Scourge of Fleets

I know usually it's only "good" cards that get talked about much in this forum, but I really like Scourge of Fleets.

As a sea monster enthusiast, this is a great effect when you're spending a ton of mana to cast a big nasty. If it eats a kill spell, at least it likely cleared the board. I'm loving the sea monsters in this set for sure. I can't wait to see what else comes out in this set.

Welp, I guess mono blue kraken control is a thing now.

its basically a overloaded Cyclonic Rift tied to a 6/6 and that's pretty good

Slap that in a ramp deck with Prophet of Kruphix and you'll have yourself a Cyclonic Rift with a booty. At least it's better than Tromokratis .

Osang_21 - I would disagree about Scourge of Fleets is better than Tromokratis . Scourge will still die to sorcery speed (targeted) removal. But imagine Scourge in a deck with Species Gorger to bounce and recast it each turn.

JWiley129: My initial reaction was that Tromokratis finally has a buddy to hang out with in donation boxes. I guess it depends on the situation. I do like Tromokratis ' flavor more.

Brilliant deduction amishrambo.

Point being, cards that seem bad can turn out to be really good, so don't immediately write something off unless it is just blatantly bad (see Titan of Eternal Fire ). This card is not blatantly bad.

I like the Rift Whale a lot.

It's going to be stupid in EDH with Conjurers Closet though. Fricking frick.

Oh I hadn't even thought of it as a 6/6 rift. I get nerdy imagining that when it enters, a huge wave forms and swallows up the other players board(within the limits of the bounce). They then have to rescue their creatures from the ocean currents (re-cast).

The Art might be a reference to the original jaws poster.

I like it. It's a great big kraken! You gotta love any giant blue creature, no? The art alone is cool enough that I'll try and pick up at least one.
