When will we see this card spoiled for more than the artwork and CMC?

Rayenous says... #2

I was expecting to to be this past Friday, as there was one God per day until then... no idea why they are delaying it.

My guess... it either sucks so bad... or rocks so great... that they didn't want to spoil it too close to the others.

I'm hoping that it rocks for Standard... but if Dimir cards of the recent past are any hint, it's probably going to suck (compared to the comparable cards of the cycles).

I am hoping for a continuous mill or something similar to what Duskmantle Guildmage does. It is possible we will see some type of hand denial. Speculation on my part does me no good as someone pointed out in one of my other posts. Cant blame a mill fan for being hopeful though,.

I really don't think it's going to be mill. That would go against pretty much everything that blue and black has stood for in theros so far.

I'm feeling something with library/hand Exile. I'm expecting him to carry a fat mana cost, too.

Probably 5UB

10000000UUUBBB

He's gonna be a colored Gleemax

Quadsimotto says... #8

Well crap.. I hope it is not a completely un playable card in standard.

January 20, 2014 3:04 p.m.

Rayenous says... #9

I'm hoping for something like... "At the beginning of each opponent's end step, that player discard their hand and draws that many cards minus 1."

Card disadvantage, off-set by draw... thus they have to keep 2+ cards in hand in order to keep any... but if they kept 2+ cards, they may get better card(s) in their draw.

Pseudo-mills, prevents strategy, and works well with things like Fate Unraveler , and Notion Thief .

I'm sure that it won't be anything like this, with Spirit of the Labyrinth working too well with it, and being in the same set...

In general, probably too broken. But here's hoping.

Rayenous Every one would just cry for days unless you are playing it, that card would be so insanely overpowered. Even if he read something like "Each opponent discards a card at the beginning of their upkeep" that would still be debatably too strong although...I'd love to see it. He'd wreck EDH and standard alike.

January 20, 2014 3:58 p.m.

Quadsimotto says... #11

BB pay two life target player discards a card at random? That would not be over powered. in fact i do not think i would use him at all. But that is just my personal preference.

January 20, 2014 4:05 p.m.

Rayenous says... #12

Whispering Madness thinks it's not too far from a card that could be created... but you're right, it would be a little too powerful. Perhaps without the "minus 1"... and maybe not even a discard, but put them on the bottom of the Library, or shuffle them into the Library (though that much shuffling would be annoying).

Then have him be 5 or 6 mana, and a mere 5/5 body (tiny compared to the other Gods)

Jay says... #13

I feel like he'll have to be big. Leviathans and Demons are both pretty big, and they're U & B's usual fatties.

January 20, 2014 4:21 p.m.

At the beginning of each opponents upkeep that player exiles the top 2 cards of his or her library.

Phenax, God of scry Screwing.

January 20, 2014 4:28 p.m.

Quadsimotto says... #15

Most likely fat in the ass like say Nemesis of Reason 3/7 ish. Not that it matters being indestructible and all.Should be able to get right around multiple copies of Drown in Sorrow being played with no problems though... What is he going to be the god of? Heard any rumors on that?

KingSorin says... #16

Whenever your opponent casts a spell, counter that spell unless it's controller pays 2 or sacrifices a creature.

January 20, 2014 5:06 p.m.

RussischerZar says... #17

I'm highly guessing that it will have to do something with card draw and/or life loss or possibly creature deaths.

E.g. each upkeep if your opponent lost 2 or more life last turn, draw a card. Or each upkeep if at least one creature your opponent controlled died last turn, draw a card.

Phenax, god of hanky combos:

4cmc, dev=7 4/5

Players play with their library revealed

1(u/b): Draw a card from target opponents library, opponent draws a card from your library. Cards drawn this way can be played with mana of any color. Players then shuffle their libraries.

Phenax, god of spikes

5cmc, dev7, 5/4

At the beginning of each upkeep you draw a card unless an opponent sacrifices a creature. Creature cards drawn in this manner have flash and devotion to UB 7.

I remember reading Mark Rosewater's tumblr blog a week ago and someone asked if he would spoil a card on tumblr and he pretty much said "It will be spoiled on all my social media sites at the same time, and the rest agreed to let me spoil the best deceitful character for last."

is pretty much what he said. I don't know if he is pointing at phenax or anything but that's basically what he said.

CW says... #20

Its going to be a mill god, I heard somwhere that the dual-colored gods were gonna relate to the guild mechanics, karametra being able to get land every time you populate, ephara sticking to the uw tempo that never landed in constructed, mogis either burns the opponent or kills blockers 2 things rakdos is built upon, and xenagos pumps attackers, phenax probably mills till land when a creature enters under your control, or each opponent losses 1 life for every milled card, cant wait to see keranos.

January 20, 2014 7:21 p.m.

Jay says... #21

CW populating doesn't give you a land :/

January 20, 2014 8:52 p.m.

CW says... #22

Jp3ngu1nb0y populate usually happens at instant speed, karametra grabs the land since a creature enters

4/7

"Creatures you control have "T: Target player puts the top X cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard, where X is this creature's toughness."

So it is mill... could be playable in a few decks.

Works well with "Inspired" as well.

Not as good as I hoped.

Really was hoping it wasn't mill.

Win-con for a UBG defender deck...?

I'm not taking to this God as mush as I would have liked.

ljs54321 says... #29

Sounds like it could be played in kitchen-table games as a follow up to Traumatize . With all your creatures gaining the ability, you could go through the 2nd half of their library a little quicker than just having to rely on casting mill spells. Hell, it can flip 7 cards per turn on its own. I don't feel it will see much, if any, competitive play though.

Seems like it could possibly be good combined with Ashiok stealing your opponents creatures then doing this it seems like it could be fun i was hoping for something along the lines of a discard/draw ability though. :/

RussischerZar says... #33

hum, BUG defender mill could become a thing with this

Doorkeeper , Axebane Guardian , Sylvan Caryatid , Wall of Frost , Hover Barrier , Murmuring Phantasm , Returned Phalanx , Trestle Troll ... could be some nice choices for that.

add Jace, Architect of Thought and thats game very fast.

lol, maybe also add lots of gates, Gatecreeper Vine and Hold the Gates haha

lol, I obviously meant Jace, Memory Adept .

Also forgot to mention the most important part in the BUG defender deck: Prophet of Kruphix !

January 21, 2014 6:11 a.m.

Schuesseled says... #37

Want it for my UB self mill, I get the world's best blocker and a way to quickly dump 7+ cards a turn

January 21, 2014 6:12 a.m.

Korombos says... #38

@ RussischerZar Yeah, if I wind up drawing him from my box, he'll go right into my casual Wight of Precinct Six deck.

Quadsimotto says... #39

Thank you!!! That is beautiful. Talk about making your Consuming Aberration a one shot milling machine.
