What do you guys think of this card? I think it could be a very valuable card in burn-based RDW decks. I get that it's easy to remove, but look at it this way: it turns Lightning Bolt into Searing Blaze and Searing Blaze into the most ridiculous thing that ever existed (brain explodes at concept of 9 damage for 2 mana). Boros Charm becomes removal, Skullcrack becomes removal, Lava Spike becomes removal. For that reason(s), I think the card will see play in not only Standard, but also some Modern decks. What do you guys think?

It's an absolutely brilliant sideboard card for red, though.

I preordered 8 (4 for myself and 4 to sell if he goes up). My wife has a pretty nasty modern burn deck and as you said, it offers a lot of flexibility. In mono R burn we are taught to choose between to the face or to the creatures, The satyr eliminates this choice. An interesting tidbit is, if you kill the blockers with his burn, you can swing in with him, he removes his own blockers.

I think it will have limited use in Standard because a body that small is really unfortunate, but in Modern where we can load up on cheap burn I think he'll prove very useful. Not to mention having multiple in play i-i

I had the same thought about multiples Jp3ngu1nb0y in bed around 10pm, my eyes flew open like "WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL."
One thing I'd like to see paired with Satyr Firedancer in modern is Browbeat . Do you take the 5+5 to a creature? Or do you let me draw?

It's great punishment for people who try to play greedy or make huge misplays. MBD, turn 2's Pack Rat and then turn 3 Nightveil Specter . You've got this guy and Searing Blood . You kill both creatures and do 3 damage to them. Even if they made the extra Rat instead of the Specter, they both die. Red has always had a problem with deciding whether their burn spells would help maintain burn spells or if they would go straight to the face, but now they don't have to choose.
Burn has been such a fragile strategy, but this guy just makes it so worth it. Warleader's Helix and Lightning Helix both get a lot of value, there are just some many new options that this card could open up. The thing is is that he himself is a very fragile creature who dies to literally any type of removal. I know the whole "die to Doom Blade " argument is annoying, really it is, but if you try to build around this guy, you will commonly find yourself in trouble.
He's a great card though and shouldn't be taken lightly. Running him with Chandra's Phoenix and just a handful of burn could be a thing, maybe not the most powerful thing, but it might be reasonable to see it.

Nuh uh golffore297! He doesn't die to artifact removal! :P
I agree that building around him is a bad idea, my wife and I were going to slot him over Grim Lavamancer just because he's kinda slow and multiples are bad for business. (That and most of the time I see the lavamancers being used for creature removal anyways) What do you think about that strategy?

This is a link to all of the R/W burn in standard right now. I used R/W because of Boros Charm and Warleader's Helix .

He's certainly better than Grim Lavamancer in most aspects, although you could certainly run both and try to maximize the value from your burn spells. Modern has plenty of burn spells that just make both of them insane. T1 Grim Lavamancer , T2 Satyr Firedancer , T3 Pick 2/3: Lightning Bolt , Lava Spike , Lightning Helix , Skullcrack , etc. Modern burn has been trying to work for a while but has never had the push to get there, will this guy help? It's hard to really tell, so we will just have to wait and see.

I've been blown away by this guy since I first saw him. I think the implications for Modern are huge but you're right; Don't build around him because his fragility will burn you...
Annnyway, I hope to get a few of these and see where I can slot them in.

MindAblaze! I seriously hope that Satyr Firedancer + Clan Defiance becomes a thing. I have a playset of Clan Defiance that I never wanted, and it may finally become vaguely tradeable if it has a use.

Clan Defiance seems nasty.

I can't speak for Modern, but this could work in Standard. I may even build a deck around him if I get enough at the pre-release.
The major issue in Standard is that it only really works well against midrange and aggro decks. I don't see much use out of this guy against Esper Control, and that is a significant part of the format right now.
