Two things I can speculate from this. First off, obviously, is the addition of multicolor Allies. This is excellent. Secondly, no ETB effect? Seems weird for Allies, right? But the more I think of it, I think of how this new "Tap an Ally" effect pairs with older Ally cards. Being able to have a deck with half-ETB effects and half-toolboxing of the ETB cards seems to pair very well.
Don't know about you guys, but I LOVE me some Allies and are really praying for some good EDH additions.
I would kill for (and I'm probably reaching here) a five color Legendary Ally with something along the lines of, "Whenever a nontoken Ally enters the battlefield under your control, put a 1/1 white ally creature token onto the battlefield."
What do you guys think?
Wouldn't it be cool if they gave Allies and alt win con? "When you control 20 or more Allies, you win the game" or something. "Tap 10 untapped Allies you control: Target player loses the game." "When you control 2 Allies of each color, you win the game."
Idk Allies just seem like they need that sort of thing. Plus it's flavorful. Call it like "Indomitable Alliance."

Jay you know, I definitely wouldn't complain about something like that but I think that's unlikely. Allies are already very Sliver-esque in their insane tribal-ness, so I don't think they need instant wincons to be viable. If they just keep printing toolbox effects like on Veteran Warleader, Allies could become even more of a force to be reckoned with.

I think a 5-color Ally would be pretty Rad, but I don't know if they would put something like that into Standard and have Allies be really good. Especially if this Ally is straight 
with no other colorless cost.

5 color Allies in commander is very strong. Tier 1? No. Able to beat Shattergang Brothers and Zedruu the Greathearted? Definately, regardless of what those two builds have.
I hope they make more ETB allies. I hate creatures that have to tap. What allies really needs for EDH is some thematic card-draw engines. Also the new 4 drop seems really bad to me because he misses CoCo and even more importantly is a Star/Star Power/Toughness creature that's dependent on other creatures not to be just a 1/1. This almost never works out well in standard.

What what what? My mistake. I only saw it on those fuzzy box photos and thought there was a next to the . This gives me lots of hope for the power level to mana cost ratio of new Allies. : D

I can't really think of any old Allies that were "staple" enough to be reprinted, tbh. I'm expecting a large batch of new allies. We got 30 in Zendikar so here's to hoping there will be about that many again.

If we got 30 new allies I might have to build a commander deck. Of course Karona would lead the way. > : )
Coming form a commander mindset I hope we get something like Ephara, God of the Polis or Eidolon of Blossoms but for allies. Let it be all ours mwahahahaha the greed!
Oh and although their weren't any real "staple" allies if you build a Zendikar block mill ally deck it can get pretty sick. You don't even run mill cards, you just hope you get the ally that mills on ETB and laugh as your friends say "I thought you said casual" while crying. I forget who but somebody on this site has one and it's glorious.

Yeah Karona would be pretty good. Hard to say now without any more spoilers to go on, but I'm pretty interested in Damia, Sage of Stone EDH Allies. I just reeeeally want to throw Infinite Reflection or Rite of Replication on a Hagra Diabolist.

I'm mainly looking for a hexproof ally tbh. I think it's what they need. I also hope they bring back the "whenever this creature or another ally you control enters the battlefield put a +1+1 counter on this creature"

I am sure there will be a large amount of reprints, and many will be the +1 kind. I am just hoping for some new etb dudes. I had a 4 color ally deck in zendikar, and might make a standard deck if they were that fun again.

I'm really not expecting a lot of reprints tbh... the last time we revisited a plane (Ravnica) there were almost no notable reprints of anything uncommon or higher

I would straight up die of happiness if they print a Sliver Queenesque Ally. I've had this janky 5 color Allies deck that i've had forever now, and I'd love me some new allies to play with.
