color. The two sided cards will be both legend and walker, so we'll have more five Legends or more five one sided Planeswalkers? These PWs can be the first walker our heroes met, like Ajani and Sarkhan in Jund.

What's your opinion?

Honestly, the last part of 2 really doesn't make sense. Magic Origins was probably devolped many years beforehand. So unless I'm mistaken and Tiny Leaders is older than I think it is, Tiny leaders wouldn't have been around when the 3 cmc or less walkers idea was put forth

Wizards said in the release that they knew very little about tiny leaders, and haven't designed anything for the format yet. They also said they wouldn't do that until it became more popular.

Also origins is already completely finished in design. WOTC finishes design long before the set actually comes out. Origins was probably finished before tiny leaders ever became a thing.

Also, we know that Chandra is from Shandalar. Where was it confirmed that Gideon is from Theros? The point of Origins is to show where the walkers are from and give us confirmation on that.

And to point out, while the souls theory may be correct, Jace's and liliana's home planes are merely speculation at this point. It would make sense to me though

mathimus55, Gideon was confirmed to have Theros as a home plane at the PAX East panel.

Jace and Liliana are almost certainly not originally from Ravnica and Innistrad, unless they want to throw out a bit of canonity from the novel Agents of Artifice. We just don't know where they're from.

I'm calling lili as dominaria. It would give wizards a good way to reprint the second half of the pain-lands because they have location-specific names.

I hope Jace is from a plane we've never seen before. I just think it would be cool/interesting. maybe something that will be in an upcoming story.

Also where do you guys thing their first jumps were all to?

I've always thought/hoped that jace is Jhoira and Jodahs kid ;-) that would make dominaria his home world

Also we know that we have never seen Chandra's home plane. So that puts Shandalar out of the running for Chandra's home plane.

I don't know lore older than alara, so jace being dominaria would be cool too. I want someone to be dominaria.

Come to think of it, didn't Gideon himself say he was born "on a world long since destroyed"? Perhaps this implies Theros will be destroyed in his origin? Unless the story of DoP has its own canon, that is

Tom2401 - I will direct you to this post by Doug Beyer about that exact thing.

Short version, Theros is still fine, that wasn't canon.

Yeah, pretty much everything about Gideon's origins in The Purifying Fire and DOTP was retconned to fit Theros.

JWiley129 Ah, thank you for the clarification

look at JaoJuanitos screen shot, then at the flavor text of Desperate Stand, then at this uncharted realms. Seem's like Gideon's made a name for himself.
