Sarkhan & Sorin are the ONLY planeswalkers in KTK

Confirmed here by MaRo that KTK has only 2 planeswalkers, and we've seen them both. What're everyone's thoughts on this?

Interesting. Most large sets have 3, and we may have as many as 6 Planeswalkers in the block; one for each color, and a colorless Ugin.

Then again they might be lying, since Maro has said before that fetches would not be in Khans but here they are. lol
August 31, 2014 6:54 p.m.
WovenNebula - Most people were asking for Zendikar fetches, not Onslaught ones. So Maro wasn't lying, also he makes a point not to lie to us. He'll be tricky, but not outright lie.

@JWiley129 Maro said a little over 2 months ago that Fetches wouldn't be at least for another year, it was non-specific to Zendikar or Onslaught. I see that as a lie, let me find the link. Anyways though I know usually its in form of riddles or very vague but this wasn't so much.

@JWiley129 Im having a pain in the a** time looking for original posts by Maro, so maybe it was like a game of phone, so and so said this and it became convoluted, and i just read what they said. Old timers kicking maybe....

@WovenNebula I seem to remember him saying that too, and I've been reading his blog for a little less than a year now. I don't remember the phrasing, so maybe there was some word play or other such mischief going on :)
And remember guys, the last L-S-L block we had (Innistrad block) had 2 planeswalkers for each large set, and 1 planeswalker in the small set.

There are usually five walkers per block. with the trend thus far having been in a large-small-large setup there being 2-1-2. Theros and Scars being Large-Small-Small had a walker distribution of 3-1-1. Alara was a weird outlier that had four walkers in the first set, one in the second and none in the last.
Zendikar block was the only real exception to the 5 walkers per block trend, having 6 for no real good reason
Did you guys dedicate threads to the revelation that the RTR set would only have Jace, Architect of Thought and Vraska the Unseen ? This really isn't that strange to get two walkers this set. We'll undoubtedly get more in Fates Reforged and "Louie"

BlastercoolWeird - It's still something to tell people who ask if we'll get X planeswalker in KTK. While Ugin is a likely planeswalker to get, we now know (for multiple reasons) that he won't show up here. It's not the most groundbreaking news, obviously, but it's important to let people know that.

yeah but people probably could have figured this out from foreknowledge that Tarkir block is Large-Small-Large and judged the number of planeswalkers from past trends.
August 31, 2014 9:24 p.m.
BlastercoolWeird - And some people aren't smart enough to connect the dots. More information available is better for everyone, and we don't get any posts about what the other planeswalkers in KTK could be. No need to be elitist about this.

elitist how? it's a simple pattern that can be worked out by cracking open gatherer's page for planeswalkers or just thinking back to previous blocks. People could just not care about that sort of thing, but I really doubt there's people who "aren't smart enough" to work that out, it's a simple question of "well how many walkers did they put in previous sets? I'll go see on gatherer"
posting this is speculation asking people's thoughts on it made it seems like the fact there Sorin and Sarkhan were the only walkers in KTK was something weird or abnormal.

I think there should be a new Liliana too. There s is part of the veil curse story that says Sarkhan was following hr through the realm's gaining power from the chain veil. Maybe Sarkhan holds the key to Garruks affliction

Again it could be another Chandra remember it was her who used a ghost flame fighting against Sarkhan while he was in a full dragon from aka his new +1.

I think the Lithomancer will be the planeswalker in Fates Reforged and that Bolas and Ugin will be the two planeswalkers in "Louie". The main reason I believe the Lithomancer will be in the second set is because of the word's definition. A lithomancer in someone who divines the future using stones. You can see why such a person would be an important character in a set called Fates Reforged.

I just want them to make a badass chandra for once and not half ass her
September 15, 2014 7:54 a.m.
OrionxWatts - And Chandra, Pyromaster isn't? She sees Modern play, I'm pretty sure that qualifies as bad ass :).
The only PW I feel like is a lock for this block is Ugin, and I have a feeling he'll show up in Fate Reforged and we'll get 2 other planeswalkers for "Louie"
September 15, 2014 8:49 a.m.
That is an excellent point PancakesOnSalsa. I've never thought about that. How long has it been since the imprisonment of the eldrazi?
September 15, 2014 9:11 p.m.
But if Sarkhan goes back in time to save Ugin wouldn't Bolas have to be in the same set?
September 15, 2014 9:13 p.m.
There's no guarantee that Bolas will show up. While Bolas showing up wouldn't be out of the ordinary, that would give us a different breakdown. Like if Bolas shows up in FRF, then we could get Ugin & someone else in "Louie"
But I'm going to wait and see like all of us. And for what it's worth, I don't think we'll see the Lithomancer for at LEAST for a few more blocks.
September 15, 2014 9:25 p.m.
I just think it would make the most sense that Bolas and Ugin are in the same set (if they are in the block at all)seeing as Sarkhan is going back in time (with sorin?) To save Ugin from being killed by Bolas. The only reason I could really see the lithomancer in this block at all would be so wizards didn't have to make a whole block trying to find the lithomancer (although now that they are doing two blocks a year they can find him twice as fast). All of this is speculation. We could just as easily see tamyo, vraska and koth in the coming sets
September 15, 2014 9:50 p.m.
Wait a minute. If Sarkhan and friends stop Bolas from killing Ugin wouldn't that prevent Bolas from discovering the Eye of Ugin and releasing the eldrazi? Or does time travel only affect the plane you are on? No wizards wouldn't mess us up that much would they? No they've been building up return to Zendikar/eldrazi for too long to destroy it by making a stupid mistake. Or maybe it's deliberate? Maybe I should shut up and wait for them to release Fate Reforged and Louie?
September 16, 2014 9:16 p.m.
Welcome to time-travel stories. Stay for the dessert, come back for breakfast :)
September 16, 2014 9:18 p.m.
GoldGhost012 says... #28
Based on past time travel experiences in MTG, time travel only affects the time stream of the plane you are on, and when you change the timeline, a new time stream splits off, creating a new future.
I may be wrong though, so feel free to check my work.

To many possibilities. To many different outcomes. It hurts my head to think about it.

I was never big into planes walkers since their introduction. Besides that it just leaves more room for more goodies or even more reprints to come. (I do like the planes walkers that have shown though) Just means I have to be patient for the next set for Khans to come around and see what else that may come, c'mon new Nicol Bolas!!
