Flexible and a 4/4 for 3 is always worth thinking about. Even though I don't see a way to cheat it out T2, I think this will see play.

T1: Yavimaya Coast Elvish Mystic T2: Mountain and this guy

It has evasion and pumps, is big for its CMC and can get haste if, for some reason, you don't get it turn 3. I'd play it.

Seems sweet. Options are good and this helps play around sweepers.

This is pretty cool. Has a RUG Loxodon Smiter feel. If RUG were a bigger thing this could maybe even see Modern play. A 3-drop 4/4 on T2 is solid, but it also has the ability to be fast, get bigger, or evade removal.

September 5, 2014 11:24 a.m.

@Fulcrum: Umm...pretty sure it doesn't have evasion.

Gasp! Temur has a creature with power 4+!?! And I thought I'd never see that ferocious trigger!

I'll be playing this guy. 4/4 for 3, 4/4 haste for 4, 3 per turn for a 6/6 and I can make him dodge kill spells

September 5, 2014 11:26 a.m.

-Fulcrum says... #8

@CommanderOfBolas: You can return it to your hand. Admittedly it's not great evasion, but it's still there.

September 5, 2014 11:26 a.m.

I guess you are right, but when I think of evasion, I think of something that makes a creature hard to block i.e. flying, unblockable, etc

AEtherling is that you with that second ability and third ability comboed? Admittedly not s good, but more of a beat down feel early. Defiantly will see play. Fulcrum he means like flying or unblockable or something like that. Something that helps you avoid getting blocked The return to hand is more of a sudo-hexproof.

September 5, 2014 11:32 a.m.

Bivouac? How the hell do you pronounce that?

September 5, 2014 11:33 a.m.

lol Rasta, I was thinking the same thing

September 5, 2014 11:37 a.m.

Korombos says... #14

@ Rasta_Viking29 it has a couple pronunciations: biv-oo-ack or biv-wak. This in my group where some people can't pronounce Manaweft Sliver . Oi vey.

"T1: Draws Frontier Bivoodidyair. Plays the Bivywivyblair tapped."

Showdowns are about to get that much more difficult.

Spootyone says... #16

But for real, though. This guy?

I'll be playing this in Temur as a 4-of, almost assuredly. And now I'll also be playing Elvish Mystic again, because I had begun not doing so.

Ugh, this three color nonsense is making it difficult to figure out mana bases even with things like Sylvan Caryatid and rattleclaw... I want to play things fast, but colors...

Spootyone says... #18

Could you imagine if Burning Earth were still in standard...?

Rayenous says... #19

3 Drop that activates Ferocious for Temur... this is what was missing. Still could use a few more.

trentfaris242 says... #20

I like that the name of the clan is "Temur". It almost echoes the type of players of the colors, which is Timmy.

Limited all-star. Might be constructed worthy... time will tell.

Zuckfat - LSV spoiled this card. I find it hards to believe that WotC gave him a bad card to preview.

@trentfaris242 there is a RUG Vial deck in Modern. Savage Knuckleblade might find a home in it.

Bellock86 says... #29

This guy will most definitely see constructed play in standard. Early game he's a 4/4 beater that gets scarier as you get more mana sources.

Mid to late game - cast him. Haste and swing. And then pump accordingly.

Yeah I like him.

I'm gonna play the hell out of this thing

September 5, 2014 6:42 p.m.

LordOfDispair says... #31

Decent in constructed at a minimum, honestly mediocre abilities don't even matter when something has a strong P/T like that, they're just icing on the cake.

September 5, 2014 6:55 p.m.

Zuckfat says... #32

Yea.. but a good card may not necessarily be constructed playable if the environment doesn't suit it. That's what I'm saying...pack rat is a good card, didn't see constructed play for about a year.

September 5, 2014 7:42 p.m.

NerdPounder says... #33

Yeah I honestly really like this card, much like the other RUG cards that have been spoiled. It's a great mana sink and attacks through Courser of Kruphix . You can make a 4/4 and still leave mana up for its abilities or other spells in the late game, or you can just play an old country 4/4 on 3. RUG looks sick. Temur Ascendancy looks insane by the way, it's Fervor and Glimpse of Nature in one cheap card. With Domri Rade rotating out, Monsters needs a way to draw some cards, this would be fantastic. t3 Ascendency, t4 Polukranos draw a card and attack for 5. Yes please.

September 5, 2014 11:01 p.m.

beakedbard says... #34

Wow just wow this card is epic even if you don't play its abilities you get value from just playing it. The fact that it can give itself haste, buff itself and avoid removal just adds to how useful it is i like it.
