Thoughts?

I think this could see some sort of Standard play. Especially with all the goodies white is getting.

Hero of Iroas says this is playable in a more stable variant of Voltron.

Waayyy too expensive, but great in limited.

Suddenly I'm very glad I play control, cause I will be countering the shit out of this card.

July 3, 2014 9:18 a.m.

This will see standard play I think. With multiple Hero of Iroas , this won't be hard to cast. Mono white got another fun card to mess with.

Another toy for the "you cannot interact with my deck, idiot"-collection. Great card design.

It's not bad as a finisher on an aura deck, except it's likely too heavy to be used competitively

July 3, 2014 10:05 a.m.

I want a foil one. That must look amazing.

Schuesseled says... #10

Wont remove auras. Will prevent further auras being attached.

Bellock86 says... #11

Right. I read it the same way you did Schuesseled

And then I have to worry about opening THIS in a pack.

Damnit.

@zandl.... that's about what I think of the card as well.

Auras... liable to be 2-for-1'd. - People are assuming this won't happen due to it's ability, but it is still going to happen. (Board wipes, forced sac, Heavy artifact meta incoming... etc.)

5CMC... should have an effect on board state, or a strong board presence. - People are assuming it has a strong board presence, but it is reliant on what you already have in play, and doesn't strengthen it that much.

This particular card... only playable in an Aura heavy theme deck... but it prevents you from attaching more auras or pumping further so the same deck it is designed to play well prevents it from working to it's fullest.

EDH may see some play with it, for things that allow you to "cheat" Auras into play (Sun Titan , Bruna, Light of Alabaster , etc...), but that's about the only place for it.

You still open packs? Nub.

But srsly, this thing is just ok. I mean, how much play did Holy Mantle see? This is only a slightly better version, so I only expect it to see slightly more play.

Might make bogles a nightmare though.... Oh wait, I play with Wurmcoil Engine . lol, nevermind.

trentfaris242 says... #16

The only reason I think this will see play is because Hero of Iroas has had aura decks on the verge of becoming viable for some time now.

I will play this in standard in MONO white. It makes for a nice win con. Sure its pricey but so is Dictate of Heliod . I do have some questions though. It doesnt remove any auras on it already but it will keep it from being targeted with future ones is that correct? If so thats pretty nice with only a minor drawback. It would be your icing on the cake that is your killer.

They should have re-printed Flickering Ward instead.

Seems good for limited. There are ways to tutor it.

darthfrog says... #20

@GoldGhost012 - Why would you counter that? Let them play it, keep your counter, then clear the board with Supreme Verdict :-)

trentfaris242 says... #21

Are we really doing this again? Every single spoiler.

July 3, 2014 1:35 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #22

@Quadsimotto pretty big drawback if you only top deck auras afterwards. It can be a great finisher....for you or your opponent.

July 3, 2014 2:02 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #23

@Schuesseled I kind of agree with you but at the same time it can really only be dealt with by a board wipe or massive artifact. I'm just thinking like a Brimaz with this on it would be so difficult to deal with. Especially in an aura deck that could already have Indestructibility on him.

Probably only good as a 2-of.

July 3, 2014 2:06 p.m.

Quadsimotto says... #24

I wont run it in a aura heavy deck. I would run in it more in a bestow heroic MONO white setting. At least with bestow you can still slap that little bugger down as a body. When i see this card i think of fabled hero or eidolon of countless battles . If there is no board wipe coming or they don't have a fat artifact (Damn you! Ensoul Artifact) its about to get tough for the other player.

They should've reprinted Flickerform

GoldGhost012 says... #26

darthfrog, you're under the assumption I play Supreme Verdict .

July 3, 2014 2:42 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #27

Hey, zandl. See what i mean about every spoiler thread mentioning Supreme Verdict dealing with X card? Fun little aside :P

July 3, 2014 3:22 p.m.

zandl says... #28

Your point?

This card is bad even before someone casts a Verdict.

July 3, 2014 5:15 p.m.

sylvannos says... #29

The deck this card wants to go in is one that would already play things with hexproof. Narrow use in Standard, unplayble outside of Standard, and only decent in Limited.

This will be a 50 cent rare :|
