At first look I said to this "HOLY CRAP I'M MAKING CENTAUR TRIBAL HAPPEN."
Now that I've had some time to think, readjust and put some thought into it, all I can say is "HOLY CRAP I'M MAKING CENTAUR TRIBAL HAPPEN."
Between Swordwise Centaur , Courser of Kruphix and Nylea's Disciple you already have a really sweet curve-out for this guy to be played. Not to mention they all work well with the disciple due to high devotion count. I currently run a simic aggro deck and I tried out the base of that which contains things such as Cyclonic Rift , Simic Charm and Boon Satyr , along with a readjustment of mana to accomodate the new City of Brass and Mutavault for extra synergy, and the deck actually felt really good. I'm not saying it's tier one, but I think I'll be playing it.
Thoughts?
Because I'd like to stay simic, I disregarded both Centaur Healer and Fanatic of Xenagos . Now Fated Intervention ...That could be quite nice actually....
I'll need to do more goldfishing really quick, but I do really like that in there.

This is really cool actually and has a ton of potential. Also likely to be on the budget side, which is always a plus. I'll toy around but it's gonna take a lot to take me off the splash-black aggro style. Currently thinking of shifting to mono black aggro.

Does anyone think Centaur Battlemaster might actually be halfway decent in tribal centaurs?

thePESSIMIST no because of how much he costs. would you rather drop one of those or potentially two Courser of Kruphix ?

I think heroic as a whole requires a tad too much investment. I'd rather diversify my threats. Also, he has less synergy then I'd want with the rest of his tribe. When I think of a 5-mana 3-power creature worth playing my thoughts instantly jump to something like Archangel of Thune and Centaur Battlemaster just doesn't come anywhere near that level of power.

Going off of the build I have right now, thePESSIMIST, I'd say no. Unless you're building a heroic deck to utilize his ability (which I'm not) he's just straight-up bad. Once you get past a hopeful curve-out of Elvish Mystic /Experiment One > Swordwise Centaur > Courser of Kruphix /Nylea's Disciple > This guy, you really just need a way to finish out the job, i feel. Especially if you had a Mutavault or two doing work in there. In my build, I still have Prime Speaker Zegana to refuel. Boon Satyr is also in there for added pressure in the early game or for late game extra damage. I also have 2 Fated Intervention for an instant-speed trick of sorts or just for the last bit of surprise pressure I'd need. And then I also have my normal playset of Cyclonic Rift , and split of Simic Charm and Rapid Hybridization . And that feels really smooth to me.
This may not be the ideal build but holy crap does it feel nice.

Although I know you mnetioned you wanted to stay Simic I figured I'd drop in and mention good old Call of the Conclave .

@Spootyone: That honestly sounds like a really cool deck. You'll have to test it against the GR version I'm thinking up. Assuming I ever get stable Internet again for Cockatrice.

Dritz: Oooo...good point. I'll have to make up a mock of selesnya centaurs too and run them both to see which is better. The only reason I'm apt to stick to simic is because of the mid to late game reach I get through tempo removal in Cyclonic Rift and Simic Charm . Those would be a hard thing to pass up with how often they win me the game.

Pheres-Band Raiders would only bad bad since they can't tap easily due to the vigilance I'd be giving them

I think G/W is a good way to go, because you then have access to a populate build, which is interesting to look into and is what I'm working on

White for things like Call of the Conclave and utility spells like Selesnya Charm , Last Breath , etc. Red for walkers like Domri Rade and utility in the forms of Mizzium Mortars . You also get access to Fanatic of Xenagos . Blue gives you card draw and bounces.
I'm actually with spooty here surprisingly. After looking at a GW alternative for a bit, I find it hard to justify not trying to include Cyclonic Rift . It's just a fantastic game-ending card vs most creature-based decks and with devotion and slight ramp hitting the required 7 mana isn't as hard as it seems.

In combo with Call of the Conclave and Fated Intervention . Druid's Deliverance and Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage . Oh, guys better look at my Alphacentaurs. :) I plan to put him in place of the Enchantments Primal Rage and Intangible Virtue . :) He'll be awesome addition.
